Course Curriculum Overview
I was really interested in Electronics and Communication Engineering from my childhood when I decided to be an engineer. Also I got this course as per my councelling. This is why I chose this course. Faculty student ratio is 1:10. All professors are highly qualified and are having specialised research interests. Term exams are done timely every term and are relatively easy to pass for most terms.
Internships Opportunities
Companies like Microsoft, Facebook, Qualcom, Texas Instruments and many more visited the campus for internships. Microsoft gave a stripend of 110000. Research opportunities from IITs were also provided.
Placement Experience
Students can apply for campus internships from there 5ths sem of B.Tech. Campus placements starts from 7th sem. This year no FAANG companies because of recession but last year they gave internships. The highest package is around 52lpa. I am placed so my plans are to join the company and start my professional career.
Fees and Financial Aid
Fess structure for a generall category student is around 76000 per semester. Reserved category students will have much less fess to pay. All scholarships available for college students applying for these coursees are available. Campus jobs are provided by the college and mostly all students gets placed every year.
Campus Life
Annual fest is Recstacy in March and tech fest is Arohan in February. Mostly all course books are available in the library. There are 2 academic buildings functioning currently one is Main Academic building and the other id New Academic building. MAB is really old and broken. Some classes doesnt have proper ventilations and working fans. Some classes have leaking water from roof during monsoon season. Also projectors doesnt work in many classes. NAB is really up to date with infrastructure and all state of the art facilities are available. 1st and 2nd years will go to NAB and others go to MAB. We have a 2 grounds one maintained other not maintained and volleball courts and badminton courts. All hostels have playing areas. There is a gym with very basic amanities. Many active clubs are there wich are really nice. Overall the campus life is fun with friends and there are nice spots to hang around but infrastructure provided by college is bad.
Hostel Facilities
Rooms have basic facilities with no wired net connections and 15mbps wifi connection. A table, a chair, a bed and a cupboard is provided for each students and in boys hostel every room has 3 students. Meal quality is average hostel food. Hostels are free for students and only fees for food is taken.
Admission
I sat for Joint Entrance Exam (JEE) - Mains and passed the cutoff of 90%ile. Then we had to sit for JOSAA councelling which gave us the college and branch we can apply for as per our JEE-Mains percentile. The eligibility of the course I took, i.e., B.Tech. ECE at NIT Durgapur was around 98.5%ile.
