Remarks

To be frank i had only single option in NITs, and I wanted to get into an NIT irrespective of Branch. And that to i didn't get any NIT in Josaa councelling, so got it in Csab. Also, being one of the oldest NITs, many of my family members suggested this college over IIITs. Moreover, for Metallurgy Branch, among other NITs this was the best so I selected this college. So when I got this in Csab first round, I waited for second round and the course alloted to me didn't change so I took the admission with all certificates, jee rank card, allotment letter, etc on 5th august, 2019.

Course Curriculum Overview

4

I feel the course curriculum of any branch is outdated. I feel the curriculum doesn't change instantaneously in govt. colleges. Moreover, the laboratories also include thosevold boring concepts. For example in my branch Metallurgy. They focus more on iron making, steel making and less on materials part. They are reluctant on including new things like semiconductor extraction and manufacturing. Battery production. Faculty is okay in average. Due to old curriculum no. of placement oppurtunities also becomes narrow.

Internships Opportunities

2.5

No, i have applied for internship but it's still in process. In my branch Tata Metaliks is the only company which provides internship.Other companies like Microsoft,Pwc,Goldman Sachs,JPMorgan Chase, etc companies give internships with stipends of 40k and above. Most of them are project based like the company gives a problem statement and they give the access to R&D facility to complete our idea to solve the problem and submit a final report of the project.

Placement Experience

3

To be honest the core sector placement for my engineering course is below average. So most of my batchmates apply for analytics companies or software companies. From 7th semester students become eligible for placements.companies like Amazon,Microsoft,Deloitte,Pwc,JPMorgan,Treadance,Tata Metaliks,ZS,etc comes. The highest package is 44 lpa and avg. package is 10 lpa .Most of the students are placed. If not some prepare for GATE and do higher studies. Some plan for Msc. in foreign countries.I am interested to crack GATE and get into a good PSU.Total jobs offered for the year 2020 is 506 with a placement percentage of 71.92%.

College Events

4

Well annual tech fest called Aarohan is organized in the month of February. There are wide variety of clubs technical, non-technical, coding clubs, robotics, cultural, etc. To name some clubs they are SAE, DebSoc, Glug, Recursion, Spic Macay, etc. SAE publishes annual technical magazine called AUTOPIA. NDORS a sub-wing of SAE makes a racing buggy from scratch. Every club has its own budget provided by college according to their various activities conducted by the club all year long. Every club conducts its own auditions consisting of various rounds like technical test, gd, project round, PI, etc. Being one of the oldest NITs the maximum building are atleast 30 yrs old. But new modern tall infrastructure like hostels, academic buildings, etc have been built in past 10 yrs.The new buildings are obviously more spacious than the older ones.Located in the middle of city,it provides easy access to malls, restaurants, etc. There is a dedicated complex for sports activities including various grounds, gym, coaches, etc.Laboratory equipments are of top-notch quality. There is a library with good amount of books and superfast wi-fi(i only visited library for this).Apart from this the swayam-seva online library facility is always there.I always preferred using online stuff for studying.BMEP is a unique social group which educates economically and socially deprived children.

Fees and Financial Aid

Fee structure is same for all the branches. But there are different fees based on reservation quota and also based on income for general category. The fees is same for SC, ST and GEN/OBC/EWS (income group less than 1 lpa) i.e Rs 5350-14350, the fee for OBC/EWS/GEN (Income group less than 5 lpa and more than 1 lpa) i.e. 14350-27684 and the fee being highest for GEN/EWS/OBC (income group more than 5 lpa) i.e. 14350-69350 based on course (BTech.,MTech,Msc). But one good thing is you are given enough payment window and your grievances are heard especially during the pandemic.

Campus Life

4.5

There is a dedicated complex for sports activities called SAC including various grounds, gym, coaches, etc. Laboratory equipments are of top-notch quality in the newer labs and some older labs are not maintained so good like electrical lab. There is a two storeyed library with good amount of books which I never studied and superfast wi-fi (I only visited library for this). Apart from this the swayam-seva online library facility is always there. I always preferred using online stuff for studying. There is an okay types medical facility with ambulances for any medical emergency.

Hostel Facilities

4.5

i have been in college during my first year. The hostel alloted to first yrs is the newest among all the boys hostel. That's hall 11.It has quite spacious comfortable enough for three to stay together.Well there is socket and bedlight holder, bed and one almirah for each hosteller in the room. The room is well ventilated. Two big windows in each room.Abundant sunlight.Common bathroom are provide ,but hygiene is maintained. One person for each floor is alloted for only cleaning purpose. The entire hostel is wi-fi enabled.Registration is simple doesn't take any time and alloted based on first come first serve basis. They write your name and allot the available room serially from 101 to 624.The best thing is it has 4 badminton courts, one basketball and one volleyball court around it.There's a lot of free space around hostel so you can always make space for cricket. Each floor has a common room which has a tv with all channels. The price is minimal when compared with the facilities.Meals is okay. You need to pay for each meal as per the price. The menu is followed strictly so you can be choosy with your meals.Menu is well balanced include both veg and non veg.Snacks are always provided in the evening.

Admission

Well JEE Mains is the only way to get into my college. But there is special counselling process for residents of Andaman and Nicobar and seats are reserved for the same along with OBC,SC,ST

The campus placements happen in final year of the course. There is a well established placement cell to conduct the on-campus placements. Many well renowned companies visit our college namely Microsoft, Google, TI, TSL, PWC, ICICI, ABG. L&T, etc. The highest package was 50LPA and the average was around 9LPA. Over 90% students got placed from across every department and details of the placement is also available in the college official website. I have gotten a job from the on-campus drive to a core company.

The placements of our college are below average. Studies for placement are more or less relevant from second semester. companies like tcs, amazon etc do visit our campus however very few are selected with package above 4-5 LPA. Most of the students seek out for higher studies and that's my plan too.

Other companies like Amazon, Thoughtworks, Etc also visit the college. The highest package offered by our college is 15LPA by Thoughtworks. Every year around 75-80% of students get placed on campus.
