Course Curriculum Overview

3

I chose this course mainly because I did not have many strong options at the time but I wanted to study in a good North Campus college and Daulat Ram College was one of my best opportunities I also have a genuine interest in music so this combination felt suitable for me The course curriculum is fairly comprehensive especially in NHE which is very practical I have learned useful things related to diet planning body requirements and basic nutrition which can actually be applied in real life I feel I can find a decent job related to this field though I do not have very high expectations in terms of salary At the same time the course has its limitations Being a BA degree it does not carry much weight in the medical or health sector especially if someone plans to continue till the fourth year I feel this course should be converted entirely into a BSc degree for better recognition and career value Teaching methods are mostly theory based but NHE practicals are engaging and useful Exams are not very difficult honestly If you have basic practical knowledge about the human body nutrition and diet planning you can pass comfortably Most exams focus on how well you present answers rather than extreme depth The exam frequency is not very manageable with ia , ca , presentations and end semester exams each semester

Fees and Financial Aid

I am pursuing BA Programme with Music and NHE from Daulat Ram College and the fee structure is moderate but slightly high compared to some other DU colleges In my first year I paid around 33 thousand rupees and in the second and third year the fee is around 31 thousand rupees per year The fee includes tuition fee admission and registration charges development fee library and other compulsory charges There are no major lab fees for my course Students from reserved categories like SC ST usually pay less than us General category students and some of my batchmates fees are lower Scholarship options include DU merit cum means scholarship and some state scholarships but you need proper documents and good academic record Fees have increased slightly over the years but not drastically

Campus Life

3

My overall experience with campus life has been quite good mainly because of the friends I made and I joined two societies during my initial semesters which helped me interact with seniors and explore my interests but I eventually left them due to internal politics and strong inner circle culture Still there are many societies in the college that genuinely encourage talent and provide good platforms for students to grow The college has one main annual fest called Manjari which is usually held once a year while individual departments organize their own small fests and events mostly between September and November Apart from that some event or activity keeps happening almost every month except during November to March when the semester begins and academic pressure increases .The library has a decent range of books and journals especially for humanities and social sciences though sometimes required books are limited in number Classrooms are average and only some rooms have projectors WiFi connectivity is weak and not reliable The college has computer labs but they are mostly reserved for students from computer related courses Sports facilities exist but they are not very well developed and extracurricular activities do happen but they are not very highlighted or engaging

Admission

I chose this college mainly because it was one of the better options available to me in North Campus and I really wanted a good academic environment The admission was not very difficult for me because I had a quota which helped in getting this course The priority subjects for this course are PCB but students from other streams can also get admission through CUET I got Daulat Ram College in the third round with a cutoff of around 300 marks with quota Without quota the cutoff was much higher around 450 I had applied to many colleges including Hindu College and Gargi College but I could not make it there because my CUET score did not meet their cutoff criteria The CUET system works on a preference based allocation so even though you do not receive a formal rejection mail you are automatically moved to lower preferences if you do not qualify for higher ones Technically I was rejected by Hindu and Gargi due to cutoff limitations ,In the second round I got Mata Sundri College for Sanskrit Honours and I attended it for about one week but my experience there was very disappointing There were only seven students in my course almost no activities and the environment felt dull and demotivating I did not feel happy or confident there In the first round I did not get any college at all so compared to that Daulat Ram College was a much better option Overall the admission process through CUET was smooth but stressful due to multiple rounds

Faculty

3

The faculty to student ratio in the college is fairly balanced and okayis in most classes students are able to interact with teachers when needed Many faculty members are approachable especially from the music and humanities departments I personally liked some professors because they explain concepts clearly encourage class participation and are supportive during assignments and internal assessments They are open to doubts and guide students beyond the syllabus However my experience with the NHE department has not been very positive In my case I felt that some teachers were not very helpful and there was noticeable favouritism Certain students received more attention and support while others were often ignored which affected my learning experience A few teachers also follow a very rigid and theory focused teaching style which makes classes less engaging despite being academically qualified The course structure follows DU and NEP guidelines and includes internal assessments and ca assignments , practical, viva and end semester exams every semester The exams are moderately difficult and most students pass if they prepare consistently Very few students fail unless attendance or preparation is poor One major issue is compulsory subjects like SEC VAC and GE which change every semester and are often outside my interest These subjects sometimes lower my CGPA because they require equal effort but are not aligned with my course or career goals The curriculum builds conceptual knowledge but needs better alignment with student interests and practical exposure

Night Life

5

Nightlife around my college is actually good and enjoyable especially because it is located near busy student areas Inside the campus things close by evening like the library classrooms and common areas and hostels also have fixed entry timings but that does not really affect social life much because most students spend time outside the campus, My favorite place to hang out is MKT which has a lot of cafe's bakeries and dessert places and it is always lively with students in the evening It is my go to spot to relax talk and unwind after classes Another place I really like is Omaxe Mall in Chandni Chowk which is great for food casual shopping and spending time with friends The surrounding areas feel safe to roam around at night because of good crowd presence and security Overall these hangouts add a fun balance to academic life and make the college experience much more memorable

Other Applied Colleges

Janki Devi Memorial College - [JDMC] | Bachelor of Arts [BA] {Hons.} (Philosophy)

I didn't wanted it because I preferred north campus more and compared to my current course it was not that good nutrition is something where I see my future as dietician

Placement Experience:

Placements are available in college, the drive is quite extensive, everyone is made aware of the choices and options and counselling is present too. It is from the third year, students are eligible to apply for placements. Companies and organisations take part such as Niti ayog, Times, Geostrata, Prajatantra foundation, etc. Those who desire usually work on their CVs, keep on doi internships and then get a placement. The packages are not that impressive to be honest.

Course Curriculum Overview:

The course is really very interesting. It keeps up with our expectations. Involves both practical and theoretical aspects to make sure that we are able to face the real world. Also, with the help of the guidance that we get from teachers we're able to ace both the aspects. The examinations also are based on applications, thus, helping us to enhance ourselves in all possibilities.

I got a seat in Ramjas College. It is a north-campus college. The infrastructure is too good compared to the remaining colleges. The teaching also going well but I faced some language problems. I'm from south India so I don't understand Hindi properly. But here mostly they teach in Hindi only and English is used very rarely.

Course Curriculum Overview:

The course itself is prestigious and is mostly opted for by people who plan either on preparing for the Civil Services or those who want to pursue academia. The course structure is framed in a manner that you don't just simply study history there, but you ingrain a critical viewpoint of a young historian. The faculty of History Hons. has some of the best Professors in the University, although you will in any course at any college find some teachers below your expectations, you don't have to bear them for more than 1 or 2 semesters. Passing the exams is not very difficult, but yes scoring above average is. If you get a GPA ranging from 6 to 7, you've performed fine. Above that is considered a Very good performance in Hons. courses of Social sciences at Delhi University. there are semester exams every 5- 6 months
