Additionally, the institution recognizes the importance of supporting students financially and offers various avenues for scholarships, financial assistance, and campus employment opportunities.
Faculties are highly experienced with great knowledge and some of them have good teaching and mentorship style.
The classes are also very nice, the library is beautiful, well organized and peaceful.

Dislikes

We get information about scholarships, they are not interested in giving scholarships to poor students like us.
I disliked the lack of facilities in college sports, or music room facilities gym and all and mess is also not good
There is one almirah and one table and one bed provided in the hostel but the mess is really not good which was a problem in every college.

Nit Durgapur - At a glance

Likes

Infrastructure is very good , The class rooms are very newly built the NAB.
Labs are very well maintained, all the equipments are there.
Connectivity to railway station and bus stand is very well.

Dislikes

Hostel are pretty descent put require maintainnance.
Medical unit is not that well equipped and require huge upgradation.
Not giving enough opportunities to interact with the seniors in first year.

Placement Experience:

We have good intership opportunities from 3 Rd year. The placements are well and the average packages offered are also good. But due to the recession every other college is affected so as nit dgp. The placements for this year has fallen by a fair margin.But the overall placement has been fair.

Honest Review of NIT Durgapur

Likes

Library has a very good infrastructure and also Internet facility there is quite good
Ece department labs are well equipped with equipments and infrastructure and facilities there is quite good.
Biotech department is quite good with well quipped laboratory.

Dislikes

Grounds here are small with less sports facilities.
Sports , gym and extracurricular facilities are very limited.
Hostel and mess condition is very bad and infrastructure is very old.

Placement Experience:

Placement in our college is very good as compared to other colleges. From 7th sem , students become eligible for placement. Companies such as Microsoft, samsung, Qualcomm, Texas instrument , etc visited our campus for on campus placement . Hisgest package is about 54 lpa and for ece branch average package is 15 lpa. Percentage of students placed is about 84 percent .

BTech Life at NIT Durgapur

Likes

We got placement and internship assistance from college
Teachers encouranged higher studies and research activities
Students from all over India studies together which creates an inclusive environment and teaches us to interact and make friends with people from different cultures and regions.

Dislikes

Mess food could be better but complain much as its the same in most hostels
Open elective selection (subjects from other departments) could be based on interest rather than marks.
Reducing marks in case of less attendance

Placement Experience:

Internship offers are available from the end of 2nd year (4th sem) and placement session opens at the end of 3rd year (6th sem). Many companies visited like Microsoft, JPMC, PWC, John Deere, Deloitte, etc. Recession took place for the 2024 batch so not much students could be placed this year. 70% of the ECE students were placed and the average package was around 15lpa. Highest package was 51lpa in our department by Microsoft for SDE role. I was one of the fortunate ones in our department to get placed in Microsoft and would be joining in the coming months.

NIT durgapur college life & experience.

Likes

I like the environment there. Students are really competitive there. Placement are really good. I even got placed into Deloitte USI as a tech analyst. It is really beautiful place.
There is a duck pond. Which has a lot of fishes in it. Girls and boys ho there for chilling and partying.
Ovals and lords are the 2 grounds over there . Students do a lot of exercise over there.

Dislikes

Their reservation criteria. Proffesors are not that good there.
Proffesors don't pay much attention to their students.
Hostels are really old over there. Mess food is awful.

The placements in NIT durgapur is good . I myself got placed in Deloitte USI as a tech analyst in mid of October. My package was 8.1 lpa . Students also get internship here very easily in Microsoft, Capgemini, Genpact.

Likes

Faculty is very much experienced, qualified and approachable too.
Placement is top notch.For CS,it,ece,ee, mechanical engineering courses opportunities are much more.
Be it the techno management fest or cultural fest everything is organised by college students only and they improve our organizing skills as well

Dislikes

Hostel mess food were not upto the mark and they also sometimes provide lower quality food
For branches like chemical,metallurgy and biotechnology, placement committee not putting enough efforts.

Course Curriculum Overview:

Course curriculum is similar to any other NITs, but our college with the new trend arising also started introducing subjects like Ai, ML to our curriculum.Not only that, here all students are trained properly to work on different softwares which make them industry ready.

NIT Durgapur is renowned for its academic excellence,especially in engineering and technology field
It has wel-equiped labs,libraries and sport complexes

Dislikes

The campus might feel overcrowded at times despite having modern facilities

Placement Experience:

Placements in NIT Durgapur is mindboggling. Lots of companies come in our campus and lots of students get multiple jobs with high packages. The highest package of each branch is a minimum of 30 lakhs per annum

The campus environment and availability of things
Hostel facility is very good and mess food is excellent
The study culture is awasome nd seniors are helpful

Dislikes

The management and restrictions for 1st year
The size of campus is very small and some labs are very hard
Some profs are very strict and didn't want to pass students for just 1 mardks

Placement Experience:

The placement rates are high with a very good package. A lot of national and international companies visit the campus for placement. The 8th and 10th semester students are eligible for placements and 80-90% students get placed

NIT Durgapur Review

Likes

Firstly, I like the campus of NIT Durgapur which covers over 187 of land. The location of the campus is quite good, main market and city centre of Durgapur is at walking distance and one can easily visit market anytime he/she wish.
There are very less restrictions in our campus, one will really enjoy his/her time here.
Professors are well qualified and are very helpful.

Dislikes

Hostel are not very good in terms of basic facilities like washroom and clean rooms.
Hostel Mess are average. You will not be satisfied with the food.

Placement Experience:

College Placement is good. Computer Science department have average package of 15 lakhs and it is somewhat same for ECE and EE department. Our College also provide good placement for Core branches and package is around 10 lakhs per annum.

The new academic block has good facilities and equipments, suitable for the students and teachers.
Library facilities are better for the reading environment and to study
The club events and hackathons that takes place in college are very much enjoyable and learning of very new things in them

Dislikes

The food given in the hostels are pretty much worse than the food we get outside. It needs to be improved.
Some teachers doesn't have to approach to teach easily to students. They don't make it understandable to us.

Placement Experience:

From 7th semester students are eligible for the campus placements during the summer holidays for the final everyone should perform a compulsory internship at a company or a vocational training with credits of 2. Many companies visit our college, the texus instruments , Microsoft, ICICI bank and many other well known companies visit for placement. The highest package will be around 60-70 lakh every year the values may change. Around 75-80% of the students in our branch will get placed. I plan to work in core mainly embedded systems after my degree

I liked the environment its peaceful and campus is not that big don't have to travel a long distance to get to classes

Dislikes

I disliked the lack of facilities in college sports, or music room facilities gym and all and mess is also not good

Placement offers are good 13.8 lpa avg package. But most of the tech companies selectively comes for cse, ece and ee branches and the opportunity fir kower branches are low so branch matters. 187 companies cames i guess or it may be 300 but you can apply off campus too if you like

Here is a detailed review shared by my brother who completed his graduation from NIT Durgapur

Infrastructure: Honestly, the infrastructure isn’t all that great but will provide all the basic amenities necessary for a good academic environment.
Faculty: Most students have to resort to self-study because the professors are not very passionate about teaching. However, if you do good projects under a professor, you may be able to pursue a master's in a foreign university.
Placements: NIT Durgapur has recorded excellent placements. This year the highest CTC offered was INR 70 LPA while the average salary offered was INR 13.64 LPA. The top recruiters included TCS Ninja, PwC, ICICI Bank, Microsoft, and many others. More than 100 recruiters participated in the placement drive and 633 students were placed.
Opportunities: The NIT tag will open a number of opportunities for you and the alumni network is also quite extensive. You can also avail opportunities like workshops and clubs.
Campus life: The campus life is very active with many fun-filled events like the freshers' farewell party and celebration of regional festivals. Additionally, a number of cultural and technical fests are also held.
Administration : The administration is very slow and is not cooperative. You might face some issues.
Location : NIT Durgapur faces no major connectivity issues. The railway station is 30 mins or 14 km away while the nearest airport is at Andal, which isn't well connected, so Kolkata Airport will be a better option. You can find the Auto rickshaw stand just at the main gate.
