Remarks
Nit dgp is an institute of national importance. Good faculty, lab facilities. I cleared jee mains to get into this college in the year 2019. Good placement facilities. Good NIRF rank of 26.During my counselling process I went through websites like quora, collegedunia, career360 to know about the reviews, facilities, placemenets and cut offs of this college. There after I chose this college. The old hostels are not so good here.
Course Curriculum Overview
Mechanical engineering is a core branch. I always wanted to do a job in a core sector. And Mechanical engineering has a massive scope in the job sectors. The faculty here are highly qualified. This is the largest and the oldest branch in our college. Professors are student friendly and very helpful. Almost 170 students are in this department. Proper number of faculty is associated with each subject. Almost 2 to 3 Professors for each subject. Exams are taken regularly. 3 in each semester. Exams are of easy to medium standard. Most of the questions come from waht has been taught in the class.
Internships Opportunities
Large number of companies come to provide paid online trainings. But very few companies come for each department to take students for industrial internships. The number is nearly 10%.
Placement Experience
From 3rd year conpanies come to hire students for placements and internships. Very less companies come to take students for internships. But for job placements many companies visit our college including PSUs and dream companies. Highest package of almost 50 lpa is received by cse students. Companies like Microsoft, Amazon, Brahmos visit our college. For mechanical engineering large number of core companies, psu like iocl, hpcl and other automobile companies visit our college. Almost 70- 75% students get placed in mechanical engineering department. In cse almost 90% students get there placements.
College Events
Campus life is nice. Seniors are very helpful. No politics or unions are there. Very peaceful environment. No ragging. Aarohan is the annual trch fest in our college. There are a lot of technical and cultural club in our college. I am part of vortex club which participates in Ebaja every year. Sports and extra curricular activities are compulsory for all 1st year students. Gyms and sport equipments are available for all. Cateen facilities are nice. Classrooms are properly cleaned everyday. Large sized classrooms with smart board facilities are available. Large nu.ner of books and journals are available for all students.
Fees and Financial Aid
For me the course fee us massive. I think the government institutions specially the INIs should be free for all students. For mechanical engineering students campus placement is good. Average package goes about 7 lpa. Not many scholarship facilities are available for the general students. During the pandemic time also the college charged almost the entire tution fees.
Campus Life
Free wifi is available in all the hostels and the library. Gyms and all types of sports facilities are available for all. Newly renovated air conditioned library is full of books and journals. Labs with modern instruments are also available. But some old labs have some old non functional equipments as well. Robotics and AI lab is also available
Hostel Facilities
Hostels for the 1st year is good. But for other years old hostels are not so clean. Quality of food is very good. Food is served 3 times a day with a cost of Rs. 100. Available foods are like home cooked food. Rooms are allotted to the students on first come first serve basis. Earlier you come better room you will get. For first years hostels are compulsory but thereafter you can stay in any other rented house or pg. Durgapur is clean corruption free city. You easily avail a nice rented house or a pg near the hostel.
Admission
I came into this college after clearing jee mains exam. The counselling process was very smooth. My papers and documents were checked properly and then only my admission was certified. I didn't face any kind of interviews or gd for the admission process
