I liked everything that IIT Madras has offered to me till now.

There is nothing that I disliked. I'm satisfied.

Placement Experience:

Students are eligible for placements from the fourth year. Students do their internship in the third year. A lot of big companies visit our campus every year to hire new brilliant minds. The Placements are good.

Hostel facilities are a little not up to date

Placement Experience:

The student is eligible t sit for placements in their 7th semester. More than 200 companies come for placements with more than 1200 offers. The highest placement is usually for SDE or quant. 70% of the students get placed and the rest take up higher studies and entrepreneurship.

Likes

Student run organizations that give lot of freedom
The evergreen atmosphere filled with trees
A very helpful network of awesome seniors

Dislikes

Not all hostel rooms and classrooms have ACs
Most of the times, the courses turn out to be tough
Classes start at 8 AM almost all days of the week

Placement Experience:

Students become eligible for campus placements in their final year. So many companies in diverse fields visit the campus and most of the students get offers. My plans after getting a degree are mainly to get a good placement.

The way professor teaches us any topic is outstanding
The instructor are very hard working in absence of professor they teaches us like them only

Placement Experience:

Students completing at least one diploma became eligible for internships and job offers. The faculty train them according to industry need before a job interview. Many companies like Syngenta, TATA, flutura, etc. are hiring partners in this. this degree is in the initial phase so the highest package is 12LPA and the average is 6LPA.

Immense internship opportunities, Direct walk in interviews in placements.

Dislikes

Too much academic pressure on students which can be lessened to some extent.

Placement Experience:

The placement process takes place in September and interviews are held in the first week of December. Placements are best in the country. The highest package this year was 1.2 cr domestic given by aphagrep to an Mtech cse. The average is around 30-35 lpa. Almost all students get placed.

The campus is situated inside a national park with deers, making it a unique and beautiful environment to study in
The library is really good and provides opportunities to study with other people.
The sports facilities are also quite good, providing students with opportunities for physical activity.

Dislikes

The food is not that good, which can be a major issue for students who are looking for quality meals.
The distance between the hostels and classrooms is huge, which can make it difficult to travel on foot, and a cycle or other transportation options are necessary.

Course Curriculum Overview:

Course curriculum is designed to provide students with relevant and important subjects, such as modern app development, Python, and basics of data science, as well as mathematics and statistics lectures with Java and DSA. This curriculum appears to be well-rounded and comprehensive, covering a range of topics that are relevant to the field of computer science and technology. The faculty members are described as good and able to explain any doubts that students may have. The 1:50 ratio suggests that the faculty is able to provide individual attention to students and address their questions and concerns effectively. Actually, this course is self-paced so Students start getting campus placements after completing at least one diploma, but those who take all the courses available for the semester can get campus placement from the 4th semester, actually, this course started recently and no further placements and package details are available yet.

From the 7th semester, students are eligible for campus placements. There are around 500 companies like Amazon, Microsoft, Google, shell, Schlumberger, etc. visit every year and they made a total offer of around 1500. In 2022, the average package was around 21 LPA. After getting my degree, my dream is to become a software developer.

Placements vary from branch to branch. Our college attracts more than 300 companies every year constantly. must say around 50-60 percent of people crack on-campus placements and others mostly get a job in off-campus opportunities.

The online Data Science program at IIT Madras is a great opportunity for someone who can not attend regular college because of financial constraints, illness, or other reasons. The online BS in Data Science and Application allows students to gain knowledge of this field from one of the most reputed engineering colleges in India.

The online lectures are taught by experienced faculty members from IITM. What I found most interesting was the professors' distinct approach to teaching. The students are routinely assisted by committed and supportive staff.

IIT Madras has undertaken a unique approach to imparting their expertise in the highly demanded field of Data Science.

What are your thoughts on IIT Madras offering a bachelor's degree/diploma online?

It is a full-time degree or diploma and so it will have more value than online. But if we compare IIT Madras’ online degree or diploma with any other college’s then it is better.

The duration of the course is 3 years. The mode of training is online, the lectures are mostly recorded and partly live sessions.

Whether the course will be good or not that depends on what subject you are planning to pursue. If you opt for a subject related to technology, then it is not a good option. This is because technology cannot be learned through books or audiovisual. It requires you to be present in the field to gain experience and knowledge.
