Remarks
To wind up NIT Durgapur is a great place to be in and it feels great to be a part of such a prestigious institution.
Course Curriculum Overview
The course is quite relevant and the lab sessions are also interesting. It is definitely helpful in securing on campus placements. Industrial visits are scheduled but that may vary from time to time and department to department. The vision of our department is to set out responsible engineerings who are efficient in field work and not just bookworms.
Placement Experience
There are several companies that visit our college every years for placements and internships. Some of the popular tech giants among these are Microsoft, Goldman Sacs, JPMC, Amazon, Qualcomm etc. The placement ratio of our college is also quite high. The institution has a seperate cell for training students for these tasks.
College Events
We have one technical and one cultural fest namely Aarohan and Nityamini respectively. Also there are entrepreneurship, literature, heritage related smallers fests. People turn up in huge numbers for these events and enjoy a lot as they get to escape the draining college routine.
Fee Structure And Facilities
The avg. fee for a gen. student is approx. 70k per semester. For an OBC student this figure comes down to around 30k and for SC/ST this lowers down to around 7k. This amount is quite feasible when compared to other private colleges in the country. The modes of payment are through cash, cheque, DD and online payment. There is transparency in the fee breakdown.
Fees and Financial Aid
No I haven't opted for any scholarship or educational loan but there are several students who have.
Campus Life
The campus life is quite pleasant. The gender ratio is around 6 girls per 10 boys. There are numerous competitions, workshops and seminars held frequently covering debates, robotics etc. There are also a wide range of sports that I can opt from and if found good enough they are trained by profession coaches for national level tournaments.
Hostel Facilities
Yes I have opted for hostel. A single room is shared by 3 students (sometimes 4) for students from 1st year to 3rd year. However separate rooms are provided to every final year student. There aren't any PG's around.
Alumni/Alumna
The alumni network is very strong and supportive. They do share a lot of experience which is an essential factor of any student.
Admission
Getting into any NIT is through JEE Mains for students of our country. I opted for ECE because it's one of the subjects I am very comfortable with and also the faculty here is quite good and far better than faculties of other departments of our college.
Faculty
The average age group of professors in our college vary from as young as 25 years (PhD scholars) to as ripe as 60 years. All of them are highly qualified with have great expertise in their subject of interest. The avg no. of lectures per week is around 20.
