Which is better, IIIT, Allahabad for ECE or NIT Durgapur for ECE if I have a general 12k rank in the JEE Mains?

Before deciding on any institute you should analyze it based on different parameters. Check if the college provides good facilities like hostels equipped with a good and stable internet connection, good food, satisfactory infrastructure, and the most important, a good campus placement drive. Both IIIT Allahabad and NIT Durgapur offer above-average facilities. Here is a brief outline of the institute. Total Fee for Full Course (UG, B.Tech) For B.Tech (4-year) course, total fees (all semesters) are ? ? 6.48 lakhs for most engineering specialisations. In 2024-25, this full course fee was less (? ? 6.02 lakhs) for B.Tech, so there is an increase. --- Changes / Increases The total B.Tech fees have increased from ? ? 6.02 lakhs in 2024-25 to ? ? 6.48 lakhs in 2025-26. Semester tuition for B.Tech/UG remains ? 62,500, but other semester/first semester ancillary/one-time fees (admission, caution money etc.) also make first semester significantly higher.

Everything about NIT durgapur

I disliked the length of semester duration. Odd semesters are short.

For the semester fees it is 62,500 per semester. But students whose annual income is below 1 lakh it is zero. For the students who have annual income between 1-5 lakhs , two thirds of the fee is waivered (they have to pay 20,834 approximately). For above 5 lakhs , there is no waiver. For the students of SC and ST categories it is zero.

Yearly the respective college students must pay rupees one lakh only which includes tution fees, caution fees, registration fees, admission fees, development fees, lab fees and other compulsory charges during the course completion. On other hand the students belonging to reservation category which includes st, sc, pwd students need to pay 56000 only per year involving all the changes required.

Industrial/Practical learning is low and semesters can feel too fast

Fees for first year is around Rs.145000 and from 2nd year onwards it'll be somewhat around Rs.130000. There are consessions for SC/ST/PwD and EWS. The fees would be around 30000 annually plus hostel/mess charges. Fees is taken semester wise. SVMCM (for WB students) along with Oasis, Pragati etc. are some of the schlorships I know. They provide upto Rs.60000 annually for Btech students

The course and the faculty of our department were excellent.

I belong to general category.So I had to pay about 76k to 77k each semester.Other categories had a reduced amount of fee . There were no other type of fees to be paid to the college except hostel fees of around 15-20k per semester and caution fees(institute caution fee-5k & hostel caution fee-5k).

Beautiful chapter of everyone's life - college life

In Nit Durgapur college we have to pay semester fee. In a year we have 2 semesters. The semester fee varies for each semester. But the fee range is same. According to caste, the fee structure varies. I am an SC student, and my semester fee is like 13,500 ; 11,500 and so on (in this range, but in an increasing manner) We have scholarships like for an year probably 40000. My father is a government teacher so I am not eligible for scholarships. Scholarships are for the family whose annual income is less than 200000.
