- Additionally, the institution recognizes the importance of supporting students financially and offers various avenues for scholarships, financial assistance, and campus employment opportunities.
- Faculties are highly experienced with great knowledge and some of them have good teaching and mentorship style.
- The classes are also very nice, the library is beautiful, well organized and peaceful.
Dislikes
- We get information about scholarships, they are not interested in giving scholarships to poor students like us.
- I disliked the lack of facilities in college sports, or music room facilities gym and all and mess is also not good
- There is one almirah and one table and one bed provided in the hostel but the mess is really not good which was a problem in every college.

I like the metallurgy department thats why i choose this branch to get to know more about this .
Many teacher should improove on this they take this branch so lightly they work hard on its academics .. through which students can avail good knowledge

- The college provides a steady platform for developing one's own skills, through tech clubs and hackathons. People interested in self improvement through learning will never be short of opportunities here, as there is always something new to try on..
- The research culture in the institute is quite well developed, especially for the Computer Science, Electronics and Metallurgy departments. The research output is excellent and the Professors are well known in their respective fields.
- The faculty is top notch, they take their time cultivating interest in the subjects and help clear any doubts if required.
Dislikes
- The administration can be slow and inactive sometimes, and requires a large push before taking any steps on any major decision.
Placement Experience:
Students are eligible for placements from 7th semester. Over one hunder companies visit the campus every year and nearly 85-90% placement is achieved every year, varying with different economic conditions of every year. However, even in recession the institute has done well for itself in placements.

- Faculties are very helpful and they involve you in their project if you ask for.
- College facilities are good as well as the infrastructure
- You will get free time to develop your skills and the course is flexible with many electives.
Dislikes
- Mess food will not be upto your expectations
- You won't be allowed to leave the campus after 10 pm unless in case of emergency
- Library is not open 24*7 and it has timing of 8 am to 9 pm
Placement Experience:
Students become eligible for campus internship from 5th semester and for placement from 7th semester. Average package is around 13 lpa and highest is 82 lpa. All types of companies in quant,core, software sector visits for various roles.many even go for higher studies abroad. I plan to do masters after graduation

- Thanks I like in this campus are infrastructure is very very good then the campus life is very very good the quality of social interaction is also good like I am a master student but I entered also PhD scholars interact with the BTech students also e
- Yah to faculty members are very good as per as the strength is concerned the strength is also good and the faculty have immense expertise in the different domains of different fields of Physics and the teaching method is also impressive
- Infrastructure is very very good the campus providers the basic ameenities like AC is there in the classroom different friends are there in the classroom the projectors and all everything is there in the classroom
Dislikes
- There is nothing which I dislike here was everything is very good here you will find everything here you will find good friends good people good surrounding good environment study environment
Placement Experience:
From the next year onwards that is from the third semester we will become eligible for the campus placement and the campus placement is all about the teaching and the technique jobs here for master students. Many Edtech companies visit here offering a good package like 10 to 12 lakh and average packages 4 to 5 lakhs
But for b.tech student the highest package is almost 1.5 to 2 crores and this year almost 9 student have placed in apple and almost 9 student have placed in Microsoft also some of the student got intensive from the Apple India with 1.5 lakh stipend per month

- The thing I liked the most about NIT Durgapur is it's management, the management is very strict with first year student but it's for our own good . College is strictly against ragging and it's really efficient too.
- The girls to boys ratio is quite good , like in our computer science batch theres a total of 187 students in which 36 girls and rests are boys which is nearly 1:4 good for a NIT. Also girls here are very friendly 😉.
- There's a committee for everything in our college formed by students. So whatever the problem is it will always be formed in a matter of time,we just have to make a complaint about it on whatsapp group and everything that's bothering u will be fixed
Dislikes
- The most disliked thing by me here is the politics, yes there is politics divided into zones from different States students of India. Here's a student body called Gymkhana which conducts this election which every year cause a real chaos afaik.
- Here exist a culture called zone in or zone out , if u choose to zone in you'll get ragged but along with that you'll get help from alumnis and seniors and even in club entries but if u choose to zone out noone will ever touch u
- Well the mess food quality is quite good but the veg people will have to suffer a bit coz even tho the quality is good but the menu is a lil repetitive which u might not like over time.
Placement Experience:
From 6th or 7th semester students become eligible for campus placement, in 3.5 yr of college in BTECH, u will get opportunities for internships and will eventually start earning. This year in the latest batch 8 students got opportunity in Apple India internship and in placement offers Microsoft took 7 students from 2025 batch with a package of 51 LPA.
Total no. Of companies visited we're 187 last year with 725 offers. Highest package of CSE as of last year was 81 LPA by Atlantasia and average was 16 LPA due to the recession year but in 2023 it was 21.45 LPA and highest was 70 LPA in mechanical branch. Percentage of students getting placed in 2023 was 86% in CSE and in 2024 it was 69% again due to the recession.
My plans after getting the degree is to pursue higher education and not just placement well that depends how my academic will be so maintaining a good CGPA is crucial for me.

- Professors are kind and good and are friendly with students except some.
- Good campus although not so big but enough for everything

- I didn't like the food quality although it's good but not hygiene
- The timetable is too much messy ...we don't get enough time

Placements are too good not only for cs and tech branches but also for different branch too. Last year from mechanical it's was the highest of all time around 72 lakhs perannum.. which is a good thing and also the average of biotechnology is around 9 lpa

- NIT Durgapur campus area is big. It's located on a campus of 187 acres.
- NIT Durgapur's NIRF ranking of 2024 is 44th in the Engineering categories.
- NIT Durgapur's professor are very good and helpful.
Dislikes
- 1st year's restrictions 1) Not allow in any feast in late night 2) don't allow out of campus without family.
- The academic pressure of NIT Durgapur is too much
Course Curriculum Overview:
I have taken mechanical engineering from NIT DURGAPUR. And now I am in my 2nd year. Now I feel that I made a mistake while taking mechanical engineering. This branch is so difficult.
But by taking mechanical engineering branch, I got to know how to enjoy life even under so much pressure.
Every exam in NIT Durgapur there is time for exam, 1 hour for mid semester exam and 3 hours for end semester exam.

- I like the opportunities which i get from the college like placements etc.,good infrastructure and supportive administration.
- The campus of our college is very beautiful. It contains 2 playground's ,One pond and many places also.
- Our college also provide us the opportunities to show our sports skill in competition like Inter Nit's and Inter hall tournament.
Dislikes
- I don't like the attendance criteria of the college.You have to attend 75% classes of each subject ,after then your marks will not be deducted from exams.if your attendance is less than 75% ,your marks will be deducted.
Placement Experience:
Placements of our college is very good. In 2024, more than 70% percent students are placed in my college. Many good companies come in my college like Apple , Amazon , Flipkart and many more. Almost every branch has a placement percentage of 75% . Some students not sit for placement and opt for higher studies . Highest package is almost 60 lakhs
and minimum is 3.5(tcs ninja) . My plans after the degree is to do job. I can also prepare for cat exams in the Future. But that is the second priority of mine.

- In nit durgapur is class facilities are best as there is new block constructed for academic.
- Here auditorium is well established and have the space for around 1500 people.
- Some faculties are best and they help the student but some are very worst as every college.
Dislikes
- Hostel building are very old as this is one of the oldest nit.
- Campus are not as big as all the student expect to be.

Here is a detailed review shared by my brother who completed his graduation from NIT Durgapur
- Infrastructure: Honestly, the infrastructure isn’t all that great but will provide all the basic amenities necessary for a good academic environment.
- Faculty: Most students have to resort to self-study because the professors are not very passionate about teaching. However, if you do good projects under a professor, you may be able to pursue a master's in a foreign university.
- Placements: NIT Durgapur has recorded excellent placements. This year the highest CTC offered was INR 70 LPA while the average salary offered was INR 13.64 LPA. The top recruiters included TCS Ninja, PwC, ICICI Bank, Microsoft, and many others. More than 100 recruiters participated in the placement drive and 633 students were placed.
- Opportunities: The NIT tag will open a number of opportunities for you and the alumni network is also quite extensive. You can also avail opportunities like workshops and clubs.
- Campus life: The campus life is very active with many fun-filled events like the freshers' farewell party and celebration of regional festivals. Additionally, a number of cultural and technical fests are also held.
- Administration : The administration is very slow and is not cooperative. You might face some issues.
- Location : NIT Durgapur faces no major connectivity issues. The railway station is 30 mins or 14 km away while the nearest airport is at Andal, which isn't well connected, so Kolkata Airport will be a better option. You can find the Auto rickshaw stand just at the main gate.
Overall, NIT Durgapur is a great place if you are unable to make it to IITs.
