IIT Kharagpur Reviews on Placements, Faculty and Facilities

Students are eligible for placements for during their pre final semester and it happens during the month of December. Many of top companies around the world visit the campus (Microsoft, Google, P&G, Nvidia etc) and around 1500 offers are made every year. The highest package is around Rs 2 Crore for Glean(US) and on average Rs 15 Lakh is there,around 70-80 percent students get placed in the recent slowdown, in normalcy around 85-90 percent get placed. My plan is to geta job in IT industry.

I like this campus very much.and i am studying my dream course also.that inspired me to take this college.i only wish that the teachers improve their teaching methods.tge equipment and all are very good.

Students are eligible for campus placements after their 6th semester at the college. A lot of companies visit the college and of various types to offer placements to the large pool of students awaiting them. Offers are made to around 70 percent of the students who apply. Highest package ranges from 2 to 3 Crore per annum. I will apply for a core placement on campus.

The campus placement starts mostly at 7th semester or 4th year students . The major companies that visit are , Google, vipro , Qualcomm, nvidia,etc the highest packages range about 2 cr and average lies in the range of 30L as per official data. my plans after a data is a Mtech degree from a foreign University.

With the curriculum our college have adopted very well. Earlier 1st year students like to have only common courses but now as our branch is expanding lot more so to cope up our institution has introduced departmental courses in the 1st year itself. The reason of choosing this department is because of rising of AI and requirements of hardware in the industry. Our curriculum includes labs to get hands on experience with the instrument

Placement opportunities depend based on your interests whether you would pursue core or non-core options. I would say non-core options are slightly better than core. But you can always pursue higher studies both in our country and abroad

Placements this year are very good and lots of students are placed on campus with very high to pretty decent salaries. The average salary is around 16 Lpa which reflects the excellent performance of students availing for placements. But in case if someone is not placed they can apply off campus and get a job with the help of a strong alumni network.

The internship season starts in August and will begin in the 3rd year of the students college life. If we did not get the opportunity we can sit for placement which will be scheduled in December and all the final year student can avail the opportunity. The highest package can go up to 1.3 crores, and the lowest will be 5 lakh. The median and average salaries lie in the range of 12LPA to 13LPA mostly.

I choose my course that chemistry because of the fact that I had got the rank that came under it and another reason is chemistry department is quite old here even if kanpur chemistry department is better for core, you will get chance for non core too here. Courses now deal more on chemistry related stuff. No need for course improvement Frequency is near end and mid sem there will be exams mode

The applications for placements generally start from the start of the graduating year. The core companies that visit are- schlumberger, exxonmobil, reliance, and other ONGC companies. For non-core placement almost all of the notable companies like fakebook, google, microsoft, goldmann&sachs and many more come. The highest packages can be as much as 1 crore. But median package is around 15-16 LPA. 70% to 80% of students of all branches get placed. Placement ratios in BS courses and lower branches are comparatively lesser. My plan after getting this degree would be to do MBA from any of the top IIMs. Otherwise if the subject really suits my research interest I can go for research in foreign universities.
