Additionally, the institution recognizes the importance of supporting students financially and offers various avenues for scholarships, financial assistance, and campus employment opportunities.
Faculties are highly experienced with great knowledge and some of them have good teaching and mentorship style.
The classes are also very nice, the library is beautiful, well organized and peaceful.

Dislikes

We get information about scholarships, they are not interested in giving scholarships to poor students like us.
I disliked the lack of facilities in college sports, or music room facilities gym and all and mess is also not good
There is one almirah and one table and one bed provided in the hostel but the mess is really not good which was a problem in every college.

NIT DURGAPUR AT A GLANCE

Likes

The campus is beautiful as well as well maintained
Library facilities is quite good and well maintained
The faculties are very qualified and good at teaching.

Dislikes

Some professors are very rude and they don't listen.
Adminstration is poor. There is a chance of improvement
Facilities and infrastructure of hostel and departments are need to be improved

Placement Experience:

From 7th sem onwards students are eligible for campus placement and for internship 5th sem onwards students are eligible for internships. The companies like TI Flipkart Microsoft Nvidia Samsung PWC they came and take 5-10 students. Percentage of placement was around 84-85% last year. My plans after getting the degree is to get a high profile job at semiconductor company.

NIT DURGAPUR CSE REVIEW

Likes

The campus is great and awesome scenic beauty.
The peers are the best part about this college. I get to engage with lots of brilliant minds of this country.
The curriculum is pretty rigorous and challenging hence enjoyable.

Dislikes

The mess food is pretty average to bad .
The authority is not that supportive, this year only our fest ,Recstacy , got cancelled.
Some of the rooms have only 1 fan hence it is really hot in the summer.

Placement Experience:

We become eligible for campus placements from 7th semester onwards. But in case of internships we become eligible from 5th semester. The placements have been hampered because of recession but still many companies visited our campus for campus placements for the session 2023-24 such as Microsoft,Wells Fargo, Accenture ,Reliance,TCS and so on. Around 540 students are placed till now. With the highest on campus package being around 50lpa. After getting my degree my plan is to work in my dream company, as such I have no intention of pursuing higher studies.

Good academic environment. The curriculum ensures quality education amongst the students be it in engineering disciplines or core domains like Maths, Physics, Humanity etc.
Peer culture among students is extremely good. Be it coding culture or GATE culture, the competition amongst peers is highly stiff and this peer competition yields better student output.
Good alumni network. We have SAI cell which helps to keep alma maters connected with the students who can guide the students for the betterment of their future careers.

Dislikes

Sometimes some professors are strict. Many professors teach well but some of them are just too rigid and not student friendly.
Extracurricular activities are also preached in the college but the clubs which recruit these students, do partiality with some of the students, debarring them from performing the same. Club auditions can be partially harsh for some students.

Placement Experience:

For On Campus Internships, a handful of companies come in the 4th-5th sem break. Companies start to come for internships from 5th semester onwards. Upto 6th semester, companies come for internships and there is an opportunity for the intern students to get a PPO. Apart from that, from 7th semester onwards primarily, on campus placements start and different companies and recruiters reach to the CDC and hire students.

HONEST COLLEGE REVIEW (NIT DGP)

Likes

Academic curriculum are IIT level, professors are highly qualified and peaceful life at campus
Canteen and food facilities outside mess is good and affordable rates
Greenery of campus and peaceful working and studying environment

Dislikes

Mess management is poor as quality and quantity of food is highly compromised
Hostel rooms are small and not spacy and airy enough to accommodate 3 per room
poor maintenance of building infrastrucuture such as wate coolers, fans,lights etc.

Placement Experience:

Placements start from 7th semester onwards. Software domain placewments are very nice in NIT DGP. Companies such as MS,Adobe,Accenture,Wells Fargo,JPMC,Texas Instruments and many more hire candidates. Total offers made last academic year was 578. Core placements are good as well in Electronics(my department).Companies such as Intel,Nvidia,Qualcomm, Samsung(RnD) hire students from circuital branches. I am solely focussed on campus placements in software developmment role ,offering a decent package.

Is nit Durgapur a good choice?

Campus is spread around 200 acres and it's green campus.new hostels are good in infrastructure with all facilities leaving ac room
New academic building is good classroom are fully air conditioned and with smart class facilities also there is canteen in it labs are quite good.

Dislikes

Campus is very old around 60 year so the main acadmic building and all the hostel leaving new ones are in bad condition mess food is not good
Placement of core branches is very less and internship opportunities are also very less students have to apply off campus interships
Campus life is ok but not so good . Rules can change anytime sometimes fest will not held

Placement Experience:

From 7 th semester company start visiting.tip company are JP Morgan Microsoft ICICI Bank reliance and many other highest package of this area is 70 lakh whereas Lowest 3 lakh . placement percent is different for all branches

Likes

The classes they're very spacious, it's gallery and it has air conditioning, pretty good.
I like the infrastructure, you feel like it's small but it is actually very spaciouos.
The environment, it's very green out in here, and it's soothing at times. It rains often and the feeling is just mindblowing.

Dislikes

Well, when it's summer it's too hot, and we can't bring in electronics like cooler or anything from outside to the hostel
The hostel management. Last year, the wardens were very linient with the first years unlike now.

Course Curriculum Overview:

I pretty much like everything here, now that I'm used to being a part of this college. The subjects cover most of the basics that we require as our foundation. So it's pretty good for now. Although in the beginning I struggled a little, I was able to cope up with not much difficulties.

I like the ragging free campus of this institute.
The alcohol free campus is great for students.
1st year students are not allowed to get out after 8pm as preventive measure against ragging.

Dislikes

Hall 1, Hall 2, Hall 3 are not maintained properly.
In 1st semester we could not stay out of hostel after 6pm.
The campus is not smoking free as claimed.

Placement Experience:

Students are eligible for campus placements after passing 7th semester. Companies like Microsoft, Amazon, JPMC, L&T, Accenture, Adobe grant offers for students. Around 80% students get placed from campus. The highest package of 2023 was 58LPA. I am seeking for a job in Google or ISRO after getting my degree.

Campus Life and the entire atmosphere inside the campus.
The club culture: the way the clubs enhance the inclusivity among the students.
The department and tge professors. It is really fun to interact and learn from them.

Dislikes

The mess food. Well at times it becomes too boring bland and monotonous to eat

Placement Experience:

Students are eligible for internship opportunities from 4th sem itself and can sit for the placement interviews from 7th sem. The highest package received last year was 70lpa, and about 80-83% students gettinf placed. The reamining students mainly opt for higher studies.

My College Experience in First Year

Likes

Availablity of good transportation and communication system in and out of campus.
Shopping complex available in close proximity, suited for both rich and poor students.
Good and healthy environment for academics, no ragging.

Dislikes

Not much scope for other sports activities for now.
Teaching methods of some teachers are very traditional despite of availablity of good infrastructure and equipments.
Marking scheme and examinations conducted here are very tough to crack good marks.

Course Curriculum Overview:

Electronics engineering is one of the top branch in NIT Durgapur. I always have passion for electrical and electronics equipment, apart from flexible curriculum paving way to enhance other domains. NIT Durgapur has well equipped laboratory and specialised separate building for ECE department. In first year itself, one can understand the variation of curriculum of each department, were ECE is a good start. Teaching Methods are flexible for teachers, for which they can opt for hybrid(classic blackboard and digital classroom), but some teachers don't use that.

I had liked many things in my college first of all of my friends which I had made is so good.
College campus is just awesome. We enjoyed aot in my life her.
Infrastructure is so old so it is also good.

Placement Experience:

Placement are good in my campus . All departments have different percentage of campus placement and after merging all over the department then also placement is good . As most of the students get placement so we cannot say that they didn't get placed or something else.

Here is a detailed review shared by my brother who completed his graduation from NIT Durgapur

Infrastructure: Honestly, the infrastructure isn’t all that great but will provide all the basic amenities necessary for a good academic environment.
Faculty: Most students have to resort to self-study because the professors are not very passionate about teaching. However, if you do good projects under a professor, you may be able to pursue a master's in a foreign university.
Placements: NIT Durgapur has recorded excellent placements. This year the highest CTC offered was INR 70 LPA while the average salary offered was INR 13.64 LPA. The top recruiters included TCS Ninja, PwC, ICICI Bank, Microsoft, and many others. More than 100 recruiters participated in the placement drive and 633 students were placed.
Opportunities: The NIT tag will open a number of opportunities for you and the alumni network is also quite extensive. You can also avail opportunities like workshops and clubs.
Campus life: The campus life is very active with many fun-filled events like the freshers' farewell party and celebration of regional festivals. Additionally, a number of cultural and technical fests are also held.
Administration : The administration is very slow and is not cooperative. You might face some issues.
Location : NIT Durgapur faces no major connectivity issues. The railway station is 30 mins or 14 km away while the nearest airport is at Andal, which isn't well connected, so Kolkata Airport will be a better option. You can find the Auto rickshaw stand just at the main gate.
