Dislikes

Girls to boys ratio is very less especially in branches like civil and mechanical.However, it is improving right now due to 10% reservation for girls in IITs. ~ Akaash R, B.Tech

Likes

The college environment and facilities.
Canteen and hostels are so good, enjoy the bicycle ridings
Professors are so good and interactive.

Dislikes

It has large distance from hostel to college
Biryani is waste in Chennai premises is so ugly

Placement Experience:

From the 1 year onwards the students can avail of placements and internship purposes. the highest package is 2.5 crores per annum and it has 90 per cent of getting placed in the institute. my plans after my degree are to get a good placement

course curriculum is so good that it will make you fall in love with data science.
faculty members and TAs are always ready to clear your doubts.
best part is that it is fully online, therefore we get a lot of time at our home. And we can work on improving our skills also.

Dislikes

You cannot get to live in campus and enjoy IITM beauty.
sometime graded assignment submission deadline is stressful.
No offline meetings with friends only online meetings with friends and other batchmates.

After you had completed your 2nd year i.e. Diploma level, you get eligible for internships and after the 3rd year you can sit for placements, or else you can choose to sit at placement in the 4th year. Many companies have visited this year and the placement cell is planning to bring top MNCs.

I want my career in research field. I want to be a researcher. Faculty student ratio os like 1:10. After completing 2 or 3 post docs after PhD they gote a job in iits and teaching method is very good. Our profs are very good. no difficulty we have faced

IITM- How the top institute in NIRF really is.

Likes

Environment,- it's full of deers and monkeys and you will love the biodiversity
Campus life- everything will get easy except your course.
Faculty - excellent faculties having collaboration all over the world.

Dislikes

Food- the most disliked thing in IITM, should be better in near future.

Placement Experience:

Students with bachelor's and master's usually opt for placement. Students pursuing phd in physics don't usually go for a placement. It's a common thing in phd everywhere. Students usually opt for post foc positions abroad. So this question is not much relevant for PhD. If you consider all other degrees, the average package is 1500-2000k/ annum where the highest goes somewhere around 10M Indian rupees. Popular companies like Google, Amazon and Microsoft recruit students regularly. 100s of companies come for recruitment and Almost 100% of students get placed for bachelors, but you can say it's 0% in a PhD as they don't even sit in an interview. My plan is to go for a post-doc position, preferably in abroad as it gives higher value to a career.(that's strange but true)

IIT Madras Online Degree

Course Curriculum Overview:

For me, I was ambitious to join an IIT campus. Because of the online degree platform, the student ratio is much more vast than no one could imagine. They provide recorded classes and offline exams depending on their syllabus. Exams aren't competitive like JEE. But yeah it is a bit hard to crack the exams.

IIT Madras BS in Data Science and Programming program Review

Likes

After every lecture, there are 4-5 questions we can solve regarding that particular class.
Learn on your own time, if you want to learn at night learn at the night, if you want a week break, then take it. Not a problem at all.
Doubt Solving Techniques, We can solve our doubts in live lecture, unofficial Whatsapp/discord group, official discourse forum.

Dislikes

They are not spading awareness regarding DSA and discourse.

Course Curriculum Overview:

I want to make a career in the AIML field and I like hybrid degree courses that's the reason I choose this degree. faculty: student ratio is around 1:150 but no need to worry about this. Because when you complete 4 months of this degree, then they will provide you access to the student's forum, there you will find 100s of students who will be ready to help you with your queries. The faculty is awesome. One of the best content. Exams are taken every month, you have to go nearby TCS Ion digital zone for that, oppe exam for coding subjects and projects for some courses. Exams are moderate.

Exploring real world experience

Likes

The campus is very eco friendly and pollution free which makes life very beautiful inside campus.
The campus is situated in the middle of city. Malls are located within 1 km from campus and beach is also not very far.
There are many societies and clubs here which interested students can join.

Dislikes

The academics are somewhat tough and during exams, students get sleepless nights.
There is very high competition in campus due to which many students leave their interests and start running behind grades.
Some of the facilities like internet inside the hostel is not that good.

Placement Experience:

The placements at IIT Madras are very good and are increasing year by year. The students become eligible for placements after the 7th semester and nearly all the students get placed. In the year 2022, around 500 companies visited our campus including Amazon, Flipkart, Microsoft, and Infosys and around 1500 offers are made. The highest package made was 2.14 crore per annum and the average package was 17.33 lakhs per annum. After getting the degree, I am planning to pursue my higher education in M.tech in a foreign country

Placement Experience:

From 6 semesters all the data and app/web development companies visit such as Microsoft Azure, Capgemini, Jp Morgan, etc. The highest placement is about 30 lpa and the average is about 5 6 lpa. About 80% of students get placed.

Faculty, they have very respecting and helping feculty
I love the way they design the course, they have a very good structure of the course
The fest they organised was so amazing one can get so much of that.

The online lectures can be more intresting
Intractive sessions by the the TA can be more functional

This is an online degree program you can complete this course with your own freedom and comfort. the faculty is good and supportive you can get in touch with them almost all the time through their open sessions and the sessions done by TA, their Teaching Assistants are also very supportive they will answer all your queries very politely and will make sure that you can understand each and every topic.

The online Data Science program at IIT Madras is a great opportunity for someone who can not attend regular college because of financial constraints, illness, or other reasons. The online BS in Data Science and Application allows students to gain knowledge of this field from one of the most reputed engineering colleges in India.

The online lectures are taught by experienced faculty members from IITM. What I found most interesting was the professors' distinct approach to teaching. The students are routinely assisted by committed and supportive staff.

IIT Madras has undertaken a unique approach to imparting their expertise in the highly demanded field of Data Science.

It is a full-time degree or diploma and so it will have more value than online. But if we compare IIT Madras’ online degree or diploma with any other college’s then it is better.

The duration of the course is 3 years. The mode of training is online, the lectures are mostly recorded and partly live sessions.

Whether the course will be good or not that depends on what subject you are planning to pursue. If you opt for a subject related to technology, then it is not a good option. This is because technology cannot be learned through books or audiovisual. It requires you to be present in the field to gain experience and knowledge.
