Johns Hopkins University Return on Investment 2026

The Return on Investment at Johns Hopkins depends largely on the program selected and on the scholarships one receives. The Health Insurance (~$3,300/year) at JHU is mandatory.

Living costs in Baltimore are considered moderate compared to NYC/Boston. JHU’s brand carries strong value in medicine, public health, biomedical engineering, and research fields globally, which improves the ROI expectations overall.

As per the US News, Bloomberg programs have high prestige. The full-time, on-site degree from Bloomberg is expensive. The online/part-time version with automatic Welch Scholarship offers much better ROI. Salaries vary significantly by the chosen major (highest in Biomedical Engineering, Computer Science, Nursing, and certain Engineering fields). STEM field graduates benefit from better-paying job opportunities in the US.

At Johns Hopkins University, students often have a strong inclination toward research. The university itself places significant emphasis on research opportunities and recruitment. While industry-focused pathways are available, students may need to take a more proactive approach in exploring and securing such opportunities. Thus, finding the right pathway while studying at the university will be beneficial. Analysing the cost of living in the US, apart from the tuition fee, and budgeting accordingly can help Indian students sustain better in a foreign land.

If you have completed a bachelor’s degree at a college/university in a country where the official language is not English, but where the sole/primary language of instruction, writing, and testing is English are exempted from submitting a valid ELP test score. However, you must provide documentation from the college/university confirming English Language instruction; documentation can include a certificate, letter, or other official document stating the language of instruction.
