Dislikes

Girls to boys ratio is very less especially in branches like civil and mechanical.However, it is improving right now due to 10% reservation for girls in IITs. ~ Akaash R, B.Tech

Distance between hostel and classrooms..

Placement Experience:

I am not pretty sure about the campus placements as I know very little about it. Students of final year and mtech are eligible for it. Many companies like Amazon, Google, Facebook etc... . Majority of students get placements but differ in packages. My plan is to get a good package.

Short and Informative.

Likes

Greenary, flora and fauna of the campus , weather is great here
Infrastructure are amazing, healthy social groups and friends
Faculties are marvellous and placement are quite impressive.

Dislikes

Too much raining in the campus and very far away from my home

Placement Experience:

The placements are great in IIT Madras. Mostly, 4th year grads are eligible for campus placements. Various tech companies like Google, Microsoft, Facebook, etc. visit every year. The percentage of students placed is roughly 90% with some others pursuing higher studies and career fields.

Placements are good in iitm ....All the top companies visit in iitm .... Everything ranging from finance,tech, consultant,quant,etc ...Visits the campus ... Companies like janestreet,davinci derivatives, Microsoft,google also comes

Likes

Faculty, Connections and Obviously Peers.
StudyRooms and department for BS students in campus.
Green Lush campus and the peace, friendly environment.

Dislikes

Boring lectures and tough curriculum to handle.
Nepotistic attitude in TAship in this degree.
You can only avail campus classrooms in third year.

Placement Experience:

By the fifth semester student get eligible for campus placements. Placement drive at every term it means three times a year. Aditya Birla, Renault, Nissan, Tata, JP Morgan And much more. As of now I know the average package that is 10 lpa. Percentage is almost 100% of student who get into degree level. Pursuing MBA to earn a degree of IIT with IIM

IIT madras: NIRF 1?

Likes

The environment: the campus is lush green with huge trees everywhere
The clubs: student run clubs at iit Madras are great, the include all categories from science to drama and magic arts
The curriculum: the curriculum is very light and the faculty is still working on to nake it easier

Dislikes

Heat factor: being near equator, it experiences a lot of heat during summer
Language barrier: for students from north , language tends to be an issue as not all natives know English
North vs south student politics can also be seen

Course Curriculum Overview:

I chose chemical engineering because it is the lightest branch. The faculty includes professors who have completed their research from esteemed collegea abroad We follow bi- semester system here, exams are divided as quiz 1, quiz 2 and endsem out of which endsem carry maax weightage If a person gets low in quiz 1/2 then he can easily catch up in endsem

IIT Madras- the real place to be and live and enjoy

Likes

The placement here are awesome, like if you want to be placed you will be placed
The startup culture here is amazing company like Ather , uniphore , ease my trips
The fest are unforgettable special The Paradox, absolutely incredible

Dislikes

The boys to girls ratio is very bad like only 1-3 girls only in a class of 80
The food here can be a bit better like it's very oily and less flavour
The language here is a big issue for most of the people coming from north or other parts of India, cause everyone almost speaks Tamil or English

Placement Experience:

IIT Madras concludes 445 offers at the end of phase 1 of the placement. 25+ offers are of more than 1+cr per anum . 15 international offers were received from four companies. Major recruiter are Microsoft, Flipkart, Bajaj, jp Morgan, Google, Samsung and many multiple national company like Amazon etc . Almost 85-90% student get placed. My plan is to get a non tech related job and then do my MBA from abroad

Likes

The best in class faculties and the best environment to study along with like minded people.
The exposure it provide is really worth appreciating.
The industry interaction talks it offer is one of the best part

Dislikes

The fee in the final years as I've heard is increasing.
Nothibg much to mention in this particular point.

Course Curriculum Overview:

The course curriculum is top-notch notch along with the best and the most talented teachers one can get in the domain. Talking about teachers' qualifications. Yeah, I don't find myself eligible enough to comment on them.

It's online yes, it's called the first copy IITians

Likes

The societies the students the faculty are awesome.
The talks and the live sessions by the experts every week are so awesome.
The credit transfer facilities and the subjects to choose fromfrom

Dislikes

The fact that this is the online degree and that means I have to travel to exam centres to give my monthly semester exams.

Placement Experience:

Placement statistics are low for now as the course is new but the highest package as far as I know was 25 lpa and avg package is around 8-9 lpa. It's not really about the package but the opportunities IIT Madras opens for you. My plan is to get a master's degree in the same field and continue from there.

IIT MADRAS- Heaven for engineers

Likes

The infrastructure is very well maintained. We get world class facilities and all required instruments in all labs.
The campus area Is also very large of around 617 acres. It is a lush green campus with very scenic views.
The placement opportunities are also very good . If you work hard there is no wonder that you get a very good placement.

Dislikes

The girls to boys ratio is very less. And there are less food outlets .
The hostels also need renovations . Not all hostel are that good.
The mess food also needs to get better and more north Indian cuisines should be added.

Placement Experience:

After the 5 th semester students get a chance for internships and all . If you do well you can surely get a pre placement offer. The average package is quiet well of around 21.5 lpa. And most of the students get placed of they study well . The highest package last year was of around 1.8 crores per annum. This shows that if you have the capabilities the college provides very good opportunities.The percentage placement is around 80% . I personally want to prepare for upsc after the degree.

Good campus life ammazing clubs just not restricted to studies
Excellent studies and research culture has CFI
Have many co curricular activites helps in over all personality developemnt.

Dislikes

Hostel culture is not there because hostel keeps changing every year

in 7 Semester students can sit for placement Every top company comes here, 500 companies visited 260 PPOs 1491 total offers 2.41 Cr Highest offer 29lpa avgerage 88% placement I am in 1st yr don't know about plans

The online Data Science program at IIT Madras is a great opportunity for someone who can not attend regular college because of financial constraints, illness, or other reasons. The online BS in Data Science and Application allows students to gain knowledge of this field from one of the most reputed engineering colleges in India.

The online lectures are taught by experienced faculty members from IITM. What I found most interesting was the professors' distinct approach to teaching. The students are routinely assisted by committed and supportive staff.

IIT Madras has undertaken a unique approach to imparting their expertise in the highly demanded field of Data Science.

What are your thoughts on IIT Madras offering a bachelor's degree/diploma online?

It is a full-time degree or diploma and so it will have more value than online. But if we compare IIT Madras’ online degree or diploma with any other college’s then it is better.

The duration of the course is 3 years. The mode of training is online, the lectures are mostly recorded and partly live sessions.

Whether the course will be good or not that depends on what subject you are planning to pursue. If you opt for a subject related to technology, then it is not a good option. This is because technology cannot be learned through books or audiovisual. It requires you to be present in the field to gain experience and knowledge.
