The college has opportunities of scholarships for students have family income less than 10 lakhs and the college is great helper in these cases
Computer engineering students enjoy excellent placement opportunities, whereas for other branch students, there are fewer companies specifically in the core biotechnology sector.
The campus infrastructure is one of the best thing, it's pretty, filled with beautiful buildings, comfortable classes fully air conditioned, greenery all around sports complex running lanes, during winters and autumn the weather is so pleasant here.

Dislikes

I understand that there is a placement cell available here, but recently, the placements have not been very good.
Some teachers are not good at teaching and problem here to to find a rrsouce to study the topic
Fees is very high here which is the worst part here .

Thapar University review

Likes

Hostels are well built , clean and well equipped
The administration and the teachers are very cooperative
The whole vibe around the campus is very nice

Dislikes

Fees is extremely high and barely affordable
Lots and lots of couples and PDA in the college
People over here are too wealthy and flashy

Course Curriculum Overview:

The faculty is extremely polite and cooperative. The COE course isalso very old in this college and is very reputative. Exams occur at well distanced times and are easy to score. You can score good CGPA by studying 15 days before the exam

THE GREAT THAPAR COLLEGE

Likes

The things i liked were the lecture halls, Teaching faculty.
Sporting opportunities and cleanliness in the campus
Lots of societies for extra curricular activities

Placement Experience:

Most of the students become eligible for campus placements from their 7th semester. The average package is around 10 lakhs INR per year. My plans after getting degree is to do good in my job and make sure the company i work in reaches full potental

Thapar's future alumni

Likes

Rooms provided in the hostel are great
Sports facilities are top tier and helps
Faculty is great and helps in understanding very nicely

Dislikes

Mess is not upto the mark not great food
Washrooms not that great as they are used a lot

Placement Experience:

currently the placements are not that great. you have to maintain a cgpa of more than 9 to get a chance for 15 lakhs per annum package or more. JP morgan, tcs, microsoft are few of the companies. The highest on campus placement is around 55 lpa.

THAPAR-an honest review

Likes

Infrasturcture is quite good the library gardens and the huge area add up to it
being a sports enthusiast huge grounds for sports are an add on

Dislikes

Fees very high and also the standards of students makes other students sometimes feel insecure
sometimes there is huge competition in sports due to no of students which makes it difficult for an avg player to play in the team

Placement Experience:

-->companies do come for internships in second year -->microsoft , american express, amazon, deloitte,infosys,jp morgan etc visit campus -->highest package ranged to around 60 lpa and avg package for coe is 12 lpa -->70% students easily get placed -->after the degree i plan to work as software engineer

Best infrastructure. Good atmosphere of campus
Excellent exposure to different people.
Very good faculty that are always ready for help.

I choosed this course as I was interested in fusion of electrical engineering and computer engineering Which would be boom in upcoming years. Very helping faculty is available Most of the faculty is IIT graduated and son from abroad There are one MST and EST in each semester

What you need to know before coming to Thapar Institute of Engineering and technology!

Likes

Infrastructure, discipline, library, hostel facilities, every daily need available

Dislikes

High student population, a bit dilution in student quality, Rate of investement is not that rewarding

I am in first year right now, so i don't know a lot about placements..but from what i haveheard is that the highest package offered last year was 55Lakh RS per annum and average was around 12 lakhs per annum..

Infrastructure The infra here is well built and well maintained be it hostels labs or library.
Seniors The seniors here are quite supportive and help out the juniors in all ways possible
College life Fests and events are quite frequently organised by the societies thus making the campus joyful and fun at all time.

Dislikes

No of students The intake of students is quite high due to which many times serious students fall in wrong habits
Fees Even though the college has ample opportunities the fess is quite high for that if financial problems are there
Management The college has strict in time policies and the management is quite rigid

Placement Experience:

Campus placements are easily available for the students in the 6th semester be it both PPO or on campus offers. Companies like apple, JP Morgan ,DE Shaw , Microsoft and Google frequent the college with a wide variety of portfolios and the highest package offered ranges from 50 lpa to 60lpa while the average being 12 lpa across all branches. Around 70% percent students are placed on campus

The Campus Life Is Very Adventurous And Nice.
The Overall Infrastructure Of This University Is Descent
The Teachers Are Also Very Friendly And Cooperative.

The Placements Scenario For 2024 Batch Is Not Up To The Amrk.
Some Teachers are not good at teaching and problem here to to find a rrsouce to study the topic
The drug culture here is not good . Even 1st year students are drug addict

Likes

The atmosphere here is very nice and calm.
Hostels are very well made as compared to other colleges
Placements are also said to be very good

Dislikes

Reservation for Punjab students leads to poor student quality
Fees for the btech course is extremely high(30 lacs)
Lots and lots of couple and PDA in the college

Thapar University has a brand name, however, the ground reality for this university is not very pleasant and it is swiftly losing the qualities that defined it in its glorious past. The rankings of students enrolled in the university are going down each year. The administration is taking serious measures against the same, however, because of these measures the other students are suffering. One example is the strict entry and exit timings.

Academically, your experience in this institution will differ according to your branch. The CSE branch has a cooperative faculty and lenient attendance criteria. This is not the case for other branches. In other branches, some faculty members may hold personal grudges against you while some may fail you for missing the required attendance mark (75%) by as small as 0.1%. The mess is below average and the classrooms are not very impressive. The administration is very slow.

However, there are positive points about Thapar University as well. The alumni from Thapar are placed in some of the best companies in India and abroad. It has some of the best synthetic courts in any engineering college in India. There are many teachers at Thapar University who serve as a source of inspiration to their students. Sports facilities for all the major sports are great. Placements at Thapar University are great and the labs are well updated. Even though Thapar is facing a drug problem, its teachers and administration are very active in trying to solve this issue.

Thus, even though Thapar University has outlived its glorious days, it has some positive points too. It is completely your choice whether or not you wish to take admission into it.

Thapar University has better placements than most private colleges and NITs. But the problem is, placements here directly depend on the grades of the students, and only the serious ones who work hard to build their profile bag the best packages.

Now the reviews of students are mixed because not everyone invests the same efforts and bags high packages. The people giving bad reviews are the ones who did not build their resumes well.

The best thing about Thapar University is the level of freedom you get to experience here. However, the increasing intake is slowly deteriorating the student quality so you might want to consider this before joining.
