IIT Kharagpur Reviews on Placements, Faculty and Facilities

For MTech ,placements typically occur in the 3rd semester and almost all students sit for it. Many Product based companies visit here including the MAANG companies and many Quant and fintech companies too. The placements go for 10+ days considering the interview phase ,the OA rounds start from the month of September itself at the end of first year. The highest package offered was around 1.5 cr from CSE (BTech) and from MTech it was around 70lpa. Almost 90 percent students of MTech CSE are placed till now of our previous batch. I plan to get a job from here but plans might change based on my projects.

In third year or 6th semester students become eligible for campus placements. Highest package is 2.14Cr and the average is 14L per annum. On an average of 75-80% studentas are getting placed in campus placements

Aspects I appreciate and area for improvement: positive World glass faculty professors are highly knowledgeable, many with global research contributions. Well structured programs with elective and research opportunities. Vibrant clubs technical fasts and cultural activities. Top company visit, ensuring great job offer for students. High placement rates Top recruiters from tech, finance and consulting visit campus. Internship support college assist students in securing prestigious internships. Alumni network strong global presence, helpful in career growth. Improvement needed some nichs fields require more placement opportunities. Strong foundation courses provide in-depth theoretical and practical knowledge. Flexibility in electives students can choose interdisciplinary subjects. Need for more industry exposure more real world application and internships should be incorporated.

First and second semester in first year is mainly common courses. Almost all the students will study these subjects. These all are not relevant for the course you have taken. But still it seems like basics at each level is somewhat good.

Students are offered campus placement in the last year, they can di internships from the second year itself, I am not much knowledgeable of this as i am still in the first year itself. I would say that 85% of all students are getting placed.

The placements session happens in 2 sessions usually starts from 5th sem.top companies like Apple, Microsoft, Google, and capital one are known to participate in IIT kharagpur placements. last year in 2024 highest package is 2.68cr per annum. average salary was around 24 lakhs

There are none to inspire me i just came like this is the highest priority of all the IIT aspirants There is no real world application problems connected to the curriculum I guess they should keep something that we use in job into curriculum

They are very good actually because lot of companies come but there are lot of politics In third year they will get internship In fourth year placement for btech For mtech add one year extra All the top companies come here like google microsoft etc 70% 2 years i will do job and after mba

placements are very good in my college and there are international placements also and top comapanies like microsoft and goggle also come here placements statr from last year i think so this year 371 offers were made i heard somewhere high package of this year is not reveled i dont know and percentage is belongs to the branch also to which you belong i am studying here but no interested in job i want to do my startup or something like that .

Placements start in your final year i.e. 5th year of IDD (Integrated Dual Degree) (IDD has been stopped), 4th year BTech/BS students, 2nd year MSc, 2nd year MTech, Research Scholars who have done their defence by February, etc. The placement process starts in August, & first, you have to make your CV. The companies' tests start in October. By December 1, the company's interview process starts, and many people start getting offers and by Dec. 14, placement Phase 1 is over. Then, in January, nearly from the 14th, phase 2 starts. About 2800 students sat for placement season 2024-25. About 1400 students have been placed in Phase 1, and by the end of Phase 2, about 1900 students will be placed through campus placements. This data includes everyone across departments and across courses, including PPOs. However, it doesn't include data from VGSOM (Vinod Gupta School of Management). The highest offer was nearly 2.5 Cr+. This time, it was from the CSE Department, but in the last two years, the highest was from the ECE department. The average is nearly 18 LPA. Profiles that are offered include core roles ( every department has its core roles like Law Schools have Corporate Lawyers or Patent Agents, the Chemical Department has a core role as a Chemical Engineer, the Mechanical Department has a Mechanical Engineer, etc.), Product roles (Product Management, Product Analyst) (*This year product roles were very less), Consulting roles (Management Consulting), Business Analyst roles, Finance roles (Corporate Finance, Investment Analyst, Equity Researcher, Quantitative Researcher, Trading, etc.), Data Analyst, Data Scientist, Data Engineering, Software Development roles, etc. The maximum number of roles is for software, about 40%.
