Dislikes

Girls to boys ratio is very less especially in branches like civil and mechanical.However, it is improving right now due to 10% reservation for girls in IITs. ~ Akaash R, B.Tech

A review of IITM

Likes

The college has a very good academic standard and the real world example oriented assignments and exams made the learning interesting
College infrastructure and the value given to each student is very nice
Faculty was well versed with their are of research and their explinations was always on point

Dislikes

once semester starts the three and half months will be full hectic
Assignments are good sometimes it will take time

Course Curriculum Overview:

The courses are designed in a way that is on par with the new advancements happening in the outside world; the assignments are real-world applications and give the confidence to solve new problems. Exams and assignments will all be weighted equally so that continuous evaluation is taken care of.

Why you should prefer IIT Madras over other IIT's for Mtech/Btech (CSE).

Likes

Campus is green and cool environment here , is as such does not feel pressure here , faculty's are too good cooperative and curriculum is best here they teach us in perfect order and semester lasts 4 month here.

Cirriculum is perfect , machine learning is specialised here , course like Deep learning , PRML , linear algebra , AI offered here are best. Grade distribution is also fine here not as such burder , they give assignments and quizes.

Great faculty ,and doubt clearing sessions ,weakly seasons, assignment every week for practice
Various clubs like sports ,dance ,singing , painting improves oir skills
Get the chance to visit iit madras and explore it

Placement Experience:

I think after completing foundation level students are eligible for intership.They also prepare us for intership ,teaches python dsa and important skill for placements. There are many companies which visit and gave intership and placements. The average placement is 10 lpa and those work hard and prepare well will get higher package also ,it depends on the students After completing the i want to start a startup and build my own company.

The college infrastructure is better as it's an old iit
it is the best iit than guwahati ,kanpur and kharagpur
The college life is best and you can find everything and every resources for your development

Dislikes

The students are not supportive as such.
The campus is big you have to get a bicycle
The exams are a bit tough and recurring ,you will not get enough time

1.The students get eleigible after 7th semester 2.This year approx 3 to 4 hundred companies made the offer 3 the highest package was of 36 lakh and the average package was 14 lakh 4.The details about percentage placemets are not made public yet 5.I have to get a mtech in data science

I like the environment and nature of my college
I like the exposure and the experience which is given by the college
I like the way our professor teaches us in our college

Dislikes

I dislike the weather of my college it's too hot
I dislike the food of because there is less Verity for north indian
I dislike that our library closes at 12 am

Placement Experience:

We are eligible for placement from 4th year but we can do internship program from 2nd year they will provide enough opportunities to the students for internship and placement this is our first batch that's why placement record didn't came

IIT Madras BS Data Science Review- is it worth it ?

Likes

The faculty the infrastructure and everything is top notch.
The social life, as my degree is online I didn't felt that I don't have any college life the groups societies are a great addition to the social life
The curriculum, data science curriculum is top notch and updated according to market

Dislikes

Some faculty staff can't even explain in good ways
The exam structure, all exams are on the same day which I didn't like
Placement cell is not that great in this degree, but they are constantly improving

In there 2nd or 3rd year students become eligible for placements, although college provide many internships and placements but still the average package is 8lpa as of now which is good. Many companies like Aditya Birla, ITC , Deloitte visited and hired some students I have no plans for masters as of now and will try to get placed If no on campus placement, then we can get a job offer off campus as the curriculum and skills will be up to date

Dislikes

The bus facilities are worst. The most serious problem is language barrier, you cannot communicate with lower grade employees untill you don't know the Tamil language

Placement Experience:

Placements were excellent. In my batch all of the students get placement. Average package was around 10 LPA. 100% students got placements. I am working with an organisation right now so for now I don't have any further plans.

Be an Iitian without JEE

Study materials that they provide are top notch.
Grading system is too good. You can score good grades with less effort.
Planning and implementation of exam dates, it don't clash with my other work.

Dislikes

I think the fees get too much for higher levels.
Sometimes I receive sponsored advertisement on my college email.
End term exam is too tiring. It is of 6 hours on same day but in 2 halfs.

Course Curriculum Overview:

The course has four levels foundation, diploma, BSc, BS. One can exit by completing any of these levels. The course includes study materials such as video lectures, practice assignment, graded assignment and much more on weekly basis. Thus, the level of education is high. While talking about exams each term has 3 exams: quiz1, quiz2 and end term. All are conducted within 1 month gap. Also the exams are centre based which makes it more competitive.

Constantly organised events for students
Supportive learning environment and availability of faculties
Constant self check of skill set and abilities

Dislikes

Sometimes the content gets boring and repititive

Placement Experience:

This degree's first batch hasn't graduated yet so I can't give you a figure right now but I can tell you that the internship stipends are usually around 50k to 60k on average. Companies like Google and wipro are some of the places where internship offers have been made. I want to work on some of my own projects after getting the degree so yes, it is really nice. To add to all this the main part is that these students share the same opportunities as the btech students at IIT Madras.

Environmental is the best u can find here because it is 700 acre campus maintaining a good ecosystem with the wildlife and human
Fest and programs makes in the campus moments most rememberable .the memories are undeniably unforgettable
Faculty is the best they are more like an family members they understand u easily and gives advices and helps u as an family

Dislikes

Attendance is 85 percentage one of the I most definitely disliked
8 AM classes 😴 another most mission impossible task to wake and attend

Course Curriculum Overview:

The first aspect for choosing is to be civil engineering course because it is easy and stressful to other courses in the other branches. The curriculum is packed and designed a way to encourage you to be more practical and helps ahead for the academic and professional career development They are outstanding in these things minor problems and discomfort can be rectified. The frequency of exams is 1.5 month / exam I think it's apt and good time according to the difficulty level and well planned curriculum.

The online Data Science program at IIT Madras is a great opportunity for someone who can not attend regular college because of financial constraints, illness, or other reasons. The online BS in Data Science and Application allows students to gain knowledge of this field from one of the most reputed engineering colleges in India.

The online lectures are taught by experienced faculty members from IITM. What I found most interesting was the professors' distinct approach to teaching. The students are routinely assisted by committed and supportive staff.

IIT Madras has undertaken a unique approach to imparting their expertise in the highly demanded field of Data Science.

What are your thoughts on IIT Madras offering a bachelor's degree/diploma online?

It is a full-time degree or diploma and so it will have more value than online. But if we compare IIT Madras’ online degree or diploma with any other college’s then it is better.

The duration of the course is 3 years. The mode of training is online, the lectures are mostly recorded and partly live sessions.

Whether the course will be good or not that depends on what subject you are planning to pursue. If you opt for a subject related to technology, then it is not a good option. This is because technology cannot be learned through books or audiovisual. It requires you to be present in the field to gain experience and knowledge.
