The college has opportunities of scholarships for students have family income less than 10 lakhs and the college is great helper in these cases
Computer engineering students enjoy excellent placement opportunities, whereas for other branch students, there are fewer companies specifically in the core biotechnology sector.
The campus infrastructure is one of the best thing, it's pretty, filled with beautiful buildings, comfortable classes fully air conditioned, greenery all around sports complex running lanes, during winters and autumn the weather is so pleasant here.

Dislikes

I understand that there is a placement cell available here, but recently, the placements have not been very good.
Some teachers are not good at teaching and problem here to to find a rrsouce to study the topic
Fees is very high here which is the worst part here .

Thapar-the second best private institution in India after BITS

Likes

Infra is absolutely wonderful and I like the college very much
Sports facilities is very good and many opportunities are also there
Campus life is also very good with many extra curricular opportunities also available in the college

Dislikes

Location of campus is not very good with no direct connectivity to major cities
Campus size is too large therefore commuting is not very comfortable
Timings of classes are not comfortable and I think it can be changed

Placement Experience:

The placements are absolutely great with many giants visiting the college and offering handsome packages with highest package going up to 55 lakhs and the average package standing at around 12 lakhs.my plans after getting the degree is to land in a decent job

my college campus is very huge and the infrastructure is cool
The placements are very nice with good packages
There are students from different parts of india

Dislikes

Huge student intake which leads to rush in a lot of placr
Huge student intake meand less placements
Poor hostel quality no acs in multiple hostels

The placements of the college, i would say they are decent and not a lot and not too bad, we have an avg package of 10lakhs and median of 8 the highest package goes upto 50-60 lakhs , also the recession has impact too

So starting with things I liked about this college.I can go on talking about the things I liked about this college for a whole day.The infrastructure is absolutely brilliant
Sports facilities are top notch.pretty good gender ration
Wonderful placements as far as pvt colleges are concerned.Brilliant internship opprtunities

Placement Experience:

Students become eligible for placements from 3rd semester.Companies visiting the campus include Amazon Microsoft JP morgan and many more top tier companies which is a boon for the students.Percentage of students getting placed is above 95%.

Overview of thapar from a 1st year student

Likes

Good campus life and you get everything in the college near to the main market of patiala and good facilities like near to main city like Chandigarh and can go to hill stations in Himachal
Good people Max people are from good background of family
Good boys to girls ratio so you can get a girlfriend too but if your luck is like me it can get even worst as the ratio of IIT

Dislikes

Punjab quota reservation is there in the campus
Declining placement because there are some seniors they told me placements are declining due to recession.
Increasing seats in almost every branches

Placement Experience:

Students are eligible for the very 2nd year to get and join scholarship from the college Google apple Amazon come here regularly but I don't know the number of offers made and it's like 60-80% students get placed due to recession average package is around 10 lpa

Campus life and placements are the things that a student will definitely like about the college.
The college has amazing infrastructure. From classrooms to hostel rooms, each space is beautifully designed
The institute provides amazing placements. Ample number of opportunities will be provided to you.

Dislikes

Crowd is something that the institute lacks in.
Timings for girls hostel is very strict, so it should be extended little

The campus placements are good enough at thapar. It depends on the branch to branch regarding which semester the students are elgible to sit for on camous placements . For major branches inclusing cs, ee, ece the students are eligible in 6th semester for internships and full time offers. Top recruiters like apple, zscaler, Oracle, American express, zs associates , jp morgan,deloitte, bajaj etc come for on campus placements. Around 90% students get placements if they sit for it. My plans after the degree is to go for masters degree from a top reputed institute.

The campus is pretty big compared to other campuses of colleges in north India.
There are kotas and admission based on boards and JEE so there are plenty of options to join in.
They also have international programs and is one of the top private universities in India

Dislikes

The fees might be to much 25lacs for 4 years
The attendance requirement is 75 percent
The mess food is not that good according to the fees we pay

Placement Experience:

There plenty of companies which come to our university like Jaypee Morgan, Google, Microsoft , TCS, etc. And if you dont get campus placement then also you can easily get job because Thapar degree has alot of value and a good reputation in India.

Campus Life is the best here, it provides freedom and there are several fun festivals to keep you excited.
Hostels here are comparatively better than most of the hostels in other colleges like vit.
Classrooms are great with enough space and ac.

Students can become eligible for placements at fourth year of their course. Companies like google, microsoft, adobe, apple etc big companies take students from here. Highest package is of 55 lac as of 2023 and average package of 11 lacs.

Likes

Library and infrastructure of library is incredible.
Campus is fully air conditioned and environment is good
Canteen food is affordable for all and hygienic

Dislikes

Parking facility is not as per requirements
Less tuck shops and stationary shops in the campus
Campus closes at 8 pm and i think it should be open for 24 hrs

aspects of the curriculum that influenced your decision to choose this course is because of placements opportunities. the curriculum prepares me in problem solving related to DSA and mathematical situations. No need of improvement as per my personal opinion. The frequency and timing of exams is 4 times and their difficulty level is moderate to high

Campus life is really great here , sports facilities etc.
hostel facilities are really nice and mess food is also good .
placement opportunities is very nice with a average and median package of 12 lpa and 10 lpa

fees is very high here which is the worst part here .
batch size is very lage , about 200 student in a lecture class.
intake of student is very high here , 2500 students per year

The placements are quite decent i.e. of 12-14lac/annum around 300 companies visit the campus for placements and the percentage of students getting placed is also great neatly about 94-98%. The highest packages are often associated with the branch a person has.

Thapar University has a brand name, however, the ground reality for this university is not very pleasant and it is swiftly losing the qualities that defined it in its glorious past. The rankings of students enrolled in the university are going down each year. The administration is taking serious measures against the same, however, because of these measures the other students are suffering. One example is the strict entry and exit timings.

Academically, your experience in this institution will differ according to your branch. The CSE branch has a cooperative faculty and lenient attendance criteria. This is not the case for other branches. In other branches, some faculty members may hold personal grudges against you while some may fail you for missing the required attendance mark (75%) by as small as 0.1%. The mess is below average and the classrooms are not very impressive. The administration is very slow.

However, there are positive points about Thapar University as well. The alumni from Thapar are placed in some of the best companies in India and abroad. It has some of the best synthetic courts in any engineering college in India. There are many teachers at Thapar University who serve as a source of inspiration to their students. Sports facilities for all the major sports are great. Placements at Thapar University are great and the labs are well updated. Even though Thapar is facing a drug problem, its teachers and administration are very active in trying to solve this issue.

Thus, even though Thapar University has outlived its glorious days, it has some positive points too. It is completely your choice whether or not you wish to take admission into it.

Thapar University has better placements than most private colleges and NITs. But the problem is, placements here directly depend on the grades of the students, and only the serious ones who work hard to build their profile bag the best packages.

Now the reviews of students are mixed because not everyone invests the same efforts and bags high packages. The people giving bad reviews are the ones who did not build their resumes well.

The best thing about Thapar University is the level of freedom you get to experience here. However, the increasing intake is slowly deteriorating the student quality so you might want to consider this before joining.
