- The infrastructure is really nice. The classrooms are huge and the labs are well equiped.
- The people and the faculty here is very nice and helpful.
- The course curriculum is very industry relevant the new director is trying to raise the placement stats.
Dislikes
- The management can be very unhelpful at times.
- There are far too many restrictions for first year students to avoid getting ragged
- Infrastructure although great is not well maintained. Grasses are not cut on time etc.
Course Curriculum Overview
I chose Computer Science stream due to my interest in programming from class 10 and it is also the only most demanding branch of Engineering .The student to faculty ratio is 4:1.The faculty is very good and highly educated and it is justified as it is a top NIT. The exams are in easy to moderate paper difficulty and time is less spaced.
Internships Opportunities
There are many IT companies like TCS, Infosys who offer paid internships and there are core companies too like Coal India. The projects to qualify the intership are like Railways Ticket system etc and good dsa skills ensure the shortlisting in interviews.
Placement Experience
The student gets eligible after passing the 5th semester as summer internships start. There atleast 100 it companies visit every placement season and 500+ offers were made. The highest package offered was 70LPA to a mechanical branch. Around 75 percent of students gets placed every season. My plan after doing the degree is to have a corporate job in US.
Fees and Financial Aid
Since i am a foreign student, we have to give some extra amount on time of admission. The cost to study 62500 and other charges are there of hostel, mess and student activities fund and no financial assistance was provided to us.
Campus Life
There are various fest conductes in the months of Jan-April. Cultural Fest like Aarohan, Techincal like Rectasy, ReCRAVE etc. The library is top level and very good for student it has foreign journals and magazines and phd scholars published books. There is a sport complex and two fields ovals and lords for sport events and also a very huge Student Activity Centre. There are so many clubs like Glug, Debsoc, codecraze, sae, ieee they have very good influence among the students.
Hostel Facilities
The hostel is quite spacey and 3 people sharing the same room with table, almirah, night light and some rooms also got a router. The mess food is good in taste and quality and every floor has its own mess and common room. There is also a basketball, volleyball court in hall11. The admission is done on the first day and the little bit highly prices due to very good mess menu.
Admission
I gave jee and i am a foreign student so there was a quota of foreign student. The application form and fees and dates are given by NTA. The improvement is little bit needed as I came from DASA counselling so it was a bit lengthy.
