Remarks

As per JEE Rank, this was the best college which I would have got. I got chances in state govt colleges but opted out after first round of counselling since I got into NIT Durgapur. As ranking of NIT Durgapur was better than these state govt colleges, I decided to join NIT Durgapur, a college of national importance.

Course Curriculum Overview

Course is a bit outdated. Innovations and new discoveries should be included in the curriculum. Faculties are very knowledgeable. Academic wise, the semester planning is good. Hands on training approach should be adopted.

Class Size: 145

Internships Opportunities

I did my internship in Bharat Petroleum Corporation Limited, for a period of 2 months as a part of the sales team. Since it was a PSU, I was not offered any stipend. One can mail the HR and ask about internship opportunities available.

Placement Experience

Good. In mechanical engineering department approx 105/135 (eligible for placement) were placed. Varieties of company ranging from consulting to manufacturing to automobiles to PSUs. Approx 40+ companies participate in the placement drive.

College Events

2 Technical fests : Aarohan and Avishkar. 1 Cultural fest : Recstacy (Now Nityamini). Students from all over India are invited to participate in these events. Cash prizes are given to the winners. The fests take place over a period of 2-3 days with multiple events on each day.

Fees and Financial Aid

I did not avail any scholarship/loan facility. I don't know why I'm still expected to write 200 characters even if I have no answer for this. I am just writing this part so that I can submit the form. Kindly ignore this part. This part is not necessary for understanding about the college facilities.

Campus Life

Size of the library is good enough. Core department labs have outdated machinery which are not always used in manufacturing. New machineries and equipments should be used. Hostel rooms need maintenance. Rooms are provided with lan cables.

Hostel Facilities

1st year students were provided a new hostel (Hall 11) 4 students/room. Common bathrooms. Wifi available. 2nd-3rd year hostels were old. These rooms need maintenance. 4 students/room. Common bathrooms. Lan cable for everyone. In final year, everyone gets a separate room. Lan connection available. Common bathrooms.

Hostel Fee: INR 50000 per year

I don't have idea about the placements since I'm in first year now. But I talked to a senior and got to know that many got multiple offers in 4th year. I also head that packages are around 4 lpa which is a decent and also a rise than the previous year.

The summary of my four years in one of the oldest colleges in India

Placement Experience:

The campus placements happen in final year of the course. There is a well established placement cell to conduct the on-campus placements. Many well renowned companies visit our college namely Microsoft, Google, TI, TSL, PWC, ICICI, ABG. L&T, etc. The highest package was 50LPA and the average was around 9LPA. Over 90% students got placed from across every department and details of the placement is also available in the college official website. I have gotten a job from the on-campus drive to a core company.

1. Students generally get eligible for campus placements from the 3rd semester of the M.Sc. course. 2. Deperments like Biotechnology,Botany,Zoology have placement support. 3. Companies coming to campus like TCS,Wipro,Deloitte,Biocon,Pfizer. 4. Deperments with strong placement cells secure 10-15 offers per company, depending on batch size. 5. 8-10LPA Highest package offered by Leading companies and 4-5LPA Average package offered by companies. 6. 60-80% of students getting placements. i am interested in Ph.D. programs for research positions.

Placement Experience:

The placements of our college are below average. Studies for placement are more or less relevant from second semester. companies like tcs, amazon etc do visit our campus however very few are selected with package above 4-5 LPA. Most of the students seek out for higher studies and that's my plan too.

Placement Experience:

After the 6th semester, the students are eligible for placements. Mass recruiters like TCS, Wipro, Infosys, Accenture, Capgemini, etc visit every year and pick up 80-100 students per company. Other companies like Amazon, Thoughtworks, Etc also visit the college. The highest package offered by our college is 15LPA by Thoughtworks. Every year around 75-80% of students get placed on campus. I plan to get a good job work for 2-3 years and then apply for Masters. Overall the placement is very nice in this college.

I applied for multiple NITs During Josaa Counselling but my top 5 suitable choice according to my home location and considering other limiting factors was NIT Rourkela, NIT Silchar, NIT Durgapur, NIT Patna and IIEST Shibpur. Apart from these, I have also Applied for Calcutta University and Jadavpur University. I have got approval from NIT DGP,Calcutta University and Jadavpur University. But I have chosen NIT because of better Placement records and better campus Life. Moreover it's an Institution of of National Importance and Hold a good NIRF rank. So I preferred this choice above others. I wasn't rejected from the above colleges, but simply i didn't get the eligible rank for them. And the 3 which I got, i choosed the best among them. The Admission process of NIT DGP was through Josaa and CSAB counselling. The College and the Branch will be alloted to you according to your rank in the JEE MAINS Examination. The Closing rank of this exam in 2025 of General Category for the lowest Branch in BTech is 63387. The overall admission process for the college, apart from hostel allotment, was completely online. 14-15 documents were to be submitted in pdf format in the specific website provided. I was getting all nits of india and also some iits.The only reasons of not choosing them is branch ,i was getting lower branches in all other colleges so i choose this. I think this was the best college onmy rank. NIT Durgapur:-A wholesome Insight in the college life and it's different aspects

I applied to IIEST Shibpur and was getting ECE there but I chose this college because of its brand name, infrastructure and placement which are all way above shibpur. No I did not get any rejection form college I applied for.
