Dislikes

Girls to boys ratio is very less especially in branches like civil and mechanical.However, it is improving right now due to 10% reservation for girls in IITs. ~ Akaash R, B.Tech

IITM BS Course Details

Likes

High class, world level, excellent professors
We get assignments every week which helps most for our exams
Nice interaction with course instructors on gmeet

Dislikes

Lecture are made very boring, they can enhance them more
We get only mcq's in our exams, we need some descriptives
Study material is available online only.

Likes

The IIT ecosystem, opportunities to learn and grow.
The academic excellence, the research scenario, curriculum.
Placements and career opportunities are decent

Dislikes

Small batch size and alumni network is an issue
The focus is more on theoretical side of things
Placements is common for Tech MBA, MBA and MS program of the department

Placement Experience:

Placement opportunities are decent summer internship program starts from the next month of you joining College in July the company start coming in interview starts happening and internships begin in May next year similarly final placements start from October and by December they usually end multiple good companies like Deloitte visit the campus. IIT Madras has been offering 100% placements continuously for the past few years and average CTC has been increasing rapidly over the past years

I have been attending classes online of data science, it's quite good experience
The faculty are pretty good they taught us the best
Curriculum of this course is good , specially this course is designed for it

Dislikes

As this course is online, so you have attend online video lectures on laptop and u know screentime increases

Placement Experience:

Placement is very good for jee advanced students but this course is not btech , this bs in data science They is separate placement cell for ds students and we are pretty sure about good placement if you have skill and good cgpa

Our Placements are going good But not that much.If u are completing this course u are eligible for all type of govt. exams.So u can choose that. Or u can search for job through third party sources like linkedin

Review about IITM BS degree in Data Science and Programming

Placements of IIT Madras is obviously good as it is IIT and also provide intership opportunity from the second year. Average package are currently 15 lakh per annum but surely as it is a new degree it will increase with time and crore package will .
Also we are getting the access of campus and the main thing for which IIT is know because of its students, so will be getting brainstorming session with top brains in the country. Also after meeting then we get so much to explore as they will startup
And facilities provided in the campus is a lot more then what fees they have taken.

Dislikes

Too much big campus, you will need to purchase cycle for you daily chores.
As it is in Chennai so outside campus all people are tamil speaking.
Weather of south India too much humidity is there .

Placement Experience:

It's IIT so first of all placements are guaranteed itself, since it's a new course packages are not going that much high like regular students of BTech program but within two-three year it will match those standard as it's a demanding skill and growing industry. Also after this many students are planing for Gate exam as it's syllabus exactly matches with our curriculum for GATE DA paper .

Ichoosed b.tech mech because i like to get more physical strain and pratical knowledge on real life problems. the institute is having research parks and many starttup tech teams .all the e-cell and many tech teams which are quite intresting.

My course is Bachelor of science in Data Science And Application. It is a growing field for jobs.
My course is online so I can study from the comfort of my home.
The placement and internship support of IIT Madras is very good.

Dislikes

As my course is online there is no hostel life so I sometimes miss it.
The exams are so hard to pass. And if you fail you will be kicked out of the course.
As it is an online course so no campus life is available for you.

Placement Experience:

Once you complete the third level of this course which bsc degree wo get eligible for campus placement opportunities. Since only 4 years have passed after starting of this course there is only one placement drive till now. But according to sources 2500 students got placed and many more got internship in many leading companies. As I have heard the highest package is around 12 lpa.

IIT Madras: Reasons why consecutive 4 NIRF titles?

The academic excellence & research opportunities provided at this institute.
Lush green campus with beautiful wildlife living in symphony.
Good record of placements & internships.

Dislikes

Hostel infrastructure needs a lot of improvement.
Mess food is not up to the mark, specially when comes to North Indian diet.
The competitveness. Although there are highly bright students coming together at this place but not all of them are helpful towards you.

Placement Experience:

Placement percentage at IIT Madras is quite good. considering nation's premier institute, top MNCs & other companies come to hire bright students as their efficient employees. Students have to sit for placement in their pre-final semester. PPTs, written exams, and technical rounds happen before the phase-1 when companies come to interview the short-listed students. The student has to first register on the placement & internship portal to get registered for the placement process. According to the report released by the placement portal of IITM for the year 2022-23 no. of companies visited were 480 while the offers made were 1612. The highest package offered was 13163530, while the median stands at 1700000 per annum. considering both the phase-1 & phase-2 of placements around 65% of students were placed while many others opted for higher studies or research programs. My personal plans are to get a job with a decent package.

Rollercoaster in IITM

Things i liked are environment here which is beautiful.The trees are all around you where u feel the sir almost everytime
The campus is in the centre of city which is needed for students to roam.
Many restaurants are nearby where u can dine the food .if the mess food is not goodd that day you cluld enjoy eating it outside

Dislikes

Stress is so much that u need to study daily to get good cgpa
The weather here is worst that you feel sweaty everytime even in winter sometines
U feel dismotivated if u dont study or copeup with others

4th year students. Are eligible for campus placements.many companies like L &T ,AESEC AUTODESK etc visit and give opportunity to students.from our branch 87 percent students placed.I haven't planned anything for my future yet .I would discuss after 4th year.highest went upto 2 crores

The online Data Science program at IIT Madras is a great opportunity for someone who can not attend regular college because of financial constraints, illness, or other reasons. The online BS in Data Science and Application allows students to gain knowledge of this field from one of the most reputed engineering colleges in India.

The online lectures are taught by experienced faculty members from IITM. What I found most interesting was the professors' distinct approach to teaching. The students are routinely assisted by committed and supportive staff.

It is a full-time degree or diploma and so it will have more value than online. But if we compare IIT Madras’ online degree or diploma with any other college’s then it is better.

The duration of the course is 3 years. The mode of training is online, the lectures are mostly recorded and partly live sessions.

Whether the course will be good or not that depends on what subject you are planning to pursue. If you opt for a subject related to technology, then it is not a good option. This is because technology cannot be learned through books or audiovisual. It requires you to be present in the field to gain experience and knowledge.
