Course Curriculum Overview

4.5

The course has vast career opportunities and will prepare you well for competitive-level examinations (UPSC). The aspects of the curriculum that influenced my decision to choose this course were the various studies of public administration, ancient statecraft studies, Eurocentric approaches, International Relations and a brief study of political theories of Karl Marx, Liberalism, Feminism, postmodernism, etc. This course opens many opportunities and the examinations are moderately difficult focusing mainly on teaching the basics. We have 2 mid Semester exams and two final exams in an academic year. The curriculum gives a close study of the politics, foreign policy, administration, and public policy that we can apply in our daily findings. The teaching methods are very interactive but could include on ground research studies, conducted in groups.

The eligibility criteria for companies varied, students from all years could avail themselves of opportunities in various NGOs and companies. The key opportunity was given to students of economics or commerce background based on the job profiles. I want to pursue a masters degree in International Relations from JNU, Delhi becoming eligible for PHD in IR and going for NAT-JRF examination after my masters.

Fees and Financial Aid

The fee for pursuing this course is 31200 in Daulat Ram College. It was seen as the fee was increased for all courses in our college (2022) to provide in building and infrastructure facilities including sports. ThThe complete cost of my education can be categorised as - Examination Fee for Semester Exams (1310*2), Course Fee (31200), and Department Fund (250). This does not include my living cost in Delhi which varies according to your preferences. Admission

I registered for CUET-UG in 2023, an entrance exam for all colleges of the University of Delhi. I paid 1400 examination fee for 6 papers (history, political science, legal studies, English, mass communication and performing arts). One student can apply for this after their 12th grade in their respective streams. The CUET-UG is a moderately difficult MCQ-based online exam. The Admission process started after the results were declared and I scored 735 marks (a score of four top subjects is considered). I registered on the DU Portal, gave my basic details and paid a minimal fee of 250-/ to begin the process. After that the DU admission process started, and the eligibility criteria for my College was a minimum of 740 marks (OBC Category) which goes to 760 and 770 for general categories. The process took around 15-20 days after which my college was allotted. The eligibility criteria of pursuing BA(H)Political Science in University is Delhi is scoring 750 (if OBC Category) and 770 (General).

The course curriculum is a bit too theoretical and less practical. The exams in the college takes places every month which are seasonals and are for internal marking and then we have semester exams in every 6 months which accounts for the external marking.

Placements are available in college, the drive is quite extensive, everyone is made aware of the choices and options and counselling is present too. It is from the third year, students are eligible to apply for placements. Companies and organisations take part such as Niti ayog, Times, Geostrata, Prajatantra foundation, etc. Those who desire usually work on their CVs, keep on doi internships and then get a placement. The packages are not that impressive to be honest.

The course is really very interesting. It keeps up with our expectations. Involves both practical and theoretical aspects to make sure that we are able to face the real world. Also, with the help of the guidance that we get from teachers we're able to ace both the aspects. The examinations also are based on applications, thus, helping us to enhance ourselves in all possibilities.

I got a seat in Ramjas College. It is a north-campus college. The infrastructure is too good compared to the remaining colleges. The teaching also going well but I faced some language problems. I'm from south India so I don't understand Hindi properly. But here mostly they teach in Hindi only and English is used very rarely.

Course Curriculum Overview:

The course itself is prestigious and is mostly opted for by people who plan either on preparing for the Civil Services or those who want to pursue academia. The course structure is framed in a manner that you don't just simply study history there, but you ingrain a critical viewpoint of a young historian. The faculty of History Hons. has some of the best Professors in the University, although you will in any course at any college find some teachers below your expectations, you don't have to bear them for more than 1 or 2 semesters. Passing the exams is not very difficult, but yes scoring above average is. If you get a GPA ranging from 6 to 7, you've performed fine. Above that is considered a Very good performance in Hons. courses of Social sciences at Delhi University. there are semester exams every 5- 6 months
