I get swami vivekananda merit cum scholarship which is very helpful for me.
Placements the placement for computer science and technology department is really appreciable and since it is a college of national importance, some really highy package giving companies come for placements and take a good handful number of student.
Campus is very green and lovely. you would surely love the experience.

Dislikes

The hostel facility is horrible in our college we don't have many single seater rooms there were very limited which intern causes disputes among students and the food facility was also not good it's really very hard
Actually hostel facilities is not good in indian institute of enginnering science and technology the maintainnace is poor and my college is in west bengal, shibpur and for me i dont like bengal food as i am from andhra pradesh.
The hostels are a bit bad in condition. one has to face some problems regarding stay.

My College Life Journey...

Likes

2nd oldest engineering college infrastructure is old I gives vibe of an heritage building.
Globally alumini network is strongest in the word.
Research opportunities are too good and recommendations of professors are very best for research and other things.

Dislikes

Classes schedules are too hectic but manageable if you can.
Because it is too old so that it want some renovations and replacements.
Night canteens and restaurants are not in the campus so if possible then it is the best.

Placement Experience:

After your 4th semester you can apply for internship and after your 6th semester you can eligible for on and off campus placement. Companies like Accenture, IBM ,Tata steel , PWC , Wipro , Mahindra and Microsoft and so on are visiting for placements and total number of students previous year placed is 67 out of 89 and many of the students who did not apply for placements go for Higher studys. As all students I have also dream for placements.

IIEST SHIBPUR - The forgotten gem

Likes

The campus is situated just beside the banks of Ganges so it's always breezy .
The campus has multiple cafeterias and has free wifi all over the campus
The teachers are really experienced and skilled

Dislikes

The campus is huge but the authorities have not used that space adequately.
The buildings are very old and needs renovation
We need more hostels and proper washrooms

Placement Experience:

Our college provides good placements ! Last year the highest on campus placement package was about 32lpa and off campus placement was 1.2cr per year . And since it has a huge alumni network so it gets easier for freshers to find a job .

Likes

Education Environment are very Good and Professors are very helpful.
Campus life is nice and Many things of this college makes different from Other colleges.
This campus is closest to Kolkata City and This college situated besides of Ganga River

Dislikes

Hostel Food is not good , Vegetarian peoples will Hate From Mess food
Hostel facility is not too good and Seating facility is not too good

Course Curriculum Overview:

Curriculum Of this college are unique and curriculum of course are depends on the department. Curriculum of the department of Information Technology are good beacuse hardware portion are not in the syllabus .

Details Review of IIEST Shibpur

Likes

Our campus is full of greenery ,plants and trees which is best things for our college and nature lover.
Ponds and lakes are the heart of the college which gives very good view especially bidisha lake.
Ganga ghat is very near the college campus which best things

Dislikes

Infrastructure of our college is not good as it is INI College.
Hostel accomodation is very bad . You have share 1 single room 3 other guy.
Classes time schedule and lab assignment is very bad which make you busy all day like a employee of any company.

Placement Experience:

Placement of the IT branches i.e are very good that i.e average 16-18 Lpa and higheest 54 lpa with around 85 percent. especially IT branch .but Core branch lacks in placement especially in Civil engineering.

A Review of IIEST Shibpur

Likes

The professors are mostly PhD holders and are highly experienced in teaching and mentoring students .They also guide the students during any technical events happening within the campus or externally.
The location of IIEST shibpur campus is good and the campus is well maintained. There are two main sports ground ,a gymnasium ,guest house, basketball court, hospital and various other facilities.
The course curriculum is standard and is relevant to the latest industry requirements which is very helpful for the students.

Dislikes

The number of companies visiting the IIEST shibpur campus is decreasing every year significantly but the placement cell of the college hardly bothers about it. The NIRF ranking has also gone down in the recent years.

Placement Experience:

The placement record of IIEST Shibpur is good however it has deteriorated during the last two years. The students are eligible for internships from the third year and placements from the final year of the course. Companies like Microsoft, Google, PWC, Tata Steel, and Texas Instruments are some that visit our campus. The average package is around 12 lacs per annum and this year the highest package offered to a student is around 3.5 Cr per annum (off-campus placement ) by Barclays UK.

The College was quite small but it was situated in the city middle so it was not required a large area
The natural condition was quite good, The hostel was good
The faculty was also good , it was ragging free campus

Dislikes

The campus was quite old one, the need to do some repair
The College wifi was good but it ask to sign in every day
The guard were always keep an eye on the freshers but it will get reduced slowly

Placement Experience:

Placements were better not the best, but I suggest to come here only if u want to pursue or go for further studies But it doesn't mean the placements were worst The resssecion period was going on at present

Beautiful IIEST

Likes

The best part about IIEST shibpur is being a 2nd oldest engineering college of our Nation, it is having its historical remains of that period.
The lush green campus, being a best thing to roam around .
College emphasize more on research works, helping students to visit Germany after third year for higher studies (T and C are there).

Dislikes

The old infrastructure (historic remains)
Lack of sports coaching and coaches for every sports.
College don't focus on placements much (but also placement are good enough), if they start focusing on this then placement will become more awesome.

Placement Experience:

Placements are good, rather than college don't allows 6 months internship then also placements are one of the good aspect of IIEST shibpur, This year (ongoing placement) off campus offer of 3.5 Crore is given to a student, the average placement till last yr was around 11.5 lakhs per annum.

Review of Indian institute of engineering science and technology, Shibpur

The college has a large campus size. considering the surrounding areas are really congested, relative to that the college has a large campus area.
Good sports facilities are there if one is interested in sports, various kinds of competitions, fests, departmental fests, annual college cultural fest take place in the even semester.
Selective teachers actually teach well and are helpful.

Dislikes

College doesn't have enough hostel accomodation to accommodate all the students, forcing many students to commute daily or to take up flats nearby the college at a high cost as PGs aren't available nearby.
Students residing in the flats nearby have to arrange everything ranging from food to stay to necessary furnitures themselves. Also the food that is available nearby isn't good, it's unhealthy and not advisable for daily intake.
The college has their own canteen too which serve okay-ish food and are slightly overpriced. The college is located in an odd location hence if someone wants to commute they have to do break journey, surrounding areas are really congested and dirty.

Placement Experience:

Students get eligible for placements in the 4th year. They are eligible to appear for internships from the 3rd year. The highest package remains around 50lpa. The average package remains somewhere around 10lpa. About 80-85% strength get placed. Companies offering high packages include Microsoft, ibm, Uber , Texas instruments, Google etc. companies like Accenture, tata steel, Aditya Birla group, PWC etc offer packages of medium range. I plan to get a decent enough placement after my degree.

My College Life

Likes

I liked the time table of my college. Most days we don't have college from 9 to 4, and we have holidays every Saturday and Sunday.
I appreciate my course structure. Professors in our department are very experienced. The average package of my course is 14 LPA.

Dislikes

I didn't like the infrastructure of my college. It is worst infrastructure I have ever seen. Most of the buildings in our college are built during British rule.
Hostels are the worst in our college. Even our hostels are very old and during rainy season the top floor of our hostel leaks water. Even food is not good.
Except for my department most of the professors don't speak english.

Placement Experience:

After 6th semester students become eligible for campus placements. There are lot of companies which visit the college but most percentage of the jobs are offered by Google, Microsoft, Amazon, TCS, Reliance, Wipro etc. the average package in my department during 2024 campus placements is 14 LPA and the highest package is 39 LPA in campus placements and 83 LPA in off campus placements. More than 80 Percent of the students are placed every year. I plan to write Gate and do MBA after getting my degree.

Likes

Good campus with lush greenery and 2 big grounds for sports
Many hostels with good water system and good food for bengalis
AC classrooms for Every department and no much classes in 4th year

Dislikes

Worst drainage system full mosquitoes late results
Worst interior in the rooms and in rainy season water leaks from roofs
Worst food daily same menu with low quality rice and dal

Placement Experience:

From 7th semester you are eligible for placements Tata consultancy services , Pwc, ICICI , Duesthe bank ,Wells Fargo etc no of offers for my batch are more than 300 highest package is 40 lpa and lowest package is 3.3 lpa avg is 7 lpa percentage of students placed is 70 my plan is to join a company which I got selected through campus placement

One of my friends is a final-year student at IIEST Shibpur. According to him, the placement last year has been great. Microsoft IDC (PPO), Mentor Graphics, CESC Ltd (PPO), Tata Steel (PPO), Bentley Systems completed their recruitment process on campus and hired more candidates than they did last year. Companies like Atlassian, Samsung R&D, and PwC are also expected to recruit on campus. A brief discussion about placements and other aspects of the institute are as follows.

Placements:

Pre-final year students got internship offers from various firms like Microsoft R&D, Deutsche Bank, Wells Fargo, and Texas Instruments this year. Other firms which will be having on-campus recruitment will most likely be hiring interns also. Hence, needless to mention that the placement scenario has continued its trend of improvement this year as well.
Students have been hired in companies like Microsoft IDC, Cognizant, Samsung R&D, Infosys, TCS Research and Innovation, Z. S. Associates, etc. from campus placements. Off-campus placements also include Google (Bangalore).
The median salary that has been offered is around 7 LPA and every one of the scholars participating in placements got placed. The placement cell improved and has become more proactive and efficient in training and placement of scholars.

Infrastructure:

All departments, libraries and hostels are Wi-Fi enabled with decent speeds. The Science and Technology Department features a 1Gigabit backbone network.
The rooms and labs are well maintained and have all the specified equipment. The central library is not extremely big but features a good assortment of useful titles. There are smaller departmental libraries also.
The hostels are decent and clean but might be improved. They need indoor game facilities also. A replacement hostel for women has just been built and features a far better review.
There are multiple canteens on Campus serving good quality food at reasonable rates and a CCD stall with significantly cheaper rates than usual.
Other amenities include Gymnasium, Sports fields, Court and Infirmary.

Faculty:

The college consists of highly qualified and knowledgeable teachers. They clear the doubts if consulted. Most teachers teach using both chalkboard and multimedia aids.
There are multiple teachers and other lab assistants to guide the students during the lab classes.
The course curriculum is aligned with most other national institutions and contains the essential topics necessary for the course.

The campus is lush green and located on the bank of the river Ganges. Right beside the institute is Botanical Gardens. Many events take place at the institute all year around. There are annual Techno-Management fest Instruo, Annual Cultural fests Rebecca and Anuranan, and departmental fests. Besides that, there are also sports events. Meritorious students can avail scholarships sponsored by the Alumni Association.
