The city of pune as a city is great and adds to the college life experience. Its student friendly, quite safe, clean and has good facilities.
The faculty is very experienced. They are well versed with the subject. SSE has regular visiting faculty.
The course structure is quite good. Division of subjects on basis of semesters is done well. The things taught in all subjects is also grea

Dislikes

Lack of scholarships for the needy is one thing that needed to be worked on.

Placement Experience:

The college does work hard towards placements. There is a placement cell club as well which is headed by a faculty member and run by the students themselves. There are various programs happening regularly in the city , example:- how to build your CV. Not many students want a placement immediately after their bachelors so the statistics might be misleading a bit. Out of those who apply around 40-50 students are given placements in campus. The rest work for it themselves and it aint that hard if you have the credentials for it. A senior of mine got a placement of 8.5L last week

The Symbi Life

The infrastructure is well equipped with all the necessities.
Every faculties are well versed with the course content.
They provide value added courses which will not only increase your knowledge base but also create a great addition to your CV.

Dislikes

The classes continue for 2 hrs. Which sometimes get exhausted.
Teachers don't provide any personal contact number rather than there mail id as the responses are delayed.
The Campus of SSE could have been bigger.

Course Curriculum Overview:

Students who want to opt for Msc in economics should have idea about the basics of economics and maths to navigate well with the curriculum. The syllabus of 1st and 2nd semester has been prepared to dwell deep into the cores of economics. From the 2nd year or 3rd semester you get to pick your specialization amongst Data analysis, Finance, International Trade, Developmental Studies, and Urban Studies. The Course itself will be taught in a manner to keep you updated with the job necessities and requirements. Extra value added courses are also added to enhance your learning in every possible manner. Exams are semester wise. With relative grading system.

faculty is nice. well experienced in their fields

Dislikes

the campus is obviously too small theres almost no place to hang out for the students
the classrooms are too small. no lift previliges are provided. no sufficient parking facilities
doesnt offer very well paying placements

the course structure is overall good. subjects are interesting but most of the books referred to are outdated. books are not provided bu college only pdfs are provided. however some faculties give direct study materials which is helpful for exams

Likes

Batch size is small so easier to make friends
College only specializes in one course so faculty is nice
Campus is situated on the main sb road. .

Dislikes

The campus is very small so not much room to roam around
Placements are not nice. Previous year placement data does not hold.

Placement Experience:

Students become eligible for college placement once they are in their fifth semester. Highest offer is 21 lakh but that was outside college hiring. Avg package was almost 6lakhs. About 100 students sat for placement out of which 45 have gotten placement.

Important things to note down before taking the big decision to join Symbiosis School of Economics

I liked the course especially from 2 nd semester it deals with real life and practical economics related subjects which make you think . It is not just about examination based but it is more than that.
I liked the subjects such as Mathematical Economics and Statistics of Economics.
You learn a new language as well . You can choose any one between German, Spanish, French and Sanskrit.

Dislikes

The teaching is a bit mid. The visiting faculties are really good especially those of ethics and cultures and also maths but the others not so good. You have to study by yourself. The notes and books will be shared but the best is studying yourself.
The campus is really small. It's basically not a campus, just a building.
There are no sports facilities nearby so you have to go outside the campus and the authorities hardly pay the reimbursements.

Course Curriculum Overview:

I liked the subjects such as statistics ,Math eco ,micro macro and also new languages. These subjects played a huge role in my decision to join the college. The course makes you do case studies and mostly give you case studies in exams and hence it automatically makes you think about the real world situations and you become more aware. It's really helpful. Tough but in a long run really helpful. Some teachers needs to explain the concepts in a more better way because there are students who never had eco or maths before this bsc course . You need to be quick with your answers as the papers are lengthy and a bit difficult so the easy questions shouldnt take much time.

Value for Money for an Economics course

Likes

The faculty is experienced and knowledgeable.
The course structure caters to holistic learning.
Extra curriculars are highly encouraged in the college.

Dislikes

The campus is small, with little to no sports grounds.
The intimidation time is very short for important events.
Infrastructure could have been more rewarding considering the fees

Placement Experience:

The placements are held in an orderly manner with a decent average package for freshers. A few students apply for placements due to wanting to pursue higher education. The companies include Delloite, Tressvista etc and the highest package goes up to 20 LPA

Likes

Course structure and variety of subjects
faculty, teaching staff and focus on research work
sports and extracurricular activities such as fests, events, societies

Dislikes

placements did not see big MNCs coming in college
small campus with not much to do on campus

Placement Experience:

Placements start in 2nd last semester and there are placements but not very good like big MNCs and banks. But many students don't take lacements and go for masters instead. Some big names this year for placement were NielsonIQ, Tresvista, Z associates

It's decent college and better than many other colleges.

Likes

I really like the curriculum and faculty members as they really want to help us progress.
I also like the way they have added different types of value added course in between.
The way they made compulsory to do internships in between your summer breaks as it really helps you to know the field better.

Dislikes

The only thing to dislike is about the campus size.
It would have also been better if there would have been sports facilities available in the college itself
There is no campus only, no playground nothing, it's just a building

Placement Experience:

The company's start approaching in the 5th sem only and company like trestvista, ZS, Crisil and all come to college and average placements is around 7.2lakhs and around 55-60 students gets placed and other student who don't seats for placement pursue their higher education.

Likes

There are some good subjects like corporate finance and taxation which provides practical knowledge
Brand value of Symbiosis International University.

Dislikes

Campus life and some of the faculty members.
Their credit system and grading system and also their course outline

Course Curriculum Overview:

I would rate the college curriculum 6 out of 10 as there are some subjects which is useless and boring and provide no value like behavourial economics while some subject are really good like corporate finance and taxatiom which gives you practical knowledge.

Life at Symbiosis school of economics

Likes

The pedagogy at SSE is designed to equip the students with the modern world
The peer life at SSE is very healthy and friendly
Location of the institute, SB road is safe.

Dislikes

Infrastructure limitations at SSE is something one cannot ignore
The faculty is characterized by alot of visiting members

Placement Experience:

Various companies like Treas Vista and Deloitte ZS associates recruit from the Symbiosis School of Economics. the highest package goes up to 21 lakhs the lowest is around 6 lakhs and the median salary stands at 7 lakhs per annum. most of the students however do not sit for placements as they prefer to go for higher studies after doing the BSc degree

My sibling has done the diploma in quantitative economics from Symbiosis School of Economics and has reviewed it as a good choice for a diploma. He mentioned the advantages and the disadvantages of Symbiosis as per his experience.

Advantages:

After doing the one-year diploma from Symbiosis, the students enrolled in international universities for Masters.
The course and the curriculum are quite good with the excellent faculty.
Moreover, the faculty are very supportive and their training helps the students which is extremely impressive.

Disadvantages:

The number of students in the class is less than 20 students.
A total of 450 students have enrolled in undergraduate and a total of 100 students have enrolled in postgraduate.
Thus, the diploma students are disadvantaged as the interaction and participation are quite low.

Overall, it is a good choice to do a diploma from Symbiosis School of Economics.
