The college has opportunities of scholarships for students have family income less than 10 lakhs and the college is great helper in these cases
Computer engineering students enjoy excellent placement opportunities, whereas for other branch students, there are fewer companies specifically in the core biotechnology sector.
The campus infrastructure is one of the best thing, it's pretty, filled with beautiful buildings, comfortable classes fully air conditioned, greenery all around sports complex running lanes, during winters and autumn the weather is so pleasant here.

Dislikes

I understand that there is a placement cell available here, but recently, the placements have not been very good.
Some teachers are not good at teaching and problem here to to find a rrsouce to study the topic
Fees is very high here which is the worst part here .

the infrastructure is quite good and very spacious
the campus size is decent enough fo anyone to grow and thrive
some societies are quite if you managed to get in

Dislikes

the campus in timing is 8 pm and curfew timing is 8:30 pm to 6 am
the crowd is not that good what you will expect on seeing the cutoffs
mainly people from punjab and delhi can be seen not much exposure

Placement Experience:

from 5th semester students are eligibe for placements. the average package is around 10lpa and highest is 55lpa offered for SDE role. percentage students placed is around 70% but this year because of low hiring it has decreased

the beautiful greenery campus with large sports ground
the best cultural fests which stays for 3 nights

Dislikes

The inn time of hostel is very bad and we have to follow it
the college is very strict and has many restrictions

it is very worth of taking addmission in this college. it has the best infrastructure and best faculty. they provide very well startup opportunity. Teachers are very good. they teach very well. and they are well qualified. This college is very strict about the studies. they care a lot for their students. their are monthly tests. I have zero regards of taking addmission here

Good campus, have many cafes in our own campus
Loved the staff here teachers, profesor and Dean are very humble and nice

Dislikes

Don't like the timing restriction we have
Don't like the attendence rule we have here.

Course Curriculum Overview:

We get to do a lot of projects through aout the course, few of them are in the subjects included , but we can also pick up projects from professor by forming a team of students each semester. It is very practical.

lots of distraction like nirvana , skywalk ..
sometimes i think that our money is only invested to places like these.

In the world of tech , being a computer engineering can be a boon or curse . but ya lets take risk in our life. not for placements but did this cause of my passion . like not in the particular course ... but the professors are really nice and deal with every doubt.

Life and Future at Thapar

I really liked the vibe and the fest culture here. Thapar never made me homsesick
The whole view of Nirvana, Skywalk. All good and peacefull here
I also liked the socities here. Any trait you like, name it, and we have a society of like-minded people to help you.

Dislikes

Theres not much that I disliked but the hostel INTIME system is really annoying like yeah you can have us in the campus before 9 no problem

Placement Experience:

Placements are really good here considering the fact that it is a private college. Companies like Amazon, Google , Apple too recruit from our campus with really good salary offerings. I cant tell a lot about the placements as I am a 1st year student here

Likes

Thapar is very good in infrastructure providing sports, libraries, parks etc.
The social life is very good, people from all over India come and you get to interact with them all.

Dislikes

Since this is a private college, so most students are upper caste, creating a sence of partiality in middle class stundents
Outside college there is not much student life because patiala is still under development.
There is not much support for attendence if you participate in some competitions or events, even for the campus

Placement Experience:

Students become eligible for the campus placements in 4th year. Although on-campus internship companies start coming in the 3rd year. There are 200+ companies coming and offers are made going up to 50 lacs ctc. Some of the prestigious companies coming include Microsoft, American Express, JP Morgan, Goldman Sachs, Google, Intel, Delloite etc. The highest package goes up to 45-50 lacs while the average is 11-12 lacs. Although there has been a decline in companies this year due to recession. Companies come for all types of roles including tech and non-tech.The usual percentage of students getting placed in my branch is 90% and to the end almost everyone gets placed. If you are not placed college provides placement assistance for up to 3 years although you have to look on your own off-campus. Off-campus sources are linked in, unstop, etc. My plan after graduation includes a job for 2-3 years and then pursuing a higher education MBA.

Opinion on Thapar Institute of Engineering and Technology

Likes

College societies which offer overall personality development.
Infrastructure which is one of the best in IndIA.
Placement with big companies visiting and offering generous offers.

Dislikes

Classes start from 8:00 am which should not be the case.
Tuition fees is very high and not everyone can afford it.
Main gate in time and hostel in time is 8:00 pm and 8:30 pm.

Placement Experience:

Students become elligible for campus placements form 7th semester. Few of the big companies that visit are: JP Mogan and Chase, Amazon, American Express, TISCO, Amazon, Microsoft,etc. Highest package offered: 60 lakhs with average package of 10 lakhs.

Campus life is very good here as there are a lot events and competitions which help in interacting with a lot of people
The sports facilities are top notch and the overall system is great which helps the athletes to perform well in competition
The faculty is very friendly and is always ready to help and provide with everything related to any topic

Dislikes

The restrictions imposted by the dosa are very severe as there is night curfew for everyone past 8:30 pm
The sports team are not allowed to participate in other colleges sports fest more than once a year

Placement Experience:

From 7 semester the placement season starts in thapar and many companies like google, amazon, JP morgan etc visits the campus and offers placements to the students. The placement offer varies from 12 lakh to 20-30 lakhs depending on the company which offers job. The highest package last year was 48 lakhs through campus placement and the average placement is around 14-15 lakhs. The students getting placement is around 60-70% which is in the resession period but all in all the placements in Thapar is good.

Is THAPAR really worth the money?

Campus Life is really good here ,residing in the city
Faculty dont really worry for attendence if you from computer branches
Really good hostels with AC and well equipped gyms

Dislikes

Hostel in time which is 8.30PM ,it should be increased
Regular exams and sessional are conducted which is a real burden
No startup culture in Thapar ,they just want us to study

We become eligible for placement from 7th semester onwards,there are many companies that come for placements for all the branches but the highest packages are bagged by computer-related branches usually the highest package is around 40 lakhs and avg package is 8 lakh for computer engineering, but mostly students get placed at around 7LPA

Thapar University has a brand name, however, the ground reality for this university is not very pleasant and it is swiftly losing the qualities that defined it in its glorious past. The rankings of students enrolled in the university are going down each year. The administration is taking serious measures against the same, however, because of these measures the other students are suffering. One example is the strict entry and exit timings.

Academically, your experience in this institution will differ according to your branch. The CSE branch has a cooperative faculty and lenient attendance criteria. This is not the case for other branches. In other branches, some faculty members may hold personal grudges against you while some may fail you for missing the required attendance mark (75%) by as small as 0.1%. The mess is below average and the classrooms are not very impressive. The administration is very slow.

However, there are positive points about Thapar University as well. The alumni from Thapar are placed in some of the best companies in India and abroad. It has some of the best synthetic courts in any engineering college in India. There are many teachers at Thapar University who serve as a source of inspiration to their students. Sports facilities for all the major sports are great. Placements at Thapar University are great and the labs are well updated. Even though Thapar is facing a drug problem, its teachers and administration are very active in trying to solve this issue.

Thus, even though Thapar University has outlived its glorious days, it has some positive points too. It is completely your choice whether or not you wish to take admission into it.

Thapar University has better placements than most private colleges and NITs. But the problem is, placements here directly depend on the grades of the students, and only the serious ones who work hard to build their profile bag the best packages.

Now the reviews of students are mixed because not everyone invests the same efforts and bags high packages. The people giving bad reviews are the ones who did not build their resumes well.

The best thing about Thapar University is the level of freedom you get to experience here. However, the increasing intake is slowly deteriorating the student quality so you might want to consider this before joining.
