Dislikes

The quality of education is top notch for sure
Network with the brightest minds of India
Number of opportunities you can get in such a premier institution

Placement Experience:

After 3rd year you can opt for placements in terms of internships or job offers. Being the number 1 IIT in India, it is visited by many multinational companies and the packages are quite good as well. About 80% of the students have got internships and jobs whereas the other percentage usually decides for higher studies.

Review of IIT Madras

Likes

I love the nature and the environment and the wildlife of this campus.
The campus provides good atmosphere to improve our mental and physical health.
The campus provides us lot of freedom with less restrictions.

Dislikes

I dislike that many people here always study and there is lot of peer pressure.
I dislike some courses in curriculum, which are not necessary in present generation.
I dislike that it takes lot of time to change anything.

Placement Experience:

Campus placements start in the ending of first semister of fourth year for the 4-year undergraduate students. Campus placements happen every year in december for passing out students. Around 450+ companies visit for placements. The highest package was 1.3 crore per annum and average is around 19 lakhs per annum. Almost around 55% of students get placed and many people go for higher studies or go after chasing their passion or building their start ups. I wanted to work in the software industry after my graduation.

Likes

The campus is vibrant with different states of students and their mindsets.
The weather at IIT madras is so good .it has a wide variety of wildlife like deer ,monkeys and so many.
The professors provide a full time guidance to the students who really need their help and support.

Dislikes

some times i feel like students are facing work pressure and stress.
The infrastructure at IIT madras can still be improved by redesigning the departments.
These days the campus facing bad weather conditions due to summer.

the computer science curriculum at IIT madras is comprehensive ,blending foundational theory with modern applications,its highly relevant , equipping students with industry ready skills and innovative reasearch perspectives. faculty is qualified and also teach well.

IITM campus review

Likes

I like our Biotechnology department very much because the it is designed very well.
The campus greenary steels everybodys heart.
The campus is provided with wide variety of cafes, food courts aswell.

Dislikes

Some times the weather conditions can put the students in risk
More no of infrastructure redesigning can be done to lot of departments.
There is one lake in the iit madras. I heared this so many times but want to see atleast once.

The students are eligible for the campus placements from the 7Th semester. Companies like Biogen, Genentech, and Novo Nordisk visit. As of now the placements are good for the biotechnology department. Incase the student did not get placed in campus, there so many chances that they can search for off campus placements.

The professor are very knowledgeable if not very good at teaching. One can learn very much from there professors.
The college administration treats you as if you're adult. You are free to leave campus/hostel whenever you want.
The people around you are very smart and they push you to your limits. You will never be the smartest person in the room

Dislikes

75% criteria is a thing that sometimes create problems.

After 6th semester students are eligible for campus placement.you can look up at the official placement reports for exact numbers but mostly 80-90% of the batch gets placed. Highest package is 3.67crores and average is at 22lakhs per annum.

Life in IIT

Likes

The opportunities provided by the institute to develop our skills
The diverse community inside a small forest in the middle of the city
The professors really helped in making boring concepts interesting

Dislikes

The hostel and mess system being unfair in some ways
The politics inside the institutes elections
The division between language groups and general hatred towards Tamil students and Professors

Placement Experience:

Placements are usually really good in our college. So many people competing to join our college is usually for this reason. but for this last year, because of the economy, the placements wasn't that good. the highest package is around a crore. around 50 percent of students get placements usually but not last year

Life at IIT Madras

Likes

The campus itself and the clubs to engage.
Wildlife in the campus. Deers and cats are the best part of the campus.
Cultural fests and Technical fests to have more fun.

Placement Experience:

The institute has seen 50%+ placements this year. The average package is 40lpa and the highest is 1.4 crores. Many students opt to pursue higher education or research after completing their courses at the institute

My side of the IIT story

Likes

I like how the campus life replicates a real world society.
The numerous opportunities available in almost field.
The green environment built all around the campus.

Dislikes

The north and south feeling among the students.
Unhealthy competition students create around them.
The way the elections don't care about worthy candidate.

Placement Experience:

The placements are very well taken care by the institute. Students sit for placements after 7th semester and before 8th semester. There is a student body from every department which takes care of students from their department.

Btech life with pros and cons

Likes

Technical and cultural Fest which are held in institute.
Our campus is surrounded with forest area, but it is good in mornings we can feel fresh air.
They provide free bus service inside the institute.

Dislikes

As it is forest area monkeys will be disturbing us.
As Im living in chennai the climate is too hot so this afternoon classes will be boring
political things elections will be held in our campus but there will no genune polling

Placement Experience:

placements are in 7th sem for btect students and 9th sem for dualdegree . offers will bw made after seeing over exam results for placement exams and resume we submit in that companies. More than 75 percentage people can get placed.

The online Data Science program at IIT Madras is a great opportunity for someone who can not attend regular college because of financial constraints, illness, or other reasons. The online BS in Data Science and Application allows students to gain knowledge of this field from one of the most reputed engineering colleges in India.

The online lectures are taught by experienced faculty members from IITM. What I found most interesting was the professors' distinct approach to teaching. The students are routinely assisted by committed and supportive staff.

IIT Madras has undertaken a unique approach to imparting their expertise in the highly demanded field of Data Science.

What are your thoughts on IIT Madras offering a bachelor's degree/diploma online?

It is a full-time degree or diploma and so it will have more value than online. But if we compare IIT Madras’ online degree or diploma with any other college’s then it is better.

The duration of the course is 3 years. The mode of training is online, the lectures are mostly recorded and partly live sessions.

Whether the course will be good or not that depends on what subject you are planning to pursue. If you opt for a subject related to technology, then it is not a good option. This is because technology cannot be learned through books or audiovisual. It requires you to be present in the field to gain experience and knowledge.
