I get swami vivekananda merit cum scholarship which is very helpful for me.
Placements the placement for computer science and technology department is really appreciable and since it is a college of national importance, some really highy package giving companies come for placements and take a good handful number of student.
Campus is very green and lovely. you would surely love the experience.

Dislikes

The hostel facility is horrible in our college we don't have many single seater rooms there were very limited which intern causes disputes among students and the food facility was also not good it's really very hard
Actually hostel facilities is not good in indian institute of enginnering science and technology the maintainnace is poor and my college is in west bengal, shibpur and for me i dont like bengal food as i am from andhra pradesh.
The hostels are a bit bad in condition. one has to face some problems regarding stay.

First of all it is old, so that the alumi connection is very strong.
All departments are good, except one (electrical)

Electrical engineering department teachers doesn't gives marks as other departments teacher gives

Course Curriculum Overview:

The courses according to me is upto the mark and as per the GATE examination. So here, many students achieved best rank , for example the AIr 2 in the department of electrical engineering in GATE 2023. As per my knowledge is concerned that the syllabus has been completed till 5th semester so that, students can review the preparation of GATE examination.

Also famous for research programs for aerospace engineering

The quality of hostel mess food and dishes
Situated at City so pollution problem...
There are very hot days in summer.temperature is too high.

Placement Experience:

It depends on the ability of students.In fourth year students are eligible for placement and in 3rd year they can apply for internships. Tcs,tata steel,jsw,pidilite,Mahindra and manyore companies are visited . 70 percentage of students are palaced . My plan is get placed in a best company at best package.

I like the way teachers teach and cooperate with the students. The way they explain and make us learn in the lab sessions and all.
The HRM department which takes care about the placements of the students.
The college environment and the beautiful campus.

Dislikes

The hostels are a bit bad in condition. one has to face some problems regarding stay.
The mess system is not good as the food wont be good
Infrastructure of the college is a bit poor.

Placement Experience:

From the seventh semester, students are eligible to get placements. there are so many companies who visit our college and give a good package. average package will be around 6-7lpa. approximately 70% of the students are being placed.

Placements the placement for computer science and technology department is really appreciable and since it is a college of national importance, some really highy package giving companies come for placements and take a good handful number of student.
For our department the average placement package was 13lpa. And mine was 19lpa.
Hostel life is what you can truely experience. Located in howrah it takes rougly 30 minutes to reach kolkata and you can have a lot of things to do there.

Dislikes

If you are a student from nearby locations i would suggest to opt for some other NIT as you might not get hostel and end up being a day scholar which will ruin all the fun of studying in a college of national importance. You will also miss out on
And beware of departments with less number of students. The teachers literally torture you till death. I had friends there and the experience wasn't good. Also placements from those departments are a bit tricky but if you are a good student, you can
Bag an average of 6-7lpa based on you grasp in subjects.

Placement Experience:

In the beginning of 3rd year, companies start hiring interns. The number of students selected is less but still good. Try to Bag one offer and if you perform well during your internship period you will get a pre placement offer and can join the company as full time after your course is over. In my department the placement scenario is pretty pleasant and majority of us got internship opportunities and placements too. The average CTC from my department was 13lpa and I got 19lpa. The highest package was 80lpa offered by Atlassian. And then there was Microsoft offering around 50lpa. But then the majority of companies pay below 10 and you have to give your 200% to grab the offer from companies that give more than 10. And then there is luck.

IIEST Shibpur - top college for B tech

The seniors are friendly and helpful , they conduct a website named BEING civil where all the previous year questions and notes are posted which is very helpful for juniors
The campus is nice , it has very nice ambience and greenary, the campus is ragging free and student friendly
the professors are highly qualified and student friendly

Dislikes

The infrastructure is bit old and needs to be improved
The hostels are bit old and food is not that good, the water sometimes causes problem
The curriculum is bit hectic sometimes and sometimes there is no gap between exams which causes immense pressure

students become eligible for campus placement from 7th sem. Many companies like ITD cementation , AFCON, PWC, SMS group, LnT constructions, ICICI bank , TCS visited and made over 80+ offers ( placement is still going on). About 70-80% students get placed. One can also pursue M tech from IITs or esteemed foreign universities after b tech.

Our college has good placements records.It has very good placements in Cse and IT branches with an average on around 15 lpa.Core companies has also good placements with an average on around 7-8 lpa .U can also get placements irrespective of their branch bases on ur hardwork

It's campus environment and brotherhood of students. There are various clubs e.g. drama club, sports club, music club etc.
faculties are very helpful and good human being. They helps us in our studies and guide us for our project works.

Dislikes

The main infrastructure is not that good specially those who are in various high position are not that effective for the development for the university.
Conditions of the buildings and hostels are so bad but no action has been taken.

In our 3rd semester the companies came to offer jobs to the students. Companies such as Akash-Byju's, Physics Wallah and various tech companies like, TCS, ZIFO, ect. are also there to offer jobs. And the average sallary pakage is 7-10 LPA for our students and for B.Tech students the sallary average is more than us.

IIEST : Pros and Cons

The campus is solely an example of natural beauty.
The annual fest , REBECA ofcourse ! No way to forget it.

Placement Experience:

90% students from M.Sc in Mathematics don't go for placements. In our batch only 3 people ( I might be wrong) got placed , 2 in ZIFO R&D with roughly about 4.5 LPA in Bangalore, 1 in BYJU'S (I don't know the CTC). My plans were getting into Ph.D. in Mathematics. I am still working on that.

IIEST-A good place to live for four years

Campus of our college is very great and beautiful. You can roam in campus at evening without feeling bored.
Mess food is good. also here you will find many canteens in the campus.
Location of the college is in market and you can go anywhere in city by bus which you will get from college gate.

Dislikes

Hostels are old and few hostels are damaged.
Classrooms of CSE, IT, Mining,EE,ETC have AC but that of ME and Civil are not air conditioned.
Here you will not get single room hostel till 3rd year. But you can opt out from hostel and stay in PGs, flat just outside of the campus.

Placement Experience:

Students are eligible for campus placement from 4th year. As you know that the college is located in city Kolkata, so here you will find a great opportunity in placement. About 80% of students gets placed and many students opt for higher education. Average package is about 15lpa.

One of my friends is a final-year student at IIEST Shibpur. According to him, the placement last year has been great. Microsoft IDC (PPO), Mentor Graphics, CESC Ltd (PPO), Tata Steel (PPO), Bentley Systems completed their recruitment process on campus and hired more candidates than they did last year. Companies like Atlassian, Samsung R&D, and PwC are also expected to recruit on campus. A brief discussion about placements and other aspects of the institute are as follows.

Placements:

Pre-final year students got internship offers from various firms like Microsoft R&D, Deutsche Bank, Wells Fargo, and Texas Instruments this year. Other firms which will be having on-campus recruitment will most likely be hiring interns also. Hence, needless to mention that the placement scenario has continued its trend of improvement this year as well.
Students have been hired in companies like Microsoft IDC, Cognizant, Samsung R&D, Infosys, TCS Research and Innovation, Z. S. Associates, etc. from campus placements. Off-campus placements also include Google (Bangalore).
The median salary that has been offered is around 7 LPA and every one of the scholars participating in placements got placed. The placement cell improved and has become more proactive and efficient in training and placement of scholars.

Infrastructure:

All departments, libraries and hostels are Wi-Fi enabled with decent speeds. The Science and Technology Department features a 1Gigabit backbone network.
The rooms and labs are well maintained and have all the specified equipment. The central library is not extremely big but features a good assortment of useful titles. There are smaller departmental libraries also.
The hostels are decent and clean but might be improved. They need indoor game facilities also. A replacement hostel for women has just been built and features a far better review.
There are multiple canteens on Campus serving good quality food at reasonable rates and a CCD stall with significantly cheaper rates than usual.
Other amenities include Gymnasium, Sports fields, Court and Infirmary.

Faculty:

The college consists of highly qualified and knowledgeable teachers. They clear the doubts if consulted. Most teachers teach using both chalkboard and multimedia aids.
There are multiple teachers and other lab assistants to guide the students during the lab classes.
The course curriculum is aligned with most other national institutions and contains the essential topics necessary for the course.

The campus is lush green and located on the bank of the river Ganges. Right beside the institute is Botanical Gardens. Many events take place at the institute all year around. There are annual Techno-Management fest Instruo, Annual Cultural fests Rebecca and Anuranan, and departmental fests. Besides that, there are also sports events. Meritorious students can avail scholarships sponsored by the Alumni Association.
