The college has opportunities of scholarships for students have family income less than 10 lakhs and the college is great helper in these cases
Computer engineering students enjoy excellent placement opportunities, whereas for other branch students, there are fewer companies specifically in the core biotechnology sector.
The campus infrastructure is one of the best thing, it's pretty, filled with beautiful buildings, comfortable classes fully air conditioned, greenery all around sports complex running lanes, during winters and autumn the weather is so pleasant here.

Dislikes

I understand that there is a placement cell available here, but recently, the placements have not been very good.
Some teachers are not good at teaching and problem here to to find a rrsouce to study the topic
Fees is very high here which is the worst part here .

Thapar University, the private IIT of India a.k.a IIT Patiala

Likes

Campus life is very good, if you want to make the best out of your 4 year, Thapar is the way to go!
Faculty and Infrastructure won't be a barrier in your success.
Hostels and Mess are a 10, no complaints!

Dislikes

Fees is a bit high, what can we say, private college after all.
Strictness for In Time of hostels, should be removed

Placement Experience:

College provides a lot of campus internship and placement opportunities. There is a separate dept. for student placement training and in general career guidance. Apple, google, amazon, Jp Morgan, McKinsey etc. are some companies that visits the campus. Highest package for a Btech grad was 53lpa at Adobe.

My amazing life at Thapar (except the fees)

The campus life, extracurricular, facilities , societies
Loved the openness, food culture, placement cells
Great place to have like minded people, friendly culture

Dislikes

Outside campus area mainly ! Super strictness for hostel timings and attendance

Placements are available in 6th sem Companies like JPMC, bane and company, ZS associates, black rock , Microsoft ! This year offers were less like 1000 Highway package has been for 4000000 and average of 7-8lakhs This year percentage is low like 60 percentage I would like to get a job directly

student teacher interaction in classes is vey good
obviously the mess food by sodexo and the hostels.

number of elective they offer in ece branch
exam patterns in exam days is not that good
student must return to their hostels by 8:30 pm .

Placement Experience:

from my point of view the college has good placement although the last year placement was not good due to recession in india but then also student are getting placed in good company.my plan after the degre is to do job.nearly 75-80% student get place every year.

Campus life is great. You get to interact with many people during ur whole college life
Infrastructure is great. I love food places in the campus
Socieites and clubs are one of the best part of any college. You get to enjoy things often.

Campus placements and internships in some of the branches

Placement Experience:

Computer engineering students enjoy excellent placement opportunities, whereas for other branch students, there are fewer companies specifically in the core biotechnology sector. However, non-tech companies such as Deloitte, JP Morgan, Amazon, etc., also participate in the placement drives, providing opportunities for students from various branches to participate.

Environment every one comes here to study and every one talking their studies.

Placement Experience:

Percentage of student getting placement is around 70-80% and higest package is around 67lakhs and average is 12lacs. And also you need maintain 8.5 GCPA to Give interviews and many company visist like : Jp morgan , microsoft and many more

Campus life at Thapar University is really good.
Faculty, staff and infrastructure is up to date.

Dislikes

Classes start from 8:00 AM for all the years.

Placement Experience:

Students become eligible for campus placement after 6th semester. Various technical companies and core branch-related companies visit every year during placements. Companies visiting include Adobe, Accenture, Airbnb, Bajaj, Orient, TCS etc. Students who aim for placements and are eligible for it get placement. My aim is to get a good on-campus placement.

An Introvert's Perspective

Campus buildings , lush green campus , gardens , Nirvana (A place in our college full of greenery looks like a tourist place)
Clubs , societies, events, fests which are really like everyday literally. We get to learn and experience new things.
Seniors . Some teachers . Guidance available, mentors

Dislikes

Not affordable , not worth it according to the fees
No water dispensers , there is one I know. But it should be made available. We have to buy it
I don't like something but that's subjective, how everyone is just rich. Like they are busy in their own lives. Like there should be more interaction activities.

Course Curriculum Overview:

It's good to be honest. The study is really good. Course Curriculum includes chapters relevant in life. I have felt it myself . To be very honest I did not choose this course myself, I just got it. And I didn't see the syllabus before , I just wanted to get in the college somehow. About how the course impacts the real life lemme give you an example : in my first sem there was a a subject called Professional Communication , it basically included making ppts and presenting them as a group, then group discussions, then report writing, research, all of them were group projects. I had never done these in school. I was always scared to do this, be in front of everyone. But because it was an important part of the curriculum, I had to do it.I realised that I do have a lot of potential. Well. Not to brag about myself but mine was best. So it helped me a lot in the confidence thing which was so low when I came to college. Our teacher was also very supportive, he was like "Just say anything".

My POV on Thapar University as a 3rd year CSBS STUDENT.

Likes

I liked the social presence that is built in the college through communication.
I liked the academics that were taught in the classes.

Dislikes

I disliked the fee structure of the college, and the way they keep on increasing the fee.
I disliked the Reservation thing that is implemented in the admission.

Placement Experience:

The students became eligible for internships from the 4th sem itself, and are provided with options for internships in various companies. Many Companies have visited the campus the campus last year too, like Ola, TATA, Paytm, Accenture, Infosys etc. and have offered good packages to the students. The highest on-campus placement was around 54 lacs this year.

Yes, Campus invites a lot of companies for campus placements opportunities like JP Morgan, Bain, Atlassian, Amazon, Flipkart, Black rock etc. From Semester 5 students become eligible for summer internships and from 7th semester students become eligible for 6 months internships. Highest Package offered was 51 lacs by Microsoft or Amazon. 70-80 % placement rate

Review of the TIET as a first year

Likes

Teachers are putting efforts equivalent to students
This college gives off competitive vibes
The people here are fun to be with and group studies are fun

Dislikes

75% attendance is harsh as in semester we can only take very few holidays
Morning classes as its hard to wake up in hostel in the morning
Extremely long college it takes half an hour by foot to travel from one corner to the other

Courses here are great and somewhat needed for the future My Branch ENC is an integrated branch for electronics and Computer, we get to combine our hardware and software skills CSE is classic, and Coe is both hardware and software focused again, EEC is a combination of electrical and Computers

Thapar University has a brand name, however, the ground reality for this university is not very pleasant and it is swiftly losing the qualities that defined it in its glorious past. The rankings of students enrolled in the university are going down each year. The administration is taking serious measures against the same, however, because of these measures the other students are suffering. One example is the strict entry and exit timings.

Academically, your experience in this institution will differ according to your branch. The CSE branch has a cooperative faculty and lenient attendance criteria. This is not the case for other branches. In other branches, some faculty members may hold personal grudges against you while some may fail you for missing the required attendance mark (75%) by as small as 0.1%. The mess is below average and the classrooms are not very impressive. The administration is very slow.

However, there are positive points about Thapar University as well. The alumni from Thapar are placed in some of the best companies in India and abroad. It has some of the best synthetic courts in any engineering college in India. There are many teachers at Thapar University who serve as a source of inspiration to their students. Sports facilities for all the major sports are great. Placements at Thapar University are great and the labs are well updated. Even though Thapar is facing a drug problem, its teachers and administration are very active in trying to solve this issue.

Thus, even though Thapar University has outlived its glorious days, it has some positive points too. It is completely your choice whether or not you wish to take admission into it.

Thapar University has better placements than most private colleges and NITs. But the problem is, placements here directly depend on the grades of the students, and only the serious ones who work hard to build their profile bag the best packages.

Now the reviews of students are mixed because not everyone invests the same efforts and bags high packages. The people giving bad reviews are the ones who did not build their resumes well.

The best thing about Thapar University is the level of freedom you get to experience here. However, the increasing intake is slowly deteriorating the student quality so you might want to consider this before joining.
