The atmosphere of the college is very good to study. You will enjoy here. Personally, I will suggest you join BMEP, Recursion / CCA as per your interest. However, if you are GATE aspirant you may face some problem. Also, the placement cell needs improvisation.

The exam pattern follows the continuous assessment process. It has 50 marks in midterm and assignments and rests 50 in end semester test. Also, both exams are well organised. The course is not at its best but, it's being updated regularly to meet industry and other demands

If you are in CSE, IT & ECE then job opportunity is very high with companies like Microsoft, Amazon and others taking part in the campus recruitment process. For mechanical, electrical and chemical, jobs are there but, with not so high salary (6-7 LPA avg) And some of these companies take intern too and give PPO if one deserves. The intern stipend range from 10,000 to 1.5L per month.

In our college, all the national events are celebrated. Both college and different student clubs organise events and programmes. As it's in West Bengal, you will really enjoy a lot in Durga puja and Saraswati Puja. Also, student fests like ASarohan, Recstacy, Aaviskar, E Summit, Traditional week, Run NIT, Tech Expo, different workshops etc is heavily celebrated and students from NIT, as well as outside college, take part in huge numbers.

Though it's a bit higher still, your economic background is considered. If family income is < 1L you have to pay 6-8k per semester, if it's 1-5 L, the sem fee is 28-31k and if it's> 5L, the fee is abt 70K

College has some scholarship but, not in a huge amt. However, there are many state govt and central govt scholarships you can avail. And about the loan process, SBI and Canara bank is there and have the system for giving student loan without much complication.

There are some good labs in mechanical, chemical and Biotechnology lab. However, complicated lab works are done in CMERI present nearby. Our college observes sport and yoga days. Though inter NIT sports are not organised here, we won medals in inter NIT. The extracurricular activities are done both by student clubs and college. However, more student participates in club activities.

The old hostels are not that good (Hall 1- Hall 7) However, the new ones are great. The hostel and food charge is 13-15 k per semester. The food quality is average. There is unlimited high-speed internet and cleaning and all is relatively better.

The college organises alumni meet but, the network isn't that good compared to other top NITs. The alumni network is still better in CSE, IT and mechanical dept than others. However, seniors, as well as alumni, are helpful in everything.

To get admission in NIT Durgapur, you have to score good marks in JEE. As per my mark and choice, I got in the chemical engineering discipline. The admission consists of 4 steps. Step 1: Counselling and reporting in any NITs after getting sort listed. I did it at NIT Jamshedpur. Step2: After the final round of counselling is over, reporting in the allotted college (NIT Durgapur for me) and paper verification. Step3: Submission of remaining fees Step4: Hostel allotment

The college has some old and some recently joined new faculties. Some are focused to teach whereas some are more interested in research. One may face little problems with 2-3 faculties due to their old teaching methods but, in general, they won't knowingly put you into trouble. However, 80% of them are strict about attendance and home assignments.
