Remarks

Overall Nit Durgapur is a good college and placement is secured.

Course Curriculum Overview

All the engineering streams is a part of curriculum. Course standard is good which is same as IIT's. I took computer science engineering as my stream. Yes, curriculum was well groomed. I got the offer from Oracle india pvt ltd as an Application Engineer in my final year.

Placement Experience

4

Placement is good only. All the major MNCs visit our campus and hire a majority of students with 7+ Lpa package. Top 10% of student get job offers of more than 15+ lpas. I myself got the job offer of 7. 5 lpa in oracle.

College Events

4

There are many tech and cultural events organised quarterly. Aarohan is the major tech fest where many renowned singers come and perform. Sunidhi Chauhan, Mohit Chauhan, Toshi came in my final year. All the student showcase there talents and projects too.

Fee Structure And Facilities

It's feasible only. It's 50000 rs per semester. Mode of payment is online through college website. Yes, fee structure is transparent. It's fee is less compared to IIT's. Adding further 50000 rs is including the hostel fee and mess charges for each semester.

Fees and Financial Aid

No, I didn't opted for any scholarship. But one avail scholarship if he need. As I was from general category and my family income was more than 5 lakhs so I was not eligible for scholarship but if one is from obc/sc/st category with less family income then he/she is eligible for scholarship.

Campus Life

Normally in engineering colleges boys are more compared to girls. We have a ratio of 1:7 (girl: boy) ratio. Yes, Nit Durgapur have a vast number of extracurricular activities such as cricket, football, tennis, robotics etc. There are large number of inter college competitions too.

Hostel Facilities

Yes, govt hostels is average. You need to share room with 2 guys normally. In final year you will be alotted single room so that one can concentrate properly on studies because it is high time and for getting good job offers.

Alumni/Alumna

Alumni of Nit Durgapur is working in very big MNC'S such as Amazon, Oracle, Microsoft, Goldman Sachs, Visa, Google Etc. Some have also cleared prestigious UPSC exam and are posted in big govt positions like collector, magistrate.

Admission

I get into prestigious Nit Durgapur through AIEEE Entrance Exam for which around 13 lakhs students give exam every year out of which few thousands get into Nit's. It's rank comes under top 50 engineering colleges in India so I choose to take admission in this college.

Faculty

3

Government faculty is average. Its not that good or bad. Students normally need to study there self in govt colleges which is a well known fact. Most of the faculties have done phd's with age group of 35-60 years. Normally there is each day 1 hour lecture for 1 subject and one need to secure atleast 75% attendance else he/she is not allowed to sit in the exams.

The campus placements happen in final year of the course. There is a well established placement cell to conduct the on-campus placements. Many well renowned companies visit our college namely Microsoft, Google, TI, TSL, PWC, ICICI, ABG. L&T, etc. The highest package was 50LPA and the average was around 9LPA. Over 90% students got placed from across every department and details of the placement is also available in the college official website. I have gotten a job from the on-campus drive to a core company.

Placement Experience:

The placements of our college are below average. Studies for placement are more or less relevant from second semester. companies like tcs, amazon etc do visit our campus however very few are selected with package above 4-5 LPA. Most of the students seek out for higher studies and that's my plan too.

Course Curriculum Overview:

It's my decision from class 12 that I will do civil engineering, so I chose the civil branch, the course curriculum is well and the teaching level is good but the main problem is lab, there is very limited classes for lab, so I think they should improve there.

After the 6th semester, the students are eligible for placements. Mass recruiters like TCS, Wipro, Infosys, Accenture, Capgemini, etc visit every year and pick up 80-100 students per company. Other companies like Amazon, Thoughtworks, Etc also visit the college. The highest package offered by our college is 15LPA by Thoughtworks. Every year around 75-80% of students get placed on campus. I plan to get a good job work for 2-3 years and then apply for Masters. Overall the placement is very nice in this college.
