I get swami vivekananda merit cum scholarship which is very helpful for me.
Placements the placement for computer science and technology department is really appreciable and since it is a college of national importance, some really highy package giving companies come for placements and take a good handful number of student.
Campus is very green and lovely. you would surely love the experience.

Dislikes

The hostel facility is horrible in our college we don't have many single seater rooms there were very limited which intern causes disputes among students and the food facility was also not good it's really very hard
Actually hostel facilities is not good in indian institute of enginnering science and technology the maintainnace is poor and my college is in west bengal, shibpur and for me i dont like bengal food as i am from andhra pradesh.
The hostels are a bit bad in condition. one has to face some problems regarding stay.

studying semester subjects as its of no use. No one asks about you semester subjects
If you want to see yourself in the non core field in IT domain
Well prepare for the exams as the question paper will be mediocore but if you will not get the marks

All the aspects of this college are good. Curriculum Of the course is well prepared if you really want to study your semester subject. But you will find it difficult to score marks during the examinations as the faculties will try their best to cut every marks whichever is possilbe.

Life of an M.tech student in IIEST

Likes

Campus life, nature, wind (cool wind blowing) i enjoyed them most with my friends
Placement was great and were effective along with internship opportunity
Number of lakes in the campus and time spent on the bench

Dislikes

Campus infrastructure was old and weary also there is a graveyard inside the campus thats scary.

Placement Experience:

For placement the college cell will ask you to register in Superset website. From your superset account you can apply for job and internships in different comapnies. there are more than 20 companies visited for placement this year. arround 80 percent students from my department were placed last year.

IIEST the oldest engineering college

Likes

The campus is clean and green and well maintained which regular dustbins
The clubs are really active and the seniors are very helpful and friendly.
Seniors offer to teach us the different skills required

Dislikes

The infrastructure can be improved especially the first year classrooms
The washrooms are not that clean and it creates huge problem sometimes
The gym and swimming pool is not open most of the times so can't really enjoy those facilities

IIEST, Shibpur - The Oldest Enginnering College

Likes

The thing I liked about this college is its Greenery and Lakes. During spring season it looks more beautiful with the newly blossomed flowers.

Dislikes

The thing I dislike about this college is just that here you have to tolerate a lot of humidity.

My course is Bachelor of Technology in Civil Engineering. The curriculum is designed for the benifits of Students so that they get quality education in their field. Well the course might be a little complicated which is the case for the most governments colleges. The course helps in students disciplined lives .

The placements in our college for this year are not so good as the recession period is going on. I was planning to get a government job in my core field by the gate exam . Some of the companies that visit our campus are PWC, TCS ,tata, etc...

College Experience of an IIEST student

the infrastructure and the environment inside the college were nice.
the placements and internships were good until last year, exclusively for the ETC department.
the course of electronics is good here because it is eligible for both the core and non core companies for the placements.

Dislikes

most of the professors have partiality towards Bengali students.

Placement Experience:

Upto the previous year the placements in our campus were good, but as the recession period has arrived this year the placements and internships are not so good in our campus. some of the companies that visit our campus are: microsoft,DB, Texas ,TATA, ICICI bank,.etc

Placements and future plans, students study too hard for their future.
Department and education. The Electronics and Telecommunication Engineering department is quite good when it comes to curriculum but it is quite difficult to follow.

Dislikes

Infrastructure and annual maintenance of college is quite poor. Campus is not cleaned and every where it is like dustbin.
Environment. Locals around are too rigid when it comes to language. College surrounding area filled with local market and always dirty and unhygienic.

Placement Experience:

Actually placements are good when it comes to college because of students continuous efforts. For electronics companies like Texas Instruments and Synopsis take interns and full time employees. For CST a IT the placements are quite good before recession. After recession everyone is hoping for the betterment in placements. Many students appear for GATE and GRE for higher studies.

One of my friends is a final-year student at IIEST Shibpur. According to him, the placement last year has been great. Microsoft IDC (PPO), Mentor Graphics, CESC Ltd (PPO), Tata Steel (PPO), Bentley Systems completed their recruitment process on campus and hired more candidates than they did last year. Companies like Atlassian, Samsung R&D, and PwC are also expected to recruit on campus. A brief discussion about placements and other aspects of the institute are as follows.

Placements:

Pre-final year students got internship offers from various firms like Microsoft R&D, Deutsche Bank, Wells Fargo, and Texas Instruments this year. Other firms which will be having on-campus recruitment will most likely be hiring interns also. Hence, needless to mention that the placement scenario has continued its trend of improvement this year as well.
Students have been hired in companies like Microsoft IDC, Cognizant, Samsung R&D, Infosys, TCS Research and Innovation, Z. S. Associates, etc. from campus placements. Off-campus placements also include Google (Bangalore).
The median salary that has been offered is around 7 LPA and every one of the scholars participating in placements got placed. The placement cell improved and has become more proactive and efficient in training and placement of scholars.

Infrastructure:

All departments, libraries and hostels are Wi-Fi enabled with decent speeds. The Science and Technology Department features a 1Gigabit backbone network.
The rooms and labs are well maintained and have all the specified equipment. The central library is not extremely big but features a good assortment of useful titles. There are smaller departmental libraries also.
The hostels are decent and clean but might be improved. They need indoor game facilities also. A replacement hostel for women has just been built and features a far better review.
There are multiple canteens on Campus serving good quality food at reasonable rates and a CCD stall with significantly cheaper rates than usual.
Other amenities include Gymnasium, Sports fields, Court and Infirmary.

Faculty:

The college consists of highly qualified and knowledgeable teachers. They clear the doubts if consulted. Most teachers teach using both chalkboard and multimedia aids.
There are multiple teachers and other lab assistants to guide the students during the lab classes.
The course curriculum is aligned with most other national institutions and contains the essential topics necessary for the course.

The campus is lush green and located on the bank of the river Ganges. Right beside the institute is Botanical Gardens. Many events take place at the institute all year around. There are annual Techno-Management fest Instruo, Annual Cultural fests Rebecca and Anuranan, and departmental fests. Besides that, there are also sports events. Meritorious students can avail scholarships sponsored by the Alumni Association.
