Course Curriculum Overview
I chose the Mechanical Engineering course because I have a deep interest in core field industries. The faculty and student ratio is quite satisfactory and up to the mark. As far as I know, they are quite qualified and Ph.D. holders from top IITs or foreign universities. Professors share the class PDFs and PPTs through institute mail IDs. Each semester lasts for 4 to 5 months and it consists of Class Assessment(CA) 15 marks, Mid-Semester Exams 25 Marks, and the End-Semester Exams 60 marks. It's quite difficult to pass and it is expected from a top NIT student like NIT DURGAPUR.
Internships Opportunities
The companies hire interns on a 3/6 month basis. Companies are Amazon, Microsoft, Tcs, G Soc, Goldman Sachs, etc. The interns work in a variety of roles in different fields, such as software development engineer, a thermal or circuital engineer.
Placement Experience
From the 7th semester, the students are eligible for on-campus placements. Companies such as TCS Ninja, AMAZON, COGNIZANT, MICROSOFT, etc. come for recruitment. The highest package is 70 LPA and the average placement of B-Tech is 12 LPA. 85% of students got placement according to recent data. After completing my B-Tech degree I will opt for Master or M-Tech.
Fees and Financial Aid
The fee hike policy for pursuing B-Tech from the National Institute Of Technology Durgapur is approximately 6 lakhs which includes tution fees of rupees 63000 per semester. The scholarships available in college are SVMCM, NSP, etc.
Campus Life
The annual techno-management fest of NIT-DGP is AAROHAN and the annual cultural fest is RECSTACY. The central library contains a large volume of academic and non-academic books available for knowledge purposes. The classrooms are well-equipped with air conditioning, projectors, speaker systems, smart boards, etc. The sports and extracurricular activities include Football, Cricket, Volleyball, Basketball, AC Gyms, Martial Arts Classes, Yoga, etc. Some clubs are CCA, SAE, G-LUG, STROKES, EDC, DANCE CLUB, MUSIC CLUB, etc.
Hostel Facilities
Each room accommodates 3 students and for each student, there is a bed, a chair, a study table, a reading lamp, a charging point, and an almirah. Students in the hostels get free wifi after logging into it. The meal quality and the serving are very good and satisfactory. Registration in the hostels is done through emails after the addmission process in college, and you have to physically present in the hostel campus for room allotment.
Admission
You have to appear for the Jee-Mains Entrance Examination and need 75% marks above in your class 12 board examination. All details are provided on Josaa's official website in the information brochure. Apart from this, no special improvement is needed in the admission process.
