The college has opportunities of scholarships for students have family income less than 10 lakhs and the college is great helper in these cases
Computer engineering students enjoy excellent placement opportunities, whereas for other branch students, there are fewer companies specifically in the core biotechnology sector.
The campus infrastructure is one of the best thing, it's pretty, filled with beautiful buildings, comfortable classes fully air conditioned, greenery all around sports complex running lanes, during winters and autumn the weather is so pleasant here.

Dislikes

I understand that there is a placement cell available here, but recently, the placements have not been very good.
Some teachers are not good at teaching and problem here to to find a rrsouce to study the topic
Fees is very high here which is the worst part here .

The Thapar chronicles

Likes

there are clubs like Thapar movie club, TFF, and others where you get to learn something new everyday.
it is a beautiful and aesthetically pleasing campus

Dislikes

the college timings are not day scholar friendly
No preparation weeks before exams are given

Course Curriculum Overview:

The course curriculum is a 8.5/10. Every subject is very necessary for real-world problems and helps in making an engineering industry ready. The faculty is very educated and experienced. I chose this course because of its placement record and the curriculum's ease. There are MSTs and ESTs in the form of written examinations and quizzes or lab evaluations depending on the subject.

the campus life is amazing and very happening
the infrastructure is very nice and attractive
the placements are also very nice avg package offered is also good

Dislikes

the fees charged is obviously a bit high for the courses
the hostel fees is a bit expensive which might be a problem for some people
not all the faculty members are good but most of them are nice.

A one-stop review on Thapar University: Read it or regret later.

Likes

The world class infrastructure of the college.
The annual cultural fest and the major events of the socities.
The understanding faculty of the college.

Dislikes

The crowd of the college as here there are okay-okay students.
They have introduced a face recognition system that sends message to the parents if you do not return to the college before 8pm.
The restrictions on the in-time and out-timings of the college.

Placement Experience:

From semester 6th, the students are eligible to sit for the campus placements. The major companies that visit the campus every year are JP Morgan and Chase and Co., Salesforce, Expedia, Microsoft, Apple, Google, Intuit, BlackRock, and many more. The highest offer last year was 60 lacs and the average package was 14 lacs according to the stats mentioned on the official website. Out of the students who sit for the campus placements, 75% of them get offers from the companies. I am planning to work in corporate for 2-5 years and then start a startup of my own.

Life at my College

Likes

College provide lot if opportunities for students to take and also resources for students to create their ideas
They also have a counselling cell where you can get counselling for free regatding every aspect of your life.
The campus around here is quite beautiful and fun to walk around. The infrastructure is modern .

Dislikes

The management around here is quite slow. They take weeks to resolve a simple issue.

Placement Experience:

The main reason for me to join the college was it's placement where average placement is about 1200000 per anum. The company for internship starts coming in 5th semester and for placement in 7th semester. Company like Microsoft, Apple, Google visit our campus with highest placement of 4200000. About 85% of students get placed.

Get to know TIET

Likes

TIET has very good infrastructure including lecture hall, library and synthetic track
Seniors and professors and very supportive.
Lot of networking can be done through clubs and societies

Dislikes

Quizzes and lab evaluations are mostly every month
Lot of file work which is not needed as everything is available on internet
compulsory 75% attendance to maintain which get difficult till last semester

Placement Experience:

TIET has decent placements as compared to other private colleges. The average package is 11.5 lakh per annum. 6 months internship is important in last semester of college. Average internship package is 40k per month and depends accordingly.

Best campus life with helpful seniors and professors
infrastructure is too good, whether it be of hostels or academic blocks or library or sports complex
all necessities present inside the campus like food courts , small market complex , medical center and shop.

Dislikes

Quite busy academic schedule, the quizes and assignments are held very frequently so you dont get much of free time.
75% attendance criteria is too strict even for senior years.
Administration is not constant over things

Placement Experience:

The college provides with all the internships and placement opportunities starting from 2 year itself, more than 500+ companies visit the campus , for campus hiring and the average package of the college as recorded of last placement session is 11.5 lakhs which is pretty good as compared to other colleges.

Thapar for me

Likes

Crowd, people,facilities available in campus.
Fests, events by societies, sports facilities.

Dislikes

Campus is huge so sometimes you have to walk very much.
Number of classes per day, sometimes it gets tiring due to large number of classes .

Course Curriculum Overview:

My course teaches subjects from both computer related field and business studies so that was definitely one of the point that influenced me to opt fot it. the curriculum can be a bit better as there are some extra subjects which can be removed. Faculty is well educated and experienced. Exams in mhy opinion are quite frequent, specially the gap between MST and EST is less.

Likes

My overall experience at thapar is good and satisfying.
I liked opportunities available to us. Various companies visit the campus for internship and placement.
The overall infrastructure of Thapar is great. Teachers are supportive and encouraging.

Dislikes

The course of core subjects can be improved a little.
The fees charged is quite high. The fees charged should be a bit flexible.
Students should be exposed to more hands on learning experience.

Placement Experience:

The overall placement scenario of college is good. Various tech and core companies visit the campus. Companies like paypal, linkedin, accenture, jp Morgan etc. visit the campus. Students become eligible for campus placements from the 7th sem.

Likes

Campus is very beautiful and have most of the facilities.
Society and events in thapar are amazing.
Better than most of the private colleges.

Dislikes

Quite expensive , based on the return of investment
Patiala, is not so developed city and people in patiala are too judgemental
Campus have many time related restrictions. Like intime in hostel is 8:30 pm

Placement Experience:

If no placement is offered, then basically it is upon the student his/her skill set and all. In thapar if u study just well ( not hard) u can grab a decent placement, around 70% students get in campus placements. Around few years thapar also produced some entrepreneurs. As i said before many big companies visit the campus for placement. Highest package offered in thapar is around 50 lpa.

Thapar University has a brand name, however, the ground reality for this university is not very pleasant and it is swiftly losing the qualities that defined it in its glorious past. The rankings of students enrolled in the university are going down each year. The administration is taking serious measures against the same, however, because of these measures the other students are suffering. One example is the strict entry and exit timings.

Academically, your experience in this institution will differ according to your branch. The CSE branch has a cooperative faculty and lenient attendance criteria. This is not the case for other branches. In other branches, some faculty members may hold personal grudges against you while some may fail you for missing the required attendance mark (75%) by as small as 0.1%. The mess is below average and the classrooms are not very impressive. The administration is very slow.

However, there are positive points about Thapar University as well. The alumni from Thapar are placed in some of the best companies in India and abroad. It has some of the best synthetic courts in any engineering college in India. There are many teachers at Thapar University who serve as a source of inspiration to their students. Sports facilities for all the major sports are great. Placements at Thapar University are great and the labs are well updated. Even though Thapar is facing a drug problem, its teachers and administration are very active in trying to solve this issue.

Thus, even though Thapar University has outlived its glorious days, it has some positive points too. It is completely your choice whether or not you wish to take admission into it.

Thapar University has better placements than most private colleges and NITs. But the problem is, placements here directly depend on the grades of the students, and only the serious ones who work hard to build their profile bag the best packages.

Now the reviews of students are mixed because not everyone invests the same efforts and bags high packages. The people giving bad reviews are the ones who did not build their resumes well.

The best thing about Thapar University is the level of freedom you get to experience here. However, the increasing intake is slowly deteriorating the student quality so you might want to consider this before joining.
