Remarks
Firstly it is an NIT , which means an 'Institute with National Importance'. It was my dream to get into one of the prestegious institutions like this. Besides, this is the best college allotted to me in the counselling considering the rank.Secondly the experience of the institution that it was established in the year 1960, so a well established institute will definetly provide good oppurtunities for the placements and developing technical knowledge.
Course Curriculum Overview
The course curriculum for my branch -Mechanical Engineering was well designed which includes all the basics which are crucial for the Mechanical Graduate, and will be timely updated according to the changing situations. In addition to that the department electives and their syllabus are also provided and timely updated according to the latest industrial developments. Faculties are good and can be easily reached out. Two exams will be held spanning the semester as MID semester and END semester and the professors will continuously assess the students with timely assignments and classroom interaction. The exams will be on the sligltly tougher side.
Placement Experience
Students are eligible for the placements from the 7th semester and companies start visiting the campus from the 5th semester for internships offers, some major companies visit campus include TCS, Infosys, Amazon, Capgemini, TATA Metalliks , PWC, JPMc, Goldman Sachs,, the packages they offer are also good , the placement percentage for the whole year all the departments collectively will vary from 70 to 80% .the average package might be around 8 lakhs. besides the placements many students also attempt the GATE examination for higher studies in IITs and NITs and secure good results.
College Events
The campus life at NIT Durgapur is will definetly reach the expectations of the students , it is joyful and healthy atmosphere. There are so many Student activities going on in the campusand any interested student can take part in it. There are two grounds in the campus OVALS and LORDS. The Ovals ground will be busy all time with students playing and performing student activities. sports facilities are good. Number of Fests are conducted by in the college and one of them , the biggest one AAROHAN -the techno management fest of NIT Durgapur. The library was renovated with new infrastructure - with study rooms, Library is filled with ample amount of books and students can easily access them. Besides these there are so many student clubs spanning -Technical , Cultural , Social clubs which are dedicated , work year long to make the students engaged with events and activities.
Fees and Financial Aid
The tuition fee per semester will vary according the category of the students which they belong to according to their family income. the categories are like belowfamily annual income above 5 lakh - 67000 family annual income between 1 lakh and 5 lakhs - 37000family annual income below 1 lakh -10900the above tution fee details are an approximate,, they can be varied
Campus Life
The infrastructure of NIT Durgapur is well established for each department the labs the practical equipment are well available to students. The library is geared up with high speed internet wifi so that many students can connect at the same time. The library is a 2 storied building which contain ample space for study room for stuents.
Hostel Facilities
The hostel facilities are good, well maintained and timely cleaned, the mess food was an average rating but it is ok. Students should pay the hostel fees separately. The menu of the daily food will be changed for a week and will be repeated in the alternate weeks.
Admission
The admission criteria for NIT Durgapur is the rank obtained by students in the Entrance Exam 'JEE MAINS' which is followed by the JOSAA counselling where the students should fill their choices of colleges and Streams they are interested in. If seat is allotted in NIT Durgapur in non covid situation there will be a physical verification of the documents of students and the verification process was smooth.
