Course Curriculum Overview
The course was recently switched to mandatorily an honours program. 3 years for an honours degree and an optionaln 4th year for honours plus research degree. The new curriculum has increased difficulty and rigour but is manageable easily if you work hard.
Internships Opportunities
There are 2 mandatory internships you need to do in summer breaks. Ngo and corporate. One is after first year and another after second year on your own during vacations. These are included in the course and are graded. Placement cell often gives internship opportunities we can apply for in companies. Seats are limited obviously.
Placement Experience
The college does work hard towards placements. There is a placement cell club as well which is headed by a faculty member and run by the students themselves. There are various programs happening regularly in the city , example:- how to build your CV. Not many students want a placement immediately after their bachelors so the statistics might be misleading a bit. Out of those who apply around 40-50 students are given placements in campus. The rest work for it themselves and it aint that hard if you have the credentials for it. A senior of mine got a placement of 8.5L last week
Fees and Financial Aid
2.7 lakhs p.a. is divided equally in 2 semesters as tuition fees. Seperate fees if you opt for the hostel but i stayed in a P.G. Scholarships are offered after the first semester based on your exam results. The topfew students receive a waiver in their fees. My friend who got 8.9 GPA earned a 20% waiver in her fees.
Campus Life
Lots of clubs are there. You can make your own club as well if you get it approved, otherwise unofficially. There are clubs for social service , theater, dance, music, journalism, investing, movies and more i cant remember. The college has sports teams as well and we compete in tournaments every year. The library is fantastic. The annual college fest is great as well
Admission
I chose SSE over JGU without a doubt and have no regrets about the same. The course in JGU was new and interesting. I quite liked it but personally economics and "Symbiosis" appealed more to me. Adding to that was living in a new city far from home compared to coming home every weekend seemed more apt. The admission process was simple. I gave the SET for admission after which i was shortlisted for the interview. A few weeks later i got my acceptance letter so yay
Faculty
There are exams at the end of each semester so twice in every academic year. There are some external subjects which have tests and final exams and 2-3 subjects are internal subjects which dont have finals and have other modes of evaluation, vivas ,class tests etc. There are midterm exams after 2 months of the commencement of the semester. These are of 20 marks. The finals are of 40 marks. The rest 40 marks are divided in projects, writings, research, assignments etc. The faculty student ratio is maintained nicely. Each class has a minimum of 35 and a maximum of 60 students amounting to 190 in the whole batch.
Night Life
The gym is well equipped and included in the fees already. Hostel in-time is 10:30 on weekdays and 11:30 on weekends. Lots of spots you will enjoy if you come to us. College cafeteria is great and well priced.
