Placement and alumini: the institute has an immense alumini network along with the placement cell which attracts the top high paying companies ensuring good job opportunities for the students.it also enables research and further studies.
I appreciate nitc's commitment to academic excellence, with a strong faculty and diverse range of courses that provide a well-rounded education.
I like the cultural fests like festivals being celebrated here which is very nice .

Dislikes

In nit calicut gym was not free we want pay for it this thing i really hatred
Fees are very high when we compared to other nits nit calicut collecting more fees which becoming heavy burden to poor students like me they don't even giving concession most of the people are not getting scholarships
Our hostels are too old and actually it is alloted for 3 people but they are keeping 4 people in a room wash rooms are also not so good.

Truth about NIT CALICUT

Likes

Freedom, tons of freedom. You can go anywhere for days and no one questions you where you are.
Daily non veg in mess😅. Cultural events occur frequently
Free time and no pressure from academic curriculum. We can give time for our passion.

Dislikes

Very unorganised and frequent water scarcity due to hilly region
More risky accidents or unfortunate events occurs like the religion fights, sucidesss, ect .
Academically few irrelevant things are breaking taught and very yes productive in terms of software field.

Placement Experience:

From s7 you are eligible for campus placement. Most companies would give 6.5 or 7 c as the cutoff. Goldman Sachs, sprinkler, linked in, oracle, de shaw, Atlassian, intuit, Nvidia, sales force, arceium, Wells Fargo, Texas Instruments, visa,(Microsoft, Google, and Amazon came for previous years but now blacklisted) and many other comparisons came to college like Cisco, deuthsche bank , Accenture, fractal Analytics, and other startup's with low stipend . Highest ctc will be in between 45-60 lpa generally. One time it was 80lpa. Lowest will be of 3pla -5lpa. Last year it was almost 100 percent placements for cse but now due to recession, HUGE DROP in placement percentage . You can do masters after completing btec in nit Calicut with high chance of getting top universities bcz of nit Calicut fame.

Life in NIT Calicut

The academic is very good here and faculties are very experienced in their respective fields.
The technical culture is very good , the tech enthusiasts will definitely like it.
Various clubs of technology and cultural and other club events.

Dislikes

To much strictness regarding academics and clubs.
Attendance issue of 80 percent attendance..
College Politics in students of different states.

Course Curriculum Overview:

Our college NITC is the first institute who adopted New education policy and the course curriculum here is superb and I will say perfect. The courses offered are both branch oriented as well as practical based. As I was interested in civil engineering so I chose this college because here professors will give you in-depth knowledge of your subject and in a proper practical way. The modern curriculum here is totally application based that if you are studying any of subjects of your course later you will get the practical aspect of that and the facilities here are very good and the faculties are also very cooperative and helping in nature . They will help you in finding your interests and the genre you love . A slight change that I would suggest is to not to force too much things to do in the curriculum otherwise all the other things in this new curriculum is brilliant and worth it . The exams here are like other institutions we have two exams in each sem and other internals and tests.

NITC at a glance

Likes

Personally here in our college is the greenary in the campus. Everywhere here we find many trees and it gives you immense bliss
Location of the college, where you find many places to visit.
Cleanliness of the campus. Everywhere it's well cleaned.

Dislikes

Here we find bit of college politics which disturbs.
Attendance is the big issue. We have to maintain 80% attendance.
Not that great modern infrastructure as compared to other colleges.

Course Curriculum Overview:

Curriculum we have got here is on point and branch specific. Ours is the only NIT with the updated curriculum according to NEP2020. Usually other colleges have first year as a common for everyone but here in our college curriculum is branch specific and also for core branches core subjects start from 1st semester itself.

A review of NITC by a student

Likes

Campus life is good with fests,social clubs,freedom.
Infrastructure of some buildings is very good.
Academic stress is very less as we have only 2 exams in a semester one at mid of semester and other at end of semester.

Dislikes

Mess food is not up to the mark for every student who is from other state.
Home state domination .50% of the students are from home state Kerala and I don't like their domination in every aspect.
Administration is not good,they delay everything and are biased.

Placement Experience:

Our campus offers placements in 7 th semester.Most of the students who registers for the placement will get placed.There are over 190 companies visited our campus placements including meta,Facebook, Microsoft, Goldman Sachs.Highest package is 44 LPA and average package is 14 LPA.My plan is to get placed in a good company with good package and it's possible if we work hard .

About my college

Likes

Good course curicculum and teaching.provides good electives and labs to learn
Good, Enthusiastic peer group who helps in my advancement in both character and knowledge
Has more clubs and events to participate,which helps in building good communication skills and other stuff

Dislikes

Not so good infrastructure available. Improvement needed
And buses availability is not so frequent
placement oriented preparation improvement needed.

Placement Experience:

Semester 7 students are eligible for campus placements.The placements are average due to the recession peroid the no.of placements decreased a little bit but going on good. Around 80 companies visit every year.And the packages are also average.Highest package is around 50 lakhs and average package is around 10 lakhs. Around 90% students get placed every year(not the exact numbers though).Iam planning to do a job after getting my degree to gain some real time experience.

The environment is very pleasant and good here. The college is full of trees and that gives us immense energy to work for all the day. It gives a positive energy to all the students to be active all over the day. I like the college environment .
the college placements are very good in our college.
The course and hostel fee are very less in our college.

Dislikes

The quality of services are not so nice in out college.
The facilities provided in mess and hostel are not so good.
A good connection between teachers and students don't exist.

Placement Experience:

The placements are very good in my college. As it is nit they are very good. But compared to the previous years now this time the placements are going a bit slow. But everytime there is a 100 percent placement rate in CSE.

A Decent Review For NIT CALICUT.

Likes

The Events conducted and clubs with so much fun .
The Fests and events under them are so much of an entertainment with all the studying pressure.
The SAC counsil of students who represent our ideas and thoughts to the higher authorities.

Dislikes

Low Support and motivation for Sports in this college. It's worse than many low tier colleges
Infrastructure of the college . Allocation of land for blocks.
The hostels being so much far from main campus area.with low busses.

Placement Experience:

Our college is one of the few colleges with above 95 percent of campus placement.The students studying in 7th semester and 8th semester will be eligible for placements in which they have to show their skills and secure placement.As per I know the highest package was around 80LPA. Overall it's good college for placements.

A home away from a home

Likes

Best thing is library, everything available there that digital library is so good for us.
There are almost 15 message. Which is a good thing.
All the teachers are always ready to help.

Dislikes

Student are using there native language which makes feel odd to me .
Lots of useless assignment which we have to do every semester.
Lots of class and 80% attendance is necessary

Course Curriculum Overview:

Best ever college for studies and placement. There are lot of teachers who always ready to help for students. There are all lab facilities. But to get a good cgpa we have to work hard . Every semester we have to write a lots of assignments which I thinks just a time waste .

My life at NITC

Likes

i liked the number of classes per a day. we get free time for extra curricular activities
events conducted in our college. the campus atmosphere
we have a huge library that has a vast collections of books

Dislikes

class timings as we have classes form morning 8 itself
old class rooms ,benches and some of the old lab infrastructure
sometimes i don't like the administration

Placement Experience:

Comparing with previous years placements records the current placements was a little bit low.Our Campus Placement are working harder for bringing the companies.third year students are eligible for internships and final years are eligible for placements. we can avail 6months internship during our final year if we dont have subjects in the final semester except final year project

My years at NIT Calicut

I loved the campus life at NIT Calicut. Its a lovely green campus. There are lot of areas for friends to hangout and relax after the classes.
All the major state festivals are celebrated. This helps in building inclusivity among the students.
A lot of events are conducted by various clubs.

Placement Experience:

Students can apply for internships in the third year. Campus placement is provided for final year students. Several top companies both for software and core job opportunites approach for recruitments. For core, companies like Texas Instruments, Bosch, LnT, Bajaj etc comes for placement. Several software companies like Oracle, Accenture, Atlassian etc also comes. Highest package for 2023 was 47 LPA for UG. Average was around 14 LPA. In 2023, more than 80% of the students got placed.

My sister completed her B.Tech from NIT Calicut a few years back. As a female student, she had a bitter experience at this college. Here are some of the things that she noticed during her stay at NIT Calicut-

The girls hostel is very strict regarding outings. There is a fixed curfew from 7 pm to 6 am. Even for staying on campus after 7 pm, special permission is required.
There are instances where you might encounter racism in the most casual manner, this is especially true for North Indian students.
The hostel and college staff are blatantly partial towards female students and those who complain are told to leave the college.
There is a system of daily roll call for female hostellers, which is again a gender-biased rule. The Resident Tutors are not supportive or helpful and may scold you for not attending the roll call even if you are new and not well aware of the hostel procedures.
During LAN work or other repairs, no female attendee is present with the male workers within the girls hostel premises. The girls are expected to follow all the precautionary measures and no strict rules are laid for the male workers.

NIT Calicut is an institute of national importance with an excellent reputation and great placement records. However, as a female hosteller, my sister faced these obstacles which caused unnecessary frustration for her.
