It offers a great placement after the course completion, companies like microsoft, amazon google, flipkart and other companies like goldman sachs come to recruit new freshers in their companies and even offer internships as well.
The fests conducted in our college are worth enjoying and marvelous talent is encouraged.
No fees hike policy.cost to study is a bit high for a government organisation but it's worth it.scholarship opportunities financial assistance and job opportunities are very satisfactory over here.

Dislikes

The scholarship availability should not be below 5 lakh.. it should be a larger number beacuse 5 lakh income is lower income than a lower middle class family.
The faculty advisor is a very rude and strict person who doesn't understand the student's problems.
Placements for lower branches are not that good and being a remote area more companies are not coming to college

Likes

I liked campus very much. It is clean and green with great infrastructure
Campus is big. it is 1200 acres and we'll maintained
Placements are good.almost everyone gets placement with good per annums

Dislikes

Attendance policy is strict. you have to maintain 85% attendance
Mess food is not good. Sometimes they add sugar to everything
Gender ratio is bad.it is 14:1 boys vs girls

From the 7th sem students start getting job offers. Almost 350 companies visited this year and nearly 1400 job offers were given. The highest of 1.8 CR offered to students ( off campus) campus highest was 46lpa and the average was 10.8 lpa almost 88 per cent of students get placed. I'm going for a corporate job after my degree.

Life at NITR

Likes

The lush green sceneries throughout the 1200 acres spread campus makes us feel very connected to nature and makes our mind well refreshed.
The internet connection is very fast , stable and available 24*7 for various academic purposes throughout the campus.
There are various quality restaurants and canteens available to refresh your tastebuds and make food cravings well addressed,

Dislikes

Attendance policy is a bit strict here with minimum attendance being 85 percent it could be made abit linient by making it 75.

Course Curriculum Overview:

I chose B.Tech in Biotechnology as I was fascinated to learn about various biological advancements and technology to make life sciences better. There are about 49 students in our batch and around 20 faculties. So it's nearly 2-3 students per teacher. The course curriculum is pretty well designed to make sure a student gains practical experiences of theoretical subjects learned through various lab works on the subject. In the first year, every student goes through the same curriculum and then from 2nd year onwards, it's divided according to branches. The faculty members are well qualified and supportive of post-doc fellowships from reputed foreign institutions. There are two exams per semester and two semesters in an academic year. The mid-sem consists of 30% marks, end sem 50% marks, and 20% marks are through faculty in the form of Teaching assessment marks. Grades are provided according to the final marks secured. The course is balanced and good grades can be achieved through consistency.

NIT Rourkela :Good college

Likes

The campus is beautiful and green, its relaxing to roam around
AC library is very helpful during exams in summer
Ac class rooms so there is no difficulty due to heat during lectures

Dislikes

Mess food is miserable, most the days you eat out
Many professor just read the slides without going into concept
Hostels rooms are so small, and you're given single room only in 4th year

Placement Experience:

From 7 semesters students are eligible for campus placement. Major tech companies like Microsoft, and AMD visit. About 99% of the students are placed with an average package of around 6-8 lpa. The no. of companies is around 90-100.

GUIDE TO NIT ROURKELA

Likes

The college campus is one of the biggest and extremely beautiful.There are various cafes and restaurants for refreshment.
The club culture here is great and one can choose from various clubs to join.
Some of the faculty are just the best teachers I have ever encountered.

Dislikes

The weather and climatic conditions of Rourkela are a bit extreme.
80% attendance rule is a menance and remaining absent leads to gradebacks in grades.
Though most of the faculty is good,there are some who are not supportive and act rude to students.

Placement Experience:

From 8th semester, students are eligible for campus placements. Placement numbers are great where departments record 90% placements in various companies. NIT Rourkela highest package stood at INR 1.2 crore PA whereas NIT Rourkela's average package stood at INR 20.88 LPA. A total of 350 recruiters including 100 new recruiters participated in the placement drive. Some of the top recruiters included Apple, Google, VISA, etc. I have thought of appearing at GATE and trying to pursue M.Tech in IITs.

I got admission in the National Institute of technology rourkela which is in the district sundergarh in the state odisha and this campus is full of advancements and resources. Faculties are too good in there expertise.

Review of NIT Rourkela

Likes

Campus is huge and full of greenery. Lot of things to explore and enjoy.
Faculties are highly qualified and experienced.
College has a cricket ground, a badminton court, basketball court, an Olympic size swimming pool etc.

Dislikes

Some of the faculties are not good .they are highly qualified, experienced and have a lots of knowledge in their field but it seems like that they did not how to teach the students. This happens in almost every college

this is the best college and branch which i got on the basis of my rank thats why i took admission in this college. student to faculty ratio is good. Classes are not too much crowded . Teachers are highly qualified most of them are IITians. The level of term exams are very good.It is not difficult to just get pass in any subject,however; the level of questions are very good

class room is well managed.. like there is cooler, digital boards etc..
campus area : campus area is very good there is 3 restaurant and and some stalls.
veg mess - a seperate mess for pure vegeterians.

Dislikes

marking - teachers doesn't give good marks even good answer.
attandance - 85% attandance is very disgusting.. i never heard 85% in another collage except nit rourkela,
mess food - mess food is not good. no cleanliness in mess cooking side.

Placement Experience:

yes, very good placement. In 2023 the highest package of NIT ROURKELA was 83LPA. 83LPA was offered to a Computer Science and Engineering student. there are 100% placements in NIT ROURKELA. too many companies come here for recruitment.

I really liked the campus , infrastructure, college environment.
Support from the senior how they always helped their junior
Clubs and extra curricular activity in NIT

Dislikes

Mess food is not soo good , have complained many times but nothing changed
Some faculty are very good but some are only for their work not teaches properly
In summer , temperature goes very high and create very humid environment

Placement Experience:

Placements of NIT rourkela is quite good .Students from 7 semester are eligible for campus placement. Many many companies visited this college.highest package of this year was around 83 lakh per annum and average package was around 12-13 lakh per annum. Around 90 percent student got placed or remaining go for higher studies .after my degree I am going for higher stuudies

NIT- Rourkela The ups and downs.

Likes

Their infrastructure and environment which is very clam and peaceful.
Also their course structure which gives a student it's overall development and prepares him for all round development
And oviously the club culture. As there are 70+ clubs a student definitely gets a vast exposure on different skills and enhances them

Dislikes

The management is a concerning matter as the student body does most works and the upper management is a bit lazy .
Also mess food really irritating sometimes. It is sometimes disgusting to find the food so nasty
Also as it is far from the city one have to buy a cycle to even go somewhere inside the campus also.

Placement Experience:

After fifth semester one gets eligible for internships provided by colleges and after 7th or 6 th semester for placements and stuff. Highest package through off-campus in ther year 2022 was 1.82 Cr per annum. And the lowest was 3 Lpa . Mostly 97 percent students get placed. My plans after getting the degree is to work for an IT company a big IT Firm.

Likes

Huge campus of 1200 Acres full of greenary and beautiful view.
No restrictions on the students and freedom.

Dislikes

No proper management on mess carter.no students engagement on mess Carter

Our college has very good placement opportunities huge amount of companies visit every year like Amazon, Google, Flipkart.. all the big names, and provide good placement. People here do everything after completing their degree ranging from civil services, government jobs, higher studies, startups, and private jobs.

A friend at NIT Rourkela gave me a detailed review of her college the last time she visited me. Here are some highlights from her descriptive experience

NIT Rourkela has a huge, serene, and well-secured campus.
The institute has diverse clubs that promote extracurricular activities and their performance is better than most clubs of other engineering colleges.
Decent Internet speed is offered and the Dc++ is well maintained.
The hostels are well-maintained and decked with all the basic amenities one could ask for.
Students are actively involved in sports such as gymming and swimming.
The faculties are a mixed bag. Some are underqualified and lethargic while some motivate you to become a better person.
The institute boasts of an extensive entrepreneurship culture.
The institute needs to work on increasing its alumni base and the level of fests it organizes given the huge income the institute generates.
The placement scenario varies from branch to branch. It's decent for branches like CS while pathetic for others.
Rourkela does not have any places to explore and also lacks flight connectivity.
The city of Rourkela is one of the cleanest places so hygiene is not an issue here.
