Dislikes

The way of respond by workers when we want any help
The class accommodations and faculty interactions

There was no ac in the hostels from btech 1st yr to phd
In our hostle there is no cloths drying fesility

The course curriculum is so cool in iitm because we were doing well in the course and we chose this course because we wanted to learn about the mechanics and design of automobiles, etc and the qualification of the faculty was iits and nits and iisc and Cambridge University term exams were in every one month in the semester

The campus is awesome and filled with greenary, deers, monkeys and humans. The hostel became my second home here. The faculty are friendly and give opportunity to meet even after class

From the 5th semester students become eligible for campus placements, Google, Microsoft, big tech companies finance companies, and startups, The average package for the year 2022 is approximately 20L/annum. And there are more than 1,500 offers made each year. Almost everyone gets placed with more or less salary. I want to either pursue higher education or join a job based on my interests at that period. But I will do what I am interested in.

My Life at IITM

Likes

Informal club is the best in IIT Madras.
Faculties doesn't mind you walking to class in shorts.

The gate securities are arrogant as hell

Placement Experience:

Placements at IIT Madras are fantastic! Students get the chance to dive into the job market from their 6th semester onwards, and boy, the list of companies that roll in is impressive. You've got giants like Google, Microsoft, and a bunch more snatching up talent left and right. The highest packages are jaw-dropping and around 14,00,000 a month, and the average ones are nothing to scoff at either. Pretty much everyone here walks away with a sweet job offer. It's a great feeling, I tell you. As for me, I'm all set to chase my dream tech job after I get that shiny degree. The opportunities are endless, and it's an exciting ride ahead!

A Noobs Guide to IITM

Likes

Campus is one of the major plus you get to live a proper university life and you have all the major facilities inside the campus.
Saarang is one of the main cultural event and you get subsidized tickets for being a student.

Dislikes

Sometimes professors are really rude they don't even listen to students concerns

Placement Experience:

We have a placement drive and a portal in which you apply for the company. Almost everyone gets placed in IITM through the portal. It generally comprises sending your resume to a company and they shortlist people based on your CV for exams. Based on your performance in the exam you get selected for an interview and an offer is given.

My Best and Bad Experiences of My College

Campus life is best hostels are 24/7 open we can go out and come whenever we want
The campus placement is best as we can apply for internships whenever we want we get a lot of mails to our college mail

Dislikes

Academics load is too much here and classes are also too much

Placement Experience:

The students can apply for placements after their 3rd year generally All the top companies that u have heard about are here like Google, Microsoft, Meta, Goldman sacs etc and they make very high offers The highest is generally 1.5cr above and the average goes to 20 lakh generally Around 90% of students get placed There are plans that I have made like creating a startup and other things

there are so many animals like monkey , deer it is very nice
I like faculty members they are good teacher

I don't much no about placement. I think it is good. so many companies are visited here like Google, Microsoft, Amazon etc the average package of iitm is 18 lpa and highest package is 2.14 crore . it is too good

Exploring Excellence : Academic and Innovation Frontiers of IIT Madras

The professors are well educated and highly experienced and curriculum are designed in great flexibility which allows us to take courses from other departments as well.
The freedom offered to sudents is incomparable to other colleges.There is no entry/exit time for hostel and for campus, so we can go out whenever we want without asking any permission. And food courts/canteen are open 24/7.
Every event,college fest,innovation clubs,placements,internship are coordinated/conducted by dedicated group of students which inculcates teamwork and leadership skills.

Dislikes

Girls to boys ratio is very less especially in branches like civil and mechanical.However, it is improving right now due to 10% reservation for girls in IITs.
Mess food are not as good as compared to other IITs.However, there are plenty of canteens within campus.
The academis are tough and there is very high competition among peers to get good grades.

Placement is an important part of every student in college life. From 6th semester onwards, students are eligible for placements. In the 2022-2023 season, there were 445 offers and 407 PPOs.Also, there were 15 international offers. Out of these, 25 offers were more than 1 Cr per annum. A total of 480+ companies visited IIT M. Companies such as Microsoft, Google, Oracle, Texas Instruments, Bajaj auto, Qualcomm, Samsung, Morgan Stanley, and Goldman Sachs offered job positions.

Miss campus life and hostel life which are not good.

Course Curriculum Overview:

I choose this course for getting a good opportunity and develop our skills and learn something new. This course is online so, it's not important to the faculty and student ratio. Almost faculties are educated and they are IITians. After every 3-month term exam is to be taken by Institute. It's not much difficult for those students who attend regular classes and submitted their weekly assignments.

From 5 th semester we are eligible for placements. All the top companies have hired and made a decent 4/5 offers. The highest package was around 2.14 cr per annum. Avg package was 20 lakh per annum. 80 per cent students get placed

Story of IITM

Likes

The nature and environment is really good without any pollution.
CFI (Centre for Innovation) clubs are really something else. You can learn a lot from them.
The buildings and infrastructure are really good even thogh its an old campus.

Dislikes

Lack of awareness on mental health which leads to suicides.
No one cares about you if you aren't interactive enough.
Shitty seniors in clubs who give the coordinator position in clubs only to those whome they know. No talent recognition.

IIT Madras has one of the best placements stats in the country. It's ranked NIRF 1. Students become eligible for placements from the 7th semester and for internships around the 5th semester. In cse department, the average placement package is around 30 lpa. Last year a student got around 1.5 crore from a quant company. A lot of big companies come here.

The online Data Science program at IIT Madras is a great opportunity for someone who can not attend regular college because of financial constraints, illness, or other reasons. The online BS in Data Science and Application allows students to gain knowledge of this field from one of the most reputed engineering colleges in India.

The online lectures are taught by experienced faculty members from IITM. What I found most interesting was the professors' distinct approach to teaching. The students are routinely assisted by committed and supportive staff.

IIT Madras has undertaken a unique approach to imparting their expertise in the highly demanded field of Data Science.

What are your thoughts on IIT Madras offering a bachelor's degree/diploma online?

It is a full-time degree or diploma and so it will have more value than online. But if we compare IIT Madras’ online degree or diploma with any other college’s then it is better.

The duration of the course is 3 years. The mode of training is online, the lectures are mostly recorded and partly live sessions.

Whether the course will be good or not that depends on what subject you are planning to pursue. If you opt for a subject related to technology, then it is not a good option. This is because technology cannot be learned through books or audiovisual. It requires you to be present in the field to gain experience and knowledge.
