Remarks
The college gives enough opportunities here for enhancing your academic as well as extracurricular skills here but the administration is a bit slow here, quite old fashioned. You just have to be a bit patient with the system here and always focus on positive points, keeping negatives aside because off course there are lots of negativities here.
Course Curriculum Overview
As it's a deemed university it follows a well revised curriculum that fits the necessities of competitive examinations such as GATE and ESE. We have total 8 semesters and each semester there is one mid term carrying 30 marks and one final exam of 50 marks. Rest 20 goes for VIVA.
Placement Experience
Average placements are well enough for most of the departments. Previous year Microsoft offered 41 LPA and for core branches average package offered was around 7.5 LPA. We also have goof internship opportunities here for CSE and IT. But for core branches there are very few companies which hire one camps interns.
College Events
CCA is the biggest technical club here which organizes Aarohan which is 2nd largest techno management fest of Eastern India. Other fests here are AAVISHKAR, VIRASAT, E-Summit conducted by EDC and many more.
Fee Structure And Facilities
For general, the semester fee is around 70k so around 5.5 lacs for thw whole course. But we have very good management here, like for students coming from low economic background have just to pay 7k per semester and also loan facilities are available here. So fee structure is quite feasible here.
Fees and Financial Aid
We have provision of Education Loan facility here for needy students. There is a branch of SBI in our campus and it just takes a bit of document work for availing Education Loan here at standard interest rates.
Campus Life
We have enough facilities here to enhance our extracurricular skills here like getting into technical clubs and sports. We have an integrated gymnasium in the campus. And we have sports committee here and we do have annual Inter-NIT competitions going on here.
Hostel Facilities
Hostel facilities are good. And they charge 15k for 6 months (including food). Well food is not so great but decent compared to hostel standards. Other facilities like medical units, wifi are quite good here.
Alumni/Alumna
We have official Alumni association of NIT DURGAPUR and they are quite co-operative. We can always approach the seniors for career guidance or any other problems we are facing. Alumni are quite helpful internships.
Admission
I appeared for JEE Main examination after completing my (10+2) and secured AIR 22127 and as I am from West Bengal so with the basis of Home Quota I got Mechanical Engineering as per my choice. Off course for reserved candidates there is slight relocation in rank.
Faculty
We have got good faculties as far as old disciplines of engineering are concerned like for ME, EE. They have lots of experience which is quite useful for us. But for new branches like Biotech and Chemistry we are lacking enough faculties here.
