Course Curriculum Overview

4.5

The course is good and curriculum is well designed (you can get the complete syllabus in the respective departmental website). Exams are tough and since it, a deemed college your marks depends on the teacher teaching. Do note they are NIT teachers so they don't do partiality. Also, the competition is great as only the top minds come to this college.

Placement Experience

3.5

If you belong to IT or CSE department you will definitely get placement as most of companies comes for theses two departments and the packages offered varies from 5lakh to 40 lakh per annum. Other department like EE and ECE has above-average placements. Departments like Civil and Mechanical has average placements. And department like Biotech, Metallurgy, and chemical has worst placement stats so avoid taking theses departments. The college doesn't provide internships, you have to find your own and college will provide a letter of authorization (like a bonafide certificate). The college does fund foreign internships but the condition is that the college in which you got internship must come under the internship funding policy of the college. I did a non-stipend internship in Vizag steel plant by applying directly into the company.

College Events

5

Events are the one thing you will find in plenty. There are around 35 clubs inside the college, so every other weekend you will find some event/competition is going on. The college organises around 6 fests i.e. Avishkaar(organised by maths & tech club), Verve(organised by literacy club), virasat (organised by spicmacy), E-Submit(organised by Entrepreneur and development cell), Arohaan(organised by Centre for Cognitive Activities(biggest club)), Rectasy(biggest cultural fest by Gymkhana-colleges student union)

Fee Structure And Facilities

The fees are divided semester-wise, after the end of every semester(6 months period) you have to pay your fees. It is same for every semester. Below are the details- Gen/OBC based on an annual income of family- below 1lakh- 10k below 5lakk - 45k above 5lakh - 75k And for SC/ST - 10k No other heavy expenses as everything is available inside the campus.

Fees and Financial Aid

I did not opt for any scholarship or education loan but it quite easy to get it. First, you will need to open an SBI account in the SBI branch present inside the college and the manager there will guide you further.

Campus Life

3.5

The campus life is great. As the campus is in a very large area so will have a large area to explore. Also the nearest mall i.e. junction mall is just walkable distance from the college. There's a student activity center building which has student gym inside and the people working here manages all the sporting events in the college. There is a lot of inter-hall, inter-NIT sports events happening all around the year. And trust me you will find a club according to your interest. There is a club from robotics to acting.

Hostel Facilities

4

The mess is maintained by students i.e. the students decide the menu which is approved the warden and then cooked by the mess workers. So the mess fees vary every month depending on which group of students is maintaining the mess that month. Usually, the yearly mess expense is around 30k. The hostels are old and each floor has two large bathroom area but liveable and free cleaning service comes every day to clean bathrooms. You will get a 24hr water supply. But the best thing about the hostel is that each room has there own fixed LAN port and the college provides unlimited data with a speed of 52MBps so no restriction on download.

Alumni/Alumna

The college has a designated alumni website where you can connect to the alumni of the college. A lot of alumni are constantly visiting the college presenting seminars. The seniors will help in any problem. They will become your family away from home.

Admission

I got selected through JEE MAINS based CSAB-NEUT counseling into Metallurgical and Materials Engineering. After the JEE mains result was declared counseling for home state seats started in the month of July and ended first week of August. I received a home state seat in NIT Durgapur in the department Metallurgical and Materials Engineering in the first week of August.

Faculty

4

Most of the faculty members are friendly. They will help you in all the activities as some of the faculties are the head of different clubs in the college. Also, the warden of hostels are also faculty members, so people develop a friendly relation with the faculty members. So in case of need if you want to reach a faculty it is pretty easy. You a directly go a faculty chamber and talk to him/her. Also, you can look into the college website there the names, email address and mobile number of each faculty is provided. The best way to reach a faculty is through email.

Placement Experience:

The campus placements happen in final year of the course. There is a well established placement cell to conduct the on-campus placements. Many well renowned companies visit our college namely Microsoft, Google, TI, TSL, PWC, ICICI, ABG. L&T, etc. The highest package was 50LPA and the average was around 9LPA. Over 90% students got placed from across every department and details of the placement is also available in the college official website. I have gotten a job from the on-campus drive to a core company.

The placements of our college are below average. Studies for placement are more or less relevant from second semester. companies like tcs, amazon etc do visit our campus however very few are selected with package above 4-5 LPA. Most of the students seek out for higher studies and that's my plan too.

It's my decision from class 12 that I will do civil engineering, so I chose the civil branch, the course curriculum is well and the teaching level is good but the main problem is lab, there is very limited classes for lab, so I think they should improve there.

Placement Experience:

After the 6th semester, the students are eligible for placements. Mass recruiters like TCS, Wipro, Infosys, Accenture, Capgemini, etc visit every year and pick up 80-100 students per company. Other companies like Amazon, Thoughtworks, Etc also visit the college. The highest package offered by our college is 15LPA by Thoughtworks. Every year around 75-80% of students get placed on campus. I plan to get a good job work for 2-3 years and then apply for Masters. Overall the placement is very nice in this college.
