I get swami vivekananda merit cum scholarship which is very helpful for me.
Placements the placement for computer science and technology department is really appreciable and since it is a college of national importance, some really highy package giving companies come for placements and take a good handful number of student.
Campus is very green and lovely. you would surely love the experience.

Dislikes

The hostel facility is horrible in our college we don't have many single seater rooms there were very limited which intern causes disputes among students and the food facility was also not good it's really very hard
Actually hostel facilities is not good in indian institute of enginnering science and technology the maintainnace is poor and my college is in west bengal, shibpur and for me i dont like bengal food as i am from andhra pradesh.
The hostels are a bit bad in condition. one has to face some problems regarding stay.

Its infrastructure is good but too improve and its will be improve in coming year
Liberary will be avilable for 24 hours during exam

Placement is good in computer science IT and electrical department but a little bit good in core branch many companies visit for Placement like pwc , tata steel and many companies and this give ppo also of those student who do internship in companies

IIEST SHIBPUR LIFE

Likes

The facilities for hostels are good like they provide you bed, a study table and almirah. Sometimes you can cook for yourself in your room.
The campus is very green and feels good to roam around. Socials interaction with people from others states feels good.
The placements are also good for BTech students. Also they have alot of events to take part in.

Dislikes

The infrastructure is pretty old as this college is 2nd oldest in India.
Sometimes there are no holidays on important festivals but still we manage to celebrate it after classes.
The lab conditions are very bad since this college is old.

The placements are very good for BTech students. As I don't know much about Mtech but M.Sc placements are also good not too good but average. BTech has the best placements because many companies offer them job as this college is NIT level college.

Sports and other societies are too good here.
A big campus gives a beautiful vibe for our enjoyment.
A interaction with seniors and juniors are too good.

Dislikes

Acandemic should improve their quality education.
Hostel foods should improve and ensure that every child gets healthy food.
Teacher should understood the studnet situation.

Course Curriculum Overview:

Actually , my college has a old campus and in this college, research is too good from the previous times. And my interest is in aerospace engineering, so i choose this college for my aerospace carrier.

IIEST Shibpur is best engineering college!!

College is at a walking distance from Howrah Maidan Metro Station.
College has the best faculties and also the best classes and labs.
College also provides the best placements too which are next to Jadhavpur University.

Dislikes

Some buildings are torned out now and needs a redevelopment.

Accenture, TCS, IBM, Wirpo and various other top companies have seen IIEST Shibpur to be the best talent pool. Average placements are going up and average placements numbers are also heading towards the sky. My plans post degree is to pursue MBA as technical knowledge along with financial knowledge is what helps in making a man who can survive in this competitive world.

The greenery around the campus, the fests and there are dustbins installed after every few metres that helps to keep the campus clean.
I liked the fee structure too being affordable and feasible for many and people being considerate, like they really try to help and motivate. The campus has good social interactions and there are many clubs for students.
The professors and the lab assistants, they give their best to uplift the students and encourage them. Infrastructure of the Main Building is also decent. Labs have PCs and good internet connection.

Dislikes

The administration is a bit slow and we get things delayed that becomes problematic many a times.
I don't personally like the mess food and washrooms are unhygienic many a times.
Their is a lot of old heritage to be restored, till now no action has be taken. But once it is done it would be a great to explore.

Placement Experience:

Placements were great for the 2023 batch but after that from the last year due to recession very few companies came to college and this year 2024, it is even worse than that. At least if 6-month internships were granted it can be better. But, the tech companies like Microsoft, Google also comes on-campus to IIEST.

A Great College with decent infrastructure

Likes

Many club and sporting events happen regularly to increase social interaction.
Course curriculum includes all the relevant topics required for good placements.
Professors are mostly from IITs and IISc. They are experienced and expert in their field.

Dislikes

College and hostel infrastructure needs improvement as many buildings have turned old.
College is not very responsive to the voice of the students.
College should support internship from second year onwards.

Students are eligible to sit for placements from 3rd year. Big companies like Google, Microsoft, JP Morgan, Accenture, BNY Mellon,Tata, L&T and more came for campus placement. Highest package was around 56LPA. Average package was around 8LPA. 82 percent of students were placed in my course. If I did not get placed, I will try for placements off campus.

Likes

The college campus I liked the most because there is much more peace and green environment in the whole surrounding.
The library I like because there is a perfect atmosphere to study and a huge availability of books to read and understand the course and subject.
There is a meditation hall which is a best place for gossiping with friends.

Dislikes

Drainage system of the college campus is so bad.
Hostel maintainance is very very bad.And the behaviour of the hostel caretakers are very rude.
Food of hostel is much more bad than the behaviour of the caretaker.

From 7th semester students become an eligibility for campus placement. Name is the Companies which visited are TATA STEEL, Wipro Infotech, JSW, JINDAL, TCS and much more other companies.The highest package is 11 lakh per annum is given by this companies. Over 75 percent students are placed per year from this college.

IIEST Shibpur if filled with greenery,it's very calm ,the infrastructure is awesome.I like the lakes and background stories that it carries and the playing ground and sports facilities are great

Nothing as such but it's super hot during summers .

Placement Experience:

The placement of this college is good or you can say decent,the ratio is good.And from 7th semester you are eligible for campus placement. From companies to companies the packages depends or varies . It can be a package of 40-50 lakhs or can be a minimum of 8-10 lakhs ..

The college campus is very big and beautiful.
The cultural fests and annual fest is also great.
The ganga ghat is really close from the college.

Dislikes

The faculty is bullshit .some profs are ok,but some are horrible.
The college hostels accommodation is really bad
The ratio of girls to boys is very poor.

The faculty at IIEST SHIBPUR is very experienced and research oriented. They are very helpful in providing everything that the student needs. They are very approachable for any form of academic doubts
The diversity of students and IIEST SHIBPUR is commendable. We have students from all over India engaging in all types of activities. THE DIVERSE CONNECTIONS YOU WILL FIND HERE IS UNMATCHED.
The campus life is vibrant and happening. We host the largest technical fest in Kolkata. And one of the oldest cultural fests Rebecca. All the departments hold their respective technical fests and events.

Dislikes

The hostels are old and dipidated. The mess food is not up to the mark. Mini buildings are in shabby and poor condition due to the lack of renovation. Many of the things are not properly well maintained like bathrooms, water cooler etc.
Despite having all the necessary infrastructure many of the research labs are in heavy condition due to the lack of funds. Sometimes the professors do research only for the sake of doing research and for getting funds.
Getting things done through the academic and administrative procedure can be quite hectic. For example getting a letter of recommendation or a past for applying to a foreign internship of 3 months and so on.

Students become eligible for campus placements from 7th semester onwards. There are large number of core and non core companies visiting the campus like Google Microsoft Texas instruments Deloitte Morgan Stanley Goldman Sachs etc The highest package was 55 lpa and the average package is 14 to 15 lpa. Almost all of the students get placed and few of them go into research and higher studies. After getting the degree I will give gate and seek job options in various PSU.

One of my friends is a final-year student at IIEST Shibpur. According to him, the placement last year has been great. Microsoft IDC (PPO), Mentor Graphics, CESC Ltd (PPO), Tata Steel (PPO), Bentley Systems completed their recruitment process on campus and hired more candidates than they did last year. Companies like Atlassian, Samsung R&D, and PwC are also expected to recruit on campus. A brief discussion about placements and other aspects of the institute are as follows.

Placements:

Pre-final year students got internship offers from various firms like Microsoft R&D, Deutsche Bank, Wells Fargo, and Texas Instruments this year. Other firms which will be having on-campus recruitment will most likely be hiring interns also. Hence, needless to mention that the placement scenario has continued its trend of improvement this year as well.
Students have been hired in companies like Microsoft IDC, Cognizant, Samsung R&D, Infosys, TCS Research and Innovation, Z. S. Associates, etc. from campus placements. Off-campus placements also include Google (Bangalore).
The median salary that has been offered is around 7 LPA and every one of the scholars participating in placements got placed. The placement cell improved and has become more proactive and efficient in training and placement of scholars.

Infrastructure:

All departments, libraries and hostels are Wi-Fi enabled with decent speeds. The Science and Technology Department features a 1Gigabit backbone network.
The rooms and labs are well maintained and have all the specified equipment. The central library is not extremely big but features a good assortment of useful titles. There are smaller departmental libraries also.
The hostels are decent and clean but might be improved. They need indoor game facilities also. A replacement hostel for women has just been built and features a far better review.
There are multiple canteens on Campus serving good quality food at reasonable rates and a CCD stall with significantly cheaper rates than usual.
Other amenities include Gymnasium, Sports fields, Court and Infirmary.

Faculty:

The college consists of highly qualified and knowledgeable teachers. They clear the doubts if consulted. Most teachers teach using both chalkboard and multimedia aids.
There are multiple teachers and other lab assistants to guide the students during the lab classes.
The course curriculum is aligned with most other national institutions and contains the essential topics necessary for the course.

The campus is lush green and located on the bank of the river Ganges. Right beside the institute is Botanical Gardens. Many events take place at the institute all year around. There are annual Techno-Management fest Instruo, Annual Cultural fests Rebecca and Anuranan, and departmental fests. Besides that, there are also sports events. Meritorious students can avail scholarships sponsored by the Alumni Association.
