The college has opportunities of scholarships for students have family income less than 10 lakhs and the college is great helper in these cases
Computer engineering students enjoy excellent placement opportunities, whereas for other branch students, there are fewer companies specifically in the core biotechnology sector.
The campus infrastructure is one of the best thing, it's pretty, filled with beautiful buildings, comfortable classes fully air conditioned, greenery all around sports complex running lanes, during winters and autumn the weather is so pleasant here.

Dislikes

I understand that there is a placement cell available here, but recently, the placements have not been very good.
Some teachers are not good at teaching and problem here to to find a rrsouce to study the topic
Fees is very high here which is the worst part here .

The college infrastructure and the life at campus

Dislikes

The timetable is a bit hectic sometimes and not too friendly

Placement Experience:

Students become eleigible for campus placements at the end of the 6th semester. There are 300+ companies that visit the campus for recruitments. Highest Package oncampus offered was 42LPA and average package is about 11LPA. about 70-80% students get placed on an average

The best thing at thapar is infrastructure t of the institute

I really hate the morning 8AM lectures..

Placement Experience:

The placement history of Thapar seems to be decent as there are quite a bit of students who don't get placements from campus but on other hand there are students who got high packages but there is a lot of competition because of high intake rate of students.

Reality of Thapar

Likes

Infrastructure here is very good and have all equipment in lab
All top recruits come here at Thapar for recruitment
Gender ratio here is good with around 40 is to 60 ratio

Dislikes

Lecture are boring, profesor just come , speak, and leave
75 percent attendance is must here to sit in exams
We do not have liberty to choose our professor which most good colleges have

Placement Experience:

Placement here are fine with average package of 10lpa, third year and onwards students are allowed to sit in campus placement, minimum cgpa required to sit in placement is 7. Almost all good companies come here.

Complete review of thapar from students POV

Likes

There is good girl to boy ratio. It makes feel good
Good library for studying and labs are well equipped
Good campus life and wide variety of food shops

Dislikes

Teaching methods are average and not that good that you have to watch YouTube for clearing topics
There are too many students there are around 3200 students for only 1st year
There are in timing of 8:30 to be allowed in the hostel so you can't plan late night parties

Placement Experience:

After second year you are eligible for campus placements . All popular companies visit campus but placements rates are decreasing Day by day . Highest packages go for ENC branch around 50 lakhs but off campus placements go upto 1 CR .

A piece of cake for thapar Institute of technology

Likes

awesome campus life due to good facilites
good hostel food and mess courts of every sports
campus is too good as per the infrastructure

Dislikes

in contrast of big campus students need to travel a lot per day for needs
food sometimes get weird as per dates and days
hostel in timings for boys need to be more than usual

from 6th semester onwards people students are ready for campus placements. companies like tcs,tata motors,volvo,wns and many more companies are available for placements, they offer very good placements and on time paclages.

I liked the hostel facilites and accomodation. The campus is also very beautiful.

Dislikes

The exams are difficult and the passing criteria is also difficult and strict

Placement Experience:

There are companies coming for the summer intern , and then the six-month intern. Then the companies come for FTE. Above 70% students get placed. The average package this year is 8 lpa. The companies came for software profile, hardware profile and non tech profiles too.

Good University

Likes

I like the events here and faculty is very nice.
Placement rate is nice and sports facilities are too good
Hostels are good and rooms are well furnished.

Dislikes

There are lot of students in a classroom.
Hostels have not that good cleaning facilities.
Food quality is not that good. And sometimes it is tasteless

Course Curriculum Overview:

I was interested in coding. So I chose Computer Science and Engineering. There are 120 students enrolled in Thapar for this course. And more than 50 faculty members. The teachers of Thapar are well educated and very helpful. There are quizzes, mid semester exams and end semester exams in each semester.

the csed and library area is very airy and well equipped

thapar management about events is poor as they do not give easy permission for conducting any event
the late entry time of college should be increased

in 6th sem jpmc comes toour college and took students for summerinternship and then provide 6months as well as ppo to good performing students .and from 8th sem a student is eligible for campus placements . zomato ,playsimple, oyo, delottie, zs,and many morethe highst package is 40 lpa for zomato and the average goes 10 lpa in this year apprx.35%of students got placed.but in previous years it was 90% my plans to work in big companies

I liked the Culture of Thapar as there are many different societies where one can explore and get opportunities

I dislike about the fees structure as its high and sometimes the management

From 7th semester students are eligible for campus placements. Many companies come for campus placemet like Blackrock, Genpact, PlaySimple, United airlines and many more The highest package was of Zomato of 40 LPA and the profile was SDE This time the batch of 2024 the percentage of students were 30-40% but the last year the percentage was 90%

The Overview of TIET

Likes

Campus Infrastructure including hostels and sports grounds
College Societies and clubs and the events organised by them
The college classrooms and laboratories and the equipments used in it

Dislikes

The academic curriculum which is good but a little outdated
The irregular tests, assignments and quizzes
The lack of support of entrepreneurial activites

Placement Experience:

The students became eligible for campus in the 7th Semeseter(i.e. 4th year). There are lot of companies that visit thapar right from the big giants like google, blackrock, american express to almost all the known starts ups like oyo, makemytrip etc. The offers range from anywhere between 6 lakh - 20 lakh. The highest package of my year was around 30 lakh and the average package would be around 9 Lakh. There are various profiles offered like SDE, Business analyst, Data Scientist or Aanalyst, Product Manager etc Almost 80-90% students get the placement.

Thapar University has a brand name, however, the ground reality for this university is not very pleasant and it is swiftly losing the qualities that defined it in its glorious past. The rankings of students enrolled in the university are going down each year. The administration is taking serious measures against the same, however, because of these measures the other students are suffering. One example is the strict entry and exit timings.

Academically, your experience in this institution will differ according to your branch. The CSE branch has a cooperative faculty and lenient attendance criteria. This is not the case for other branches. In other branches, some faculty members may hold personal grudges against you while some may fail you for missing the required attendance mark (75%) by as small as 0.1%. The mess is below average and the classrooms are not very impressive. The administration is very slow.

However, there are positive points about Thapar University as well. The alumni from Thapar are placed in some of the best companies in India and abroad. It has some of the best synthetic courts in any engineering college in India. There are many teachers at Thapar University who serve as a source of inspiration to their students. Sports facilities for all the major sports are great. Placements at Thapar University are great and the labs are well updated. Even though Thapar is facing a drug problem, its teachers and administration are very active in trying to solve this issue.

Thus, even though Thapar University has outlived its glorious days, it has some positive points too. It is completely your choice whether or not you wish to take admission into it.

Thapar University has better placements than most private colleges and NITs. But the problem is, placements here directly depend on the grades of the students, and only the serious ones who work hard to build their profile bag the best packages.

Now the reviews of students are mixed because not everyone invests the same efforts and bags high packages. The people giving bad reviews are the ones who did not build their resumes well.

The best thing about Thapar University is the level of freedom you get to experience here. However, the increasing intake is slowly deteriorating the student quality so you might want to consider this before joining.
