Everything you should know before going to nit jamshedpur

Likes

infrastructure is good and descent. student are competitive
professors are not strict and are highly qualified
canteen is present inside the hostel upto 2 am. so no worries

Dislikes

you need a lot to walk or to pay almost 300 everytime you want to go outside the campus
a lot of improvement is needed in infrastructure and nirf ranking needs to maintain
auditorium and better sports place is not available....wifi is also not available till now but is under process

NIT Jamshedpur is famous for its placement stats as it has 100 percent placement in the metallurgy branch. it has also a good placement record in core branches which most of the nits don't provide. placement culture is good here so in this college, you don't have to bother with placements. the average CSE package is 27 LPA and the overall average package is 16 LPA which gives high competition to top NITs. From third year students become eligible for placement.

Seniot junior relation is good , college is ragging free camous
Campus location is also good , good facility

75 pecent attendance is menadatory for every classes or subjects
Water is not good here because of industrial place
Climate and weather is also affected health

Likes

college being affordable and easygoing in terms of form filling
air conditioning is great in all classrooms
consistent clubs and activities across first years

Dislikes

locality is bad as there are no local shops and sellers
no airport nearby closet one is 120 km far away also only domestic
hostels for first year is bad really bad bathroom conditions

Placement Experience:

placements are good comparatively with other nits cse average being 250000 and with nearly 97% placement rate from the ones who are eligible of sitting in placements my plans are too go foreign for masters highest package is 85 lpa average cse 25 lpa average over all 13 lpa

Likes

Classrooms are one of the best in INDIA. They are better than top NITs and IITs.
Sports facilities and cultural clubs are top notch.
Good seniors junior interaction. We call seniors as sir and ma'am and they are very supportive.

Dislikes

Infrastructure is still very much to be developed.
It is Open campus thus outsiders also roam in the campus
Less Shops inside the campus.you need to go out of campus for marketing

Placement Experience:

Students become eligible for placements from the 7th semester. Placement percentage was 98.8% and Metallurgical and Materials Engineering was 100%. The average package of our college is 17.2 LPA and 27.32 LPA for CSE. The highest package was 83LPA. I will try to get placed in one of the best companies coming into our college.

I like the senior junior relation here..the seniors are very helpful
The college clubs are awsome... it's the best way to interact with others
Sports teams are great here...they teach you from scratch if you are interested in a particular sport

Dislikes

Attendance criteria of 75%....it shoul be removed
The hostel does not have wifi facility ...though it's in proccess of installation
The schedule is very hectic..and it's become difficult to manage everything along with college

Placement Experience:

Students are eligible for placement from the beginning of the 6th semester. The companies like Tata Atlassian, Infosys, Wipro, and Coal India visited our college, the placement last year was 98%. The percentage of students getting placement is very high here.

Students professor relation here is very good professors as well as seniors here are very helpful

Dislikes

Campus is not very big and sports facilities should be increased .

Placement Experience:

From the fourth semester, students start getting internships and placements from the seventh semester. Names of the companies are Atlacian, Power Grid, byjus, Flipkart and many more they made 800+ offers. The highest placement last year was 81 lpa and the average package was 18 lpa. Except civil there was almost a hundred percent placement in all branches. I want to get placed in a good company.

Likes

The clubs over here are good . They help us in many way .
The sports culture of this college is good enough . The way they conduct sports fest just amazing .

Dislikes

The campus utilisation is not good . It should have some more place to explore
There's no auditorium in the college because of which we have to struggle for many events .

Placement Experience:

College offers placement with pretty decent packages like some branches like metallurgy, cse , pie, ece have 100% placement with an average of 15-20 lpa. Big companies like Infosys visit the campus. Core branches face Few placement-related problems because the core companies are not that frequent. Only noncore companies mostly visit the campus. The college has a placement cell that helps students with their placement. Which is really helpful. Many students opt for noncore companies as they pay pretty well.

Hostels infrastructure and single room to every student , i like the most
Our newly made academic building of 130 CR is so much attractive
Placement of our college is beyond expectations, everyone has single offer at the end of degree.

Dislikes

Academic is so much strict here, and we have to maintain 75% attendence
We dont have good transportation facility in our 300 acre campus.
Library is only running 9 am to 8 pm in a day.

Placement Experience:

from the beginning of the 7th semester, the companies started visiting our campus for placement, and nearly every 2nd consecutive day different companies come here for placement. Some of the companies are google, Atlassian, Flipkart,axxela. The highest package offered by Atlassian is 83 LPA. In every branch, more than 98 % of students get placed in every year.

Life at NIT Jamshedpur

I love the lush green campus life at NIT Jamshedpur
We have well managed and planned academics.
Placement here is beyond expectations.Every one have a single offer at the end of degree

Dislikes

Library open only 9am-8pm in a day only and Sunday is off
Our campus is open campus,so we have lot of restrictions
Academic schedule is tough.we have lot of 5-6 hour in a day

Placement Experience:

The placement of our college is awesome. Generally, students of 7 semesters are eligible for placement. Companies visited in our college are Atlassian, Flipkart, Amazon, tata steel, etc. The highest CTC offered by Atlassian is 83 lpa. Generally, 95% of students got placement in every branch.

Placement are very good at national Institute of Technology Jamshedpur

Things that is not good is that the campus is open.

Course Curriculum Overview:

My course is metallurgy and material science engineering and all the faculty are very good and of a very helpful nature. it is quite challenging to pass the exam but all the things are good and all are well qualified

My friend recently graduated from NIT Jamshedpur. Here is her review.

Location: The campus is located in Adityapur, surrounded by industries. It is a bit away from Tatanagar Railway Station. Since Jamshedpur doesn’t have an airport the best way to reach the campus is from Ranchi via NH-33.

Infrastructure-wise: Both the hostels and the computer centers are revamped. The main buildings of the campus are still under further development but are expected to be in maintenance soon. However, the mega hostels, known as J & K, are an enhanced sight of the campus.

Academics

The quality of professors or the methodology of their teaching is quite not up to the mark. Few professors of the institute somewhat still follow the old pedagogy and are sometimes not cooperative. On contrary, the newly appointed Ad-hoc faculties are supportive and are willing to guide students.
Students of the institute perform well in competitive examinations. Many made it to IITs, IIMs, or various international institutes as well.
The Central Workshop and laboratories, substantially Fluid, Thermodynamics, and Metallurgical are not quite well maintained.

The TechnoManagement fest, Ojass, and Cultural fest, Culfest are the major events of the institute. There are several automobile teams as well, like Team Phoenix, the aircraft team; Team Rays, the hybrid car team and Team Daksh, Off road car team.
