Course Curriculum Overview
NIT Durgapur is quite famous for its Mechanical engineering as durgapur is a planned city having a lot of scope for mechanical engineers. I personally chose this course because that's what I got according to my JEE mains percentile. The student to faculty ratio is pretty good, they provide every grooup of 6 students a mentor who is mostly a senior process who can guide, help, assist, educate us for a better carrier. The faculties are highly qualified , and most of them have a degree from the top reputes institutes of india and also they are very much experinced. Few of them like the old teaching methods , the so called"Chalk and talk". But few use projectors and other tools to help the students, they provide us with the notes and imprtant study materials directly. The subjects are quite difficult and lengthy in Mecahnical Enginnering but exams are quite easy to pass, the professors gives the passing marks . easily but to score a good CGPA you have to study hard a bit.
Placement Experience
For campus placements you have to be atleast in 3rd year. The companies like Microsoft, oil india, bharat petroleum, reliance, physicswallah visit our campus and offers a very good package for high skilled students. Highest package for 2022 was 73 lakhs by flipkart to a mechanical engineering students and 15 students got 50 Lakh+ packages.
Fees and Financial Aid
Fee hikeis not very much noticable but in the recent years we have noticed some significant changes in the fee structure but its not too high. Cost to study is also not much signifiacnt as you just have to buy notebooks and a few papers to make the assignment and its not going to cost much . The scolarship which i availed is SVMCM provided by the West bengal government
Campus Life
No ANNUAL fest till now as its only been 6 months . Hoping for a fest in February. Name of the cultural fest is AAROHAN and technical fest is RESCTACY . Every student has been provided a library card using which one can get books from the library. Sports culture is very competitive here as recently an inter NIT sports tournament held and we won the football tournament.
Hostel Facilities
The rooms of the hostls are quiet spacious, furniture are also in usable condition. The meals are quiet bland so that everyone can eat , the food is edible unlike others (mess/hostels). Registration was very simple , wee just had to pay fees and reside here . *Wi-Fi* servers have banned all games and websites which is effecting my studies adversely , so make sure to have a high data pack and a nice connection atleast 5G.
Admission
for this cource you should have atleat 75 percentage in your boards or top 20 percentile in your board exams and you should have atleast 96 percentile for generl male and 92 percentile for general women application form can be found in josaa's and nitdgp official website, there is no such applcation fees for NIT but there is one for JEE, admission starts mainly in August after you are alloted with a college in josaa For OBC / EWS, they need 2percentile less than the the general candidates nut if you are SC candidate you can get away with 5-7 percentile lower than general candidates.
