Course Curriculum Overview

3

I chose Economics hons as my course because I really had interest in this since 11th grade and wanted to explore more in this field. The curriculum provided by du is not so good but fine. It really don't prepare one for the real world applications. Even after implementing NEP, the education remains just class room based. We are not supposed to be prepared for real world by preparing a 50-60 page assignment instead there should be field visits, practical exposure and internships. The college has it's placement cell which updates on various job and internships opportunities but why is there no source of developing one’s skills to apply for these. Mostly students have to surf over the internet themselves to prepare them to step into the world beyond classroom.

Internships Opportunities

3

The placement cell keeps updating about the internship opportunities available. I don't think so that college directly provides any intership opportunity. But as of now I don't have much detailed information on this.

Placement Experience

4

Being in my first year I really don't have an idea about these but the average package was around 7 lakh per annum. There's a placement cell in our college which provides information on job and internships opportunities. Furthermore this cell also organises an annual Internship and Career Fair.

Fees and Financial Aid

My annual fee is ?32100 for BA (hons) Economics which I believe remains same for all three years of course duration. The fee remains same across General, OBC, SC, ST, EWS, KM and CW categories But PwBD students pay significantly low fee of ?2850 per year. As of financial aid, college provide fee concession to the eligible students and there are many other scholarships offered like collegedunia merit scholarship and state level higher education scholarships.

Campus Life

3

There are various extra curricular and academic based socities, cells and clubs in our college. I am part of 2 of these. One is ÈCLAT, the Economics Association where I am a finace executive and other is Orator’s Club there too I am working as a finace executive. The library is small with low seating capacity. There are rarely any smartboard in any class mostly it's a white board so no as such facilities and technical provisions within the classroom. The spoets complex is not so well maintained. I have rarely seen anyone playing games in the college campus besides students who are part of ncc or nss.

Admission

I gave CUET after my boards for applying to delhi university. I approximately filled 70 preferences of colleges with course. Daulat Ram College was my 17th preference. I didn't get into colleges in top of my preference list because I didn't clear their required cutoff. In my first round of allocation I got Atma Ram Sanatan Dharm college and after applying for upgrade I grabbed Daulat Ram. The seat matrix college wise, course wise and category wise is availabe online.

Faculty

4

The faculty of Economics department is quite good. Most of the professors are easily approachable while a few are mostly found on leave. Teaching method is fine not so engaging and helpful. The examinations are based on structure provided by the delhi university but internally mid sem exams were taken this time. The IA and CA for internal marks are either conducted online or offline. The difficulty level of exams is moderate.

Night Life

4

The college is located in North campus which is the most vibrant area of University of Delhi so the surroundings are always lively. There are several accommodation facilities available besides college hostel in nearby areas. The popular hanging out spots among students are hudson lane, kamla nagar market and majnu ka tila. The locality is kinda safe to roam around at night in groups and not alone.

Other Applied Colleges

The course curriculum is a bit too theoretical and less practical. The exams in the college takes places every month which are seasonals and are for internal marking and then we have semester exams in every 6 months which accounts for the external marking.

Placement Experience:

Placements are available in college, the drive is quite extensive, everyone is made aware of the choices and options and counselling is present too. It is from the third year, students are eligible to apply for placements. Companies and organisations take part such as Niti ayog, Times, Geostrata, Prajatantra foundation, etc. Those who desire usually work on their CVs, keep on doi internships and then get a placement. The packages are not that impressive to be honest.

Course Curriculum Overview:

The course is really very interesting. It keeps up with our expectations. Involves both practical and theoretical aspects to make sure that we are able to face the real world. Also, with the help of the guidance that we get from teachers we're able to ace both the aspects. The examinations also are based on applications, thus, helping us to enhance ourselves in all possibilities.

I got a seat in Ramjas College. It is a north-campus college. The infrastructure is too good compared to the remaining colleges. The teaching also going well but I faced some language problems. I'm from south India so I don't understand Hindi properly. But here mostly they teach in Hindi only and English is used very rarely.

Course Curriculum Overview:

The course itself is prestigious and is mostly opted for by people who plan either on preparing for the Civil Services or those who want to pursue academia. The course structure is framed in a manner that you don't just simply study history there, but you ingrain a critical viewpoint of a young historian. The faculty of History Hons. has some of the best Professors in the University, although you will in any course at any college find some teachers below your expectations, you don't have to bear them for more than 1 or 2 semesters. Passing the exams is not very difficult, but yes scoring above average is. If you get a GPA ranging from 6 to 7, you've performed fine. Above that is considered a Very good performance in Hons. courses of Social sciences at Delhi University. there are semester exams every 5- 6 months
