Placement Experience:
student typically eligible for placement in 7th semester, of their UG programme.
many multinational companies ,startup, and research companies like CTC , Microsoft , Wipro and etc.
highest package - 1.9 cr per annum (domestic) and 2.5 cr per annum(international)
average package is 26.25 Lakhs per annum.
almost 80% students got placement in iitk.
I will choose higher study in abroad.

- I really like mess food as it include great variety and taste.
- I love hostel life as there is no restriction at all.
- I also like sports facilities available for students.
Dislikes
- I don't like reservation for such esteem college.
- I don't like female reservation in the college.
Placement Experience:
I think there is no competition of placements of IIT in India. IITs have best placements records. On other institute is near IITs. It has about 95% placement stats which is mind-blowing. All top companies visit IITs.

Course Curriculum Overview:
I was quite interested in electrical engineering.My father is also an electrical Engineer.the faculty student ratio is excellent.The term exams were quite easy and one can pass by studying little.the term exams are held quite frequently.

- Campus is great . You can roam around the campus as much as you want .
- Freedom is given to the students in terms of mobility and courses
- Seniors are helpful. Whatever activity you want to engage in seniors are always there to encourage you.
Dislikes
- Hostels could have been better . Accomodation facilities can be improved from what they are now , specially for btech students.
- Mess food in all the hostels can get better . Although eating mess food becomes a habit with time but there is a scope for lots of improvement.
- Grading in courses of IIT kanpur is very strict . IIT kanpur acedmics are tougher than other iits
Placement Experience:
Campus placements of IIT kanpur are great . Avg package is around 15 lakhs . If you are in a good branch you can get paid higher on avg. Companies come to hire students in their 4th year . Placement season was on peak in 2022 , but in 2023 it saw a dip..

- Hectic schedule, there are so many classes on some days .
- PE classes , there are physical education classes early in the morning and are very tiring
- No evening snacks, there is provision of evening snacks in other IITs but there is no such provision here at IITK
Course Curriculum Overview:
New to the system, everything here seemed quite unfamiliar. Moreover the faculties here are more research oriented but they do solve doubts and guide when needed. They are so much cooperative and care a lot. Some even call us to their quarters and talk with us , pamper us. They are caring .

- I also liked that all the classrooms are air conditioned.
- I also liked that the campus promotes the urge to learn something new.
Dislikes
- I disliked that there are not enough sports facilities in hostel itself
- I also didn't like the penalty system for late message bill payment.
- I also didn't like that the warm water facilities are not regular.
Placement Experience:
Students become eligible for placements from their seventh semester. A lot of companies such as Google, meta etc come to the campus. The highest package can go up to 4 crores per year and almost 80% students are getting placement.

- Fests …we can enjoy the presence of celebrities in fests
Dislikes
- There js no specific website to check our attendence
- 8 am classes is winters …a serious issue
- Seniors force us to participate in interhall competitions against our will
Course Curriculum Overview:
I had keen interest in electrical brach and i am happy i secured this branch in a reputed instituion
The ratio is 1:20 over here approx
The teachers are highly qualified and have good teaching skills

Course Curriculum Overview:
I am having a keen interest in department of mechanical engineering, so I grabbed the opportunity and had secured the admission in this college. Here the exams are really difficult and the professor won't be giving the high grades easily

- The faculty is really friendly . You can ask them for help any time.
- The culture of IIT Kanpur is really great.
Dislikes
- I disliked how seniors force you to participate in interhall competitions to serve their own purposes.
- There is no option to check your attendance online. You have to go to the office instead.
- The schedule is very tight here . You are always preparing for something.
Placement Experience:
The placements are one of the best in the country. The average package is around 25 lakhs . The students become eligible after the 7th semester. The campus provides various internship opportunities and you can even get a Pre Placements Offer . My plans are to get a job after getting the degree.

What is your review of the earth sciences department at IIT Kanpur?

The Earth Sciences is a Department imparting education related to the study of Earth and its geological reliefs. The best part about this Department is that every course here overlaps with some or the other course of other departments making it a multifaceted one.
Earth Sciences curriculum overlaps with many courses in Material Science and Physics, Civil and Chemical, and even Electrical and CSE. This provides diversity in the overall learning experience of the course making it very interesting.
The only major issue is that due to common courses, the curriculum is vague and has no well-defined structure and content. We hope that this flaw is taken care of in the near future.
The program provides versatile job prospects even in the field of Satellite Remote Sensing, weather prediction, and geothermal power plants.

Is IIT Guwahati becoming the next IIT Kanpur?

Both IIT Guwahati and IIT Kanpur are well-respected institutions, known for their high-quality education and research. Comparing the two is already justified and saying that one institution is becoming the next of the other is more so. Both institutions have their strengths and areas of expertise. Yet, if I was to choose one I would have always gone for IIT Kanpur.
Some points that favor my preference are as follows:
- The quality of coursework at IIT Kanpur is extremely challenging and will keep you on your toes always. It offers the best quality of education and you will learn much more than other IITs if you are regular to classes and take your academics seriously,
- The usual schedule of a student at IIT Kanpur is not always jammed, unlike the general opinion. The timings of the clubs align with the classes and you can take out time for both if you are good at managing your time well.
- Another challenging aspect of IIT Kanpur is its tough grading system, (10,8,6,4..) under which anything below 10 is 8. Thus you are under tremendous pressure to maintain your CGPA and is enough of a motivating factor.
Overall, even if Guwahati was to be compared to IIT Kanpur, it still has a long way to go until it becomes the next IIT Kanpur.
