Remarks

NIT Durgapur is a popular and one of the prime engineering colleges in India. The overall ambience is great in the college. Much attention is given to research and innovation, and this encouraged me to opt for this college. In 2020, the admission process was entirely online, following the JEE Main rank and percentile. The branches and colleges were allotted to the candidates through six rounds on JoSAA's website. The candidates need to fill their choice of branches and colleges in order before the rounds start. After allotment, a registration form needs to be filled on the college website. Then, the admission is approved. While selecting this college, I had used Collegedunia's website.

Course Curriculum Overview

4

There is a praiseworthy research environment in the Chemistry department. The faculty to student ratio here is almost 1:1, and the course curriculum is updated and is similar to other top colleges. The faculties here are decent. Most of them are PhD. Three exams are conducted every semester. Usually, two of them are objective and the third is a subjective one. They aren't too difficult to pass.

Placement Experience

4

There is a placement office that helps students to get placed in various companies and organizations. The placement percentage in the college is around 70-75%. Every year around 100 companies visit the campus for holding interviews. Some of them are Adobe, Amazon, Goldman Sachs, JP Morgan, Microsoft and TCS. One can sit for these job interviews from the 7th semester. In 2020, the number of job offers made were 506, with 50 of them getting double offers. I plan to begin a startup after college.

College Events

4.5

Life at the campus is remarkable. The peer group is great and one can easily meet like-minded people. The annual techno-management fest of the college is Aarohan. In 2021, it was conducted in March-April. Books, journals and many other texts are available in the library. Every department also has a library of its own. The classrooms have a good capacity, and all other necessary amenities are available. Sports and extracurricular activities are frequent within the campus. The playgrounds are called Oval & Lords and many outdoor activities like cricket and football are played here. The hostel rooms are fine, and one gets used to the food available. There are many clubs in the college like Literary Circle, QuizInc, Entrepreneurship Development Club (EDC), GNU/LINUX Users' Group, Centre For Cognitive Activities, Recursion, Prakriti - the environmental club, etc. Also, Bihari More Education Project (BMEP) is a social group here to educate financially backward students.

Campus Life

4.5

Being a residential institute, the infrastructure in the college is good and has improved immensely. The central field is called The Oval. Many intercollege tournaments are played here. There is WiFi connectivity inside the campus and the internet speed is decent. The central library is big and has lakhs of books. The laboratories have been renovated and are well equipped.

Admission

There isn't any group discussion, interview or written test after one locks the seat they are allotted. The rank secured in the JEE Main exam is the only criteria for admission.

The placements of our college are below average. Studies for placement are more or less relevant from second semester. companies like tcs, amazon etc do visit our campus however very few are selected with package above 4-5 LPA. Most of the students seek out for higher studies and that's my plan too.
