I get swami vivekananda merit cum scholarship which is very helpful for me.
Placements the placement for computer science and technology department is really appreciable and since it is a college of national importance, some really highy package giving companies come for placements and take a good handful number of student.
Campus is very green and lovely. you would surely love the experience.

Dislikes

The hostel facility is horrible in our college we don't have many single seater rooms there were very limited which intern causes disputes among students and the food facility was also not good it's really very hard
Actually hostel facilities is not good in indian institute of enginnering science and technology the maintainnace is poor and my college is in west bengal, shibpur and for me i dont like bengal food as i am from andhra pradesh.
The hostels are a bit bad in condition. one has to face some problems regarding stay.

Likes

Sometimes weather is good and cool and peaceful
The clubs are good we can choose according to our interests
The seniors are helpful and friendly in nature

Dislikes

Food is too sweet and there is no salt and chillies in the curries
People are not that good they smoke more.
They don't maintain our college properly

I'm in my 3rd year so they are providing us intership opportunities. But this year due to recursion companies are not coming and they are not recruiting more people as they recruited more last year...

My IIEST Shibpur Experience: The Good and the Needs-Improvement

Legacy and Reputation: IIEST Shibpur has a rich history and being a part of that felt special. The institute carries good recognition in the industry.
Strong Fundamentals: The coursework, despite needing updates, gave me a solid grounding in electronics and communication engineering concepts.
Campus Vibe: While not the fanciest, the campus had a certain old-school charm and a lot of greenery. The fests (REBECA and Incandescence) were highlights.

Dislikes

Placement Focus (Limited): While placement opportunities exist, it felt like there could be a more proactive approach and industry outreach, especially for core ECE companies.
Campus Upkeep: The cleanliness outside the main buildings was disappointing.
Limited Food Options: The low availability of online food delivery was frustrating, especially during late study sessions.

Course Curriculum Overview:

Overall, the ECE program at IIEST Shibpur has a strong foundation. You'll get the core concepts of electronics, communication, and signal processing. They do touch on some industry stuff like VLSI and IoT, but it could be more in-depth to keep up with the latest tech. I like that you get some choice with electives. For real-world jobs, more hands-on projects and industry connections would be a big plus. If you're into research, IIEST Shibpur is a good place for that, but they could do more to get undergrads involved early on. Here's where I think it needs work: Keep it Current: Tech changes fast! They should update the courses more often with things like 5G, AI in telecom, etc. Teach Differently: Less lectures, more projects, and real-world examples would make it way better. Likes

The ponds in college and greenary in college.
Old constructions and building infrastructure of college.

Placement Experience:

The placements is average in college that is Indian institute of engineering science and technology shibpur. In our college the best department is Information Technology and placements is good only. Professors are trying so much to get the full placement course. If It is not possible than there is gate exam or msc.

Classrooms , labs and academic related things are just perfect.
sports ,clubs for dance , music, photography are too good
Placements , Internships , HRM Placement cell are working well

Campus maintenance is not good . some places are bad
The food is not too good in hostels . It is difficult for the south Indians to eat.

I chose Electrical Engineering. My rank was not sufficient to get computer science and technology. But the placements in electrical engineering are decent. Appearing for gate and all we can easily get government jobs. My college was old with old faculty. They have more experience The labs and equipment were more than enough. If a person truly want to do EE he can enjoy studing it in our college

Likes

Campus is so good and teaching faculty too.
Teachers are so friendly and helpful and resources are also there.
Cultural and committee section is very good and responsible in there field.

Dislikes

In this campus toilets are very dirty and not soo good
In the section of MBA the placement is little bit less as compared to other.

Course Curriculum Overview:

Course curriculum is good and eco friendly. Mba is little bit dull but other than course other courses are very good and high paying placement are given. Teaching methods are so good and teachers are highly qualified and education is so good.

Likes

We have lush green campus with lot of heritage sites and a legacy
Faculty is outstanding . Many of our professors are globally renouned members of scientific community
Placement is great and almost all major companies in india visit the campus for placements

Dislikes

The course is backdated. IT students are also made to do mechanical workshop and ED
Infrastructure is extremely old and need renovation
Washrooms in the main buildimg are almost brolen and extremely unhyegenic

Placement Experience:

From 5th semester students become eligible for on camous internships and from 7th semester, students are eligible for on campus placements. Highest on campus package was 54 lpa and highest off campus package was 1.5cpa. Average package in IT was 19 lpa. Overall average package is around 10 lpa. More than 80% students from all branches get placed every year. After degree i am planning to get a corporate job

On campus placement opportunity is vary good .
This institute have a great startup culture.

Dislikes

infrastructures are very old hostels are also very.
the campus should be cleaned and maintaind properly
labs should be upgraded with modern equipments.

Placement Experience:

palcement is pritty good the last year students are elegible for campus placement and almost 85% student get paced. TATA STEEL , AMAZON ,TEXUS INSTRUMNTS , JSW,VEDANTA , ACCENTURE , PWC ,MARUTI SUZUKI etc come to campus placement.in the last placement drive AMAZON offered 54LPA to 14 students. the average package is 9.5 LPA.After getting the degree i will sit for campus placement and secure a campus placement and internship opportunity is also provided to the students through HRM cell.And many students go to research and some go to PSU through cracking gate.

The most underrated NIT

Likes

I liked people, seniors and staffs.I like the environment too.
I liked the food at the Cafe inn and institute canteen
I liked the subjects and healthy competition between students.

Dislikes

The timming is quite odd during exams as it starts from 1AM.
The slow administration process.Takes too long to do something and take decisions.
Communication probleam between students and administration.

Placement Experience:

College placement is good.Campus placements are offered.Most people take campus placement as their future career paths. Campus placement are very good for computer science and it departments.People also prefer for CAT and UPSC from these college and also research opportunities are good here.

Likes

Freedom is available in college. But if you don't use it properly it will be hell.
It's connectivity ia very good. Near by Saleamar,howrah station and near by kolkata.
Most of the faculties are good. Very helpful.

Dislikes

There is 75 percent attendance is mandatory.
Physics faculties are not good. They don't give efforts.
Hostels are very old. Especially 1st year hostels.

Placement Experience:

Actually I am first year student so I can't tell about placements in details. Anybody can check it in college website. The highest package is 52 lacks per anum. Average is 12-15 lacks. Many of us want to go in government jobs.

One of my friends is a final-year student at IIEST Shibpur. According to him, the placement last year has been great. Microsoft IDC (PPO), Mentor Graphics, CESC Ltd (PPO), Tata Steel (PPO), Bentley Systems completed their recruitment process on campus and hired more candidates than they did last year. Companies like Atlassian, Samsung R&D, and PwC are also expected to recruit on campus. A brief discussion about placements and other aspects of the institute are as follows.

Placements:

Pre-final year students got internship offers from various firms like Microsoft R&D, Deutsche Bank, Wells Fargo, and Texas Instruments this year. Other firms which will be having on-campus recruitment will most likely be hiring interns also. Hence, needless to mention that the placement scenario has continued its trend of improvement this year as well.
Students have been hired in companies like Microsoft IDC, Cognizant, Samsung R&D, Infosys, TCS Research and Innovation, Z. S. Associates, etc. from campus placements. Off-campus placements also include Google (Bangalore).
The median salary that has been offered is around 7 LPA and every one of the scholars participating in placements got placed. The placement cell improved and has become more proactive and efficient in training and placement of scholars.

Infrastructure:

All departments, libraries and hostels are Wi-Fi enabled with decent speeds. The Science and Technology Department features a 1Gigabit backbone network.
The rooms and labs are well maintained and have all the specified equipment. The central library is not extremely big but features a good assortment of useful titles. There are smaller departmental libraries also.
The hostels are decent and clean but might be improved. They need indoor game facilities also. A replacement hostel for women has just been built and features a far better review.
There are multiple canteens on Campus serving good quality food at reasonable rates and a CCD stall with significantly cheaper rates than usual.
Other amenities include Gymnasium, Sports fields, Court and Infirmary.

Faculty:

The college consists of highly qualified and knowledgeable teachers. They clear the doubts if consulted. Most teachers teach using both chalkboard and multimedia aids.
There are multiple teachers and other lab assistants to guide the students during the lab classes.
The course curriculum is aligned with most other national institutions and contains the essential topics necessary for the course.

The campus is lush green and located on the bank of the river Ganges. Right beside the institute is Botanical Gardens. Many events take place at the institute all year around. There are annual Techno-Management fest Instruo, Annual Cultural fests Rebecca and Anuranan, and departmental fests. Besides that, there are also sports events. Meritorious students can avail scholarships sponsored by the Alumni Association.
