Remarks
NIT Durgapur is well known college, with good reputation all over India. It's campus faculties and Infrastructure is quite appealing. It has also good placements records. Reviews from the website like collegedunia, career 360 were quite positive. for admission we needed to fill JOSSA application form then waited for our name to be displayed in the merit list. Admission process was quite simple and it was fully online.
Course Curriculum Overview
I choose this course. Because I was allotted this as per my rank. And when I googled I found it quite interesting. Faculty over here are very friendly and helping. they made this complicated subject so easier. Every professor here is well educated most of them has completed their PHD from a renowned university or college. If we talk about examinations, despite of this online mode, everything went very smooth. we had our exams on time. classes were also timely conducted. This online mode was difficult to handle but the faculties managed it quite easily.
Placement Experience
in our college placements for non core branches is quite well but for core branches it is just fine. being in a core branch we need to push ourselves so hard to get good placement or internship in product based it companies while in other hand core placements in non it companies are quite well for e.g. in metallurgy branch tata offers a good package and there so many other companies as well. we can apply for reputated internships from 5th semester while for placements one can go from 6th semester.
College Events
we don't know much about campus life as we didn't get any chance to visit the campus. but we had some online events and know about our cultural fests from what we heard from our seniors. rectesy is the annual fest, aarohan is technical fest, there is youth fest like verve, entrepreneurship fest like esummit and many more. In our college there are so many societies and clubs which are run by student bodies which organizes various events and fest. these clubs help the students in exploring the hidden talent among them, we got to experience so many new things. there is also an NGO where we volunteer to teach orphan nd under privileged students and children. if we talk about library then our library is so vast it has good collection of books even when things are online we have access to its virtual version where so many eBooks are available for our ease.
Fees and Financial Aid
fee structure depends upon the caste and family income of the student. for the students having annual family income lower than 1 lakh nor they belong to SC ST category in that case they will full fee waiver on tuition fees. If students' annual family income is between 1lakh to 5 lakhs then there is one third fee waiver on their tuition fees. for the students having annual family income more than 5 lakh have to pay full tuition fees. Since our college has it's own status and reputation, education loans are easily passed. And for such facilities there is a SBI branch in our campus as well. and in our college there is a lot of opportunities for internships even for the first year students. students having good skills can easily get good stipend.
Campus Life
As I earlier stated we haven't visited the college yet. So no idea at all. But as we have heard from our seniors and saw some glimpses during online lectures. We can tell that Our college has good infrastructure, well equipped labs and maintained libraries. our campus is very large we have two stadiums, we get to perform so many curricular activities like basketball, yoga, self defense skills and many more.
Admission
No, there wasn't any group discussion or interview but we had a MCQ online based examination. it was JEE Mains which score is considered while taking admission in this college. Admission process was very simple, firstly we need to qualify the required cut off the college from JEE mains score. then we can apply and admission process is fully online which is safe as well easier. for jee mains the eligibility criteria is 12th pass out or appearing in 12th. we prepare for these examinations by solving recommended books and revising using previous year question banks.
