Course Curriculum Overview

4

I'm very much interested in literature and I love to read that's why I choose this course. Person who is curious to learn about literature will definitely love the eng hons course. This course helps you to develop the critical thinking which are very useful to interpret ideas and analyze situation logistically. It also helps you to develop the communication skills which are very useful in every career. You build confidence and enhace your public speaking skills by regular presentation and discussions. The curriculum is highly theory based so it will be better to add more modules like creative writing workshop, content writing and digital communication would make it more career-oriented.Student often struggle to connect literature with career oriented jobs. The course could include internships and project work. The level of english paper are generally moderate as you need to critically analyse the text you read in your syllabus. You can score very well if you have the knowledge of critics and the text.

Fees and Financial Aid

Fees of daulat ram college depends on the course one is pursuing. Usually, the fees of B.A.(Hons.) English is 32,000/year. If the course is related to science field then you have to pay extra fee for the lab also. There is also a good scholarship for the people whose income is lower than 8,00,000/annum. You can easily apply for that scheme and take advantage of it. There's also a specific provision for EWS and PwD categories with reduced application fee for some courses. While tution fee are similar for mainly UG courses, different fee structure often exist for SC/ST/OBC/PwD students especially for application/entrance fees. DRC often have various scholarships like NSP(National scholarship Portal)for minorities. DRC affiliates the applications and may offer a college specific fees concession of around 10,000 per year for financialy disadvantaged students. But the concession you receive from NSP entirely dependens on the specific NSP scheme you are eligible for.

Campus Life

4

There is an annual fest in drc called Majari which is very good and entertaining and also festive related fests like on diwali. The overall campus life is very good and vibrant as it lies in the north campus - the heart of delhi university. You can read as many books as you want in library but you should have your college id card. DRC is very much active in the societies and extra curriculars and you can always get an opportunity to show your skills and talent. There are so many meaningful societies like WDC, NSS which teaches us the need to help people around you and become a better person by creating a good impact on other's life.

Admission

As I applied only for delhi university college and I really wanted to get in girls college. As we have to give an exam - CUET to get in colleges of delhi university and all colleges have different cutoffs. The admission process is quite exhausting as it is very long. First you have to give CUET and then wait for your marks then make your preference lists and then you will get college according to your scores and preference lists. Most preferred courses in du are B.com hons, political science hons, English hons, etc.

Faculty

4

The faculty of drc is very supportive and understanding. You can always seek them for help in your studies or doubts. Especially the faculty of my course which is english honours is just great. They are very knowledgeable and helpful. There's not such faculty whom I didn't like because everyone is just simply great. Usually there are mid sems and end sems exams and the difficulty level is moderate. They're not that much hard and you can easily score great by having the knowledge of your syllabus.

Night Life

4

You can find so many affordable pg and cafes around the college as it is the main spot for every du student. There's also a fixed timing for the pg and campus for the safety of students. The classee usually gets over around 5-6 pm. The general timing of closing for the pg is 10 pm. The area is quite safe as it is surrounded by students mainly.

Placements are available in college, the drive is quite extensive, everyone is made aware of the choices and options and counselling is present too. It is from the third year, students are eligible to apply for placements. Companies and organisations take part such as Niti ayog, Times, Geostrata, Prajatantra foundation, etc. Those who desire usually work on their CVs, keep on doi internships and then get a placement. The packages are not that impressive to be honest.

The course is really very interesting. It keeps up with our expectations. Involves both practical and theoretical aspects to make sure that we are able to face the real world. Also, with the help of the guidance that we get from teachers we're able to ace both the aspects. The examinations also are based on applications, thus, helping us to enhance ourselves in all possibilities.

I got a seat in Ramjas College. It is a north-campus college. The infrastructure is too good compared to the remaining colleges. The teaching also going well but I faced some language problems. I'm from south India so I don't understand Hindi properly. But here mostly they teach in Hindi only and English is used very rarely.

Course Curriculum Overview:

The course itself is prestigious and is mostly opted for by people who plan either on preparing for the Civil Services or those who want to pursue academia. The course structure is framed in a manner that you don't just simply study history there, but you ingrain a critical viewpoint of a young historian. The faculty of History Hons. has some of the best Professors in the University, although you will in any course at any college find some teachers below your expectations, you don't have to bear them for more than 1 or 2 semesters. Passing the exams is not very difficult, but yes scoring above average is. If you get a GPA ranging from 6 to 7, you've performed fine. Above that is considered a Very good performance in Hons. courses of Social sciences at Delhi University. there are semester exams every 5- 6 months
